Newt calls for ‘humane’ immigration policy

“I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are members of the community, who may have done something 25 years ago, separate them from their families and expel them. I’m prepared to take the heat for saying, let’s be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.”

He added, “I do believe if you’ve been here recently and have no ties to the U.S., we should deport you.”

“Newt did himself significant harm tonight on immigration among caucus and primary voters,” tweeted Tim Albrecht, the spokesman for Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R).

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) called the proposal “amnesty.”

Why can’t these guys HEAR us by now. Close down our borders FIRST, and then we’ll talk.

Sarah should have got in the race.

Sarah's position is pretty much identical to Newt's.

Even Sarah said it’d “not be humane” to deport them all.

Hey Newt,

What about a “Humane” jobs policy for the millions of legal, desperate, Americans who have lost their jobs and would do most of the jobs illegals now do, to keep their house, their car and put food on the table for their legal American families.

Would you be so kind to explain to me why Sarah didnt lose too much support when she said it’d “not be humane” to deport all illegals ?

And also why is everyone jumping on Newt for saying basically the same thing Sarah and others has said ?

Newt has said this before but it was mostly ignored. Apparently he thinks if you are sneaky enough to stay for that long, you deserve to stay. lol.

He once said “Some illegals deserve amnesty”... by being sneaky enough and living on the dole long enough I guess?

I consider Newt to be a political opportunist of the crassest kind, yet have no problem with his wording here. What? Are we saying this country does not have the resources to support hard working people who pay taxes?

This is an area where we need to be practical. Assess the illegals in terms of their devotion to country and understanding of our principles. Throw the moochers and Commies out.

It’s no easy feat to re-elect a president who has turned victory into a full-on retreat in Iraq and ushered in the worst economy in some 80 years, but the Republican candidates seem determined to accomplish it. Is this really the best the GOP can do?

Newt changes his stand depending on the political winds. He doesn’t really hide that fact either.

Didn’t take long for Newts true colors to come out.

Now does everyone remember why Newts rep went belly up? He is a RINO in Elephant Clothing.

I think it would be more correct to say McCains position is pretty much the same as Newte's.

On June 1, 2011, Palin stated her opposition to the DREAM Act, a bill that would provide conditional permanent residency to certain illegal and deportable alien students who graduate from U.S. high schools, who are of good moral character, arrived in the U.S. legally or illegally as minors and have been in the country continuously for at least five years prior to the bill's enactment: "The immigrants in the past, they had to literally and figuratively stand in line and follow rules to become U.S. citizens. I'd like to see that continue, but unfortunately, the Dream Act kind of usurps that, the system, that is a legal system, to make sure that immigrants who want to be here legally, working hard, producing and supplying revenue and resources for their family, that they're able to do that right and legally. Unfortunately, the DREAM act doesn't accomplish that." [77]

No, it sure didn't. You have to wonder what he was thinking. Honesty is the best policy but torpedoing his campaign with what is known to be a 3rd rail issue -- not smart.

“He is a RINO in Elephant Clothing”. Add to that an old hack and serious gasbag.
