Nationwide polls are meaningless when the early primary states pick the nominee.

That's only true in some respects....

National polls help build a narrative or conventional wisdom - justified or no. Once that happens a candidates coverage/face time dramatically increases. He/she becomes the hot topic on all the new shows and talk radio. Campaign contributions spike. The bandwagon effect takes hold. On and on - feeding on itself...

What this poll really shows is even after 2 weeks of trotting out lying bimbos and creatively editing interviews to make Herman look like he doesn’t know anything, the race is still a statistical tie !

The is Cain’s low point, it’s all up from here baby!

CHOOO CHOOOO ! get on the Cain train, we’ll be leaving the station again soon, next stop Iowa!

Go Cain !

I gotta give him a pass on this one. We ALL thought Global warming was at least somewhat plausible due to the scientific evidence. Now we know the evidence was rigged.

Wake up people: A vote for Newt Gingrich is a vote for Romney

The fix is in - the GOP/DNC establishment is going to ram Romney down the throats of conservatives, particularly those stupid enough to remain in the GOP.

All said - when you are trying to build momentum - you don't want to find yourself down in the polls (any poll - national or otherwise), especially if your numbers are dropping...

Perception is reality...

Cain and Gingrich splitting a sizable piece of the pie. Romney is pleased.

Two polls clearly have different conclusions. One is MSM. One is of the people. Who has the most to lose based on manipulation of results? 1000 voters seems to be the standard. We had 995 RANDOM REGISTERED voters from all regions of Missouri. Which poll should we believe?

I discount junk science and Gallup polling is junk science like global warming science because it comes from the elitist Harvard types, we are educated so shut up hobbits, mentality that is wrecking our country.

Part of the problem with America is that people are too easily manipulated into believing the establishment is always right. If so why is our country in such bad shape??

The interesting thing is that Romney picks up almost none of the support of those candidates who disappear. Michele Bachmann led for a while and then dropped to single digits, but Romney picked up none of her support. Perry led for a bit, but when he stumbled that didn’t help Romney. Cain was hurt by the claims of scandal (true or not), but his supporters didn’t flee to Romney. Basically, we have 20% who want Romney because it’s his turn, he’s the Washington Insiders’ choice, and he’s not terribly different from Obama politically so we know what to expect. Romney is having a huge amount of trouble selling his message to the other 80% of republicans. Ask who people expect as the nominee, and I’ll join in with the majority and say “we’ll be stuck with Romney”. Ask who we want as the nominee, and Romney doesn’t make my top ten list (or my top ten thousand).

You think a "random" selection of Tea Party activists is a valid statistical sample?

You just need to go to a local University library and get some books on statistics and polling.

MITT ROMNEY IS IDENTICAL TO BILL CLINTON ON EVERY SINGLE ISSUE !

Even John Kerry, who went to Vietnam, has moral highground to attack Romney, WHO DODGED TO DRAFT LIKE CLINTON TO RECRUIT FOR HIS CULT !

Romney is to 2012 as Benedict Arnold was to 1776.

Romney passed an assault weapons ban, like Clinton, in Massachusetts except it's was a "Permanent" ban, making him even to the left of Clinton on the second amendment !

"The fix is in - the GOP/DNC establishment is going to ram Romney down the throats of conservatives, particularly those stupid enough to remain in the GOP."

If that is the case, then above all else, the gop "elite" must be PUNISHED by us rejecting to vote for their presidential candidate. We can write in or pick a third party for president and hobble obama with control of the house and senate....Demand impeachment. Clinton was kept in check pretty well his second term.

Romney is identical to Clinton on all issues, he'll lead the true conservatives in congress to the left. THIS MUST BE OPPOSED AT ALL COST !

These polls were advertised and open to the public. The TEA Party was the sponsor.
Of course we expected negative reactions from the establishment, who’s mindset you represent. To say Gallup is any more accurate because they get paid big money to do these things is absurd.

Romney is clearly NOT a viable choice for mainstream conservatives. Romney is NOT even a conservative but a east coast liberal Harvard creation. The people see that and rebuke him. Look at the very comments on this thread and they poll with we the people of Missouri. We don’t need the establishment telling us who we should vote for. If they are so smart, why do we keep getting losers?

Straw polls are beyond worthless; that someone would attempt to counter a scientific poll with a straw poll is hilarious.

....that someone would believe “scientific” push polls by the controlled media is even more hilarious, but we all need Monday morning laugh out loud moments...

ymmv

The critical question one needs to ask oneself about each candidate is... is this candidate more or less conservative than W ?

If the answer is less conservative, then you should not under any circumstances vote for that person.

Romney if elected would be the most liberal Republican since Nixon to hold office.

Newt would be the almost as bad.

Cain would be to the right of Reagan.

That’s all I need to know.

The next two weeks, imho, we will see a lot of folks hopping back on the Cain Train.

What the polls don't show is the Cain has the under 50 crowd that are the most active voters.

Newt & Mitt's best ratings are in the 65+ crowd.

% can be deceiving - its the actual number of voters that count.
