i had the game on and, after the game a number of players had a prayer circle in the middle of the field, jets and broncos. as soon as he finished talking to someone tebow ran out to join in.
i hope they continue to do this and more players see they can pray before and after a game without consequences.

I don’t hate him because of that, I just would rather not have to hear that every time he takes a good snap or makes a good handoff.”*****

Initially it was the constant drumbeat of Tebow not being able to QB in the NFL. Now since taking the pre-Tebow 1-4 Broncos to a 4-1 record Tebow just needs to shut-up.

Too bad Jake, it doesn’t work that way. Go Tim.

Why? Are Christians not afforded the same 1st Amendment rights?

It was never my impression that he pushes things too far. The kneel thing is not much different than baseball and basketball guys doing the sign of the cross. In interviews, I don’t hear him going on and on nearly as much as other people. Seems pretty grounded to me, but I guess I’m not on the lookout to be offended.

“My guess is that most Freepers will be on Tebow’s side on this one. One might only guess how they might react if (when?) a player starts giving thanks and praise to Allah.”

That’s not as complicated as you may think. Moral equivalency is stupid. All cultures aren’t equal. All religions aren’t equal. Thanking Jesus Christ is a positive thing. The only limit will come for Tebow’s employer. If the NFL or Denver Broncos see negative fan reaction, they’ll tell Tebow to cool it, or get out.

But, to your point, allah is a false god. islam isn’t a religion, it’s more of a complete social belief system that’s terminally flawed. Those that would thank allah are either brainwashed, or brain damaged, and their offerings would rightly be viewed with disgust by most Americans.

If there was ever a mooselimb with any talent that could actually play professional football, I’m sure they’d be haulin around a prayer rug. I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem.

He may be a “witness” to G-d but he does need to lay off because people don’t want his faith pushed in their face. What if I,as a Jew,went around and started “preaching”? It would be annoying, would it not?

You say "pushed in their face" but this isn't true. Tim Tebow gets asked questions on camera and he gives the answers that he thinks are true and appropriate? Who is "pushing" anything? The viewer holds the remote and pushes the channel selector. That is the only thing being pushed.

BTW, I wouldn't mind one bit if you asked me to consider becoming a Jew. I would feel honored and appreciative. I would probably listen attentively with sincere respect and curiosity, and I would treat you politely.

Interesting you didn't ping me in your reply.

Well, considering allah/mohmmad advocate the murder and rape of innocents, I would hope most Freepers would be upset.

Why? I would expect a mohammedan to praise allah. Who wouldn't? This is a commercial sport and their speech is as free as mine or Tebow's. However, that doesn't mean I want them in the halls of government...

"Providence has given our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."

-- John Jay, first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court

I think that it's good for kids to have a role model that's not a rapper or a thug.

Plummer only wishes that he was still on a sideline somewhere.

Christians believe it’s their duty to try to bring the word of God, in the form of Christianity to others. The only limit on Tebow should be his employer. Other than than, Mr. Tebow should do as he feels is right.

I’m uncomfortable around those that are strident in their evangelism. However, I understand it, and I accept it. I’ve known some great people who were evangelicals. Not much fun to go have a beer with, but they are fine people, and I respect them.

My only caveat is islam, which is a perverted belief system. By any measure of civilization it’s perverted, please don’t go for the “Who are you to say what’s perverted?”. We should accept all religions to the point of where they inflict themselves on others by force. Evangelism is not conversion by the sword. Amish, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh, Christian, preach away, no harm done.

I have a guy that works for me and I have talked to him to knock off his reference to his faith on several occations. He was using Bible references in e-mails to get his point across. I finally had to tell him one more time and I would have to let him go. I’m a Christian as well. In your face witnessing 24/7 turns more people off than it brings people to Christ. A person’s actions speak louder than words.

So can somebody tell me? Does brother Tebow preach after games? Or is it just that he is known to be one of the brothers that people are reacting to?

Tim Tebow kneels in prayer after key moments in the game. His particular posture in doing so has come to be called "Tebowing" and there is a bit of a social phenomenon surrounding it. (Do a google image search on "Tebowing" and you will see what I mean.) Also, in post-game interviews Tim Tebow consistently mentions Jesus Christ as his living Lord and Savior who gives him strength and purpose. He doesn't preach exactly, but he does give a "shout out".

I think Plummer is more upset about the attention Tebow got at the extended Thursday night interview than anything else.

Tebow was gracious and short with his witness, the rest of the interview, he was nothing but positive about his coaches and team mates. The rest was about 10 or 15 minutes of the panel of ex superstars and coaches saying how much they all thought we were watching the beginnings of a player changing the game before our eyes, lauding his will, and his unique talents.

Tebow was classy throughout the interview, unlike Plummer is doing now.

What's to guess. This site is pro-God, not pro allah and if some moslem wants to do it - hey its a free country, but I darn well will not allow Tebow to be silenced on the basis of such a lame strawman argument as this.

Hey Jake, why don’t you go back to Idaho and plant some potatoes like a good farmboy.

And don’t forget to take your head out of your a$$ first, maggott.

He’s not telling Tebow what it means to be Christian. He’s saying he gets tired of hearing Tebow mention God ever single time a mike winds up in his face. It can get kind of monotonous.
