NAPLES, FL -- Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich defended his immigration policy after days of criticism from other GOP contenders – reiterating that he does not support amnesty -- on Friday night before his largest crowd yet on the campaign trail.

"I am not for amnesty for anyone. I am not for a path to citizenship for anybody who got here illegally," Gingrich told the crowd of roughly 750 people, many of whom were forced to stand in the hallway...........

"I think the vast majority [of illegal immigrants] will go home and should go home and then should reapply. I do not think anybody should be eligible for citizenship,".....

Wow...750 people. Realize that if Palin showed up unannounced in Podunk, IA she’d draw a crowd of 5,000 within an hour...

Get real on this “it’s not amnesty” kick.

Do you really think that if Gingrich got his wish to legalize the illegals but not give them citizenship, there would not be an immediate push to then make them citizens, because, after all, how can you deny 20 million plus residents the right to vote?

Every eight years a new democrat president is elected and lately, every few years a democrat Congress majority is elected. These “resident aliens” would be made citizens by that democrat president on his way home from the inauguration.

Sorry, but your boy Gingrich just committed suicide by stupidity. He has shown himself clueless on the nature and extent of the illegal alien problem. He has also shown that like Eric Holder, the rule of laws means nothing, and laws are just matters of convenience subject to the pandering needs of the day.

Newt had already revealed his true pandering self with his dismissal of the Tea Party objection to Obamacare with his “I don’t think right wing social engineering is any more desirable than left wing social engineering. I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”

His desire for amnesty fits the pattern. Newt is a falling star.

I've known people like that. Too smart to have a lick of common sense, and they make up for their flip-flops by trying to bury you in words.

Newts done now which next weeks polls will show, and I see most of those supporters going back to Herman Cain. Cain needs to talk a little more about illegal immigration, because I think that's one of the primary reasons that were responsible for his surge after the fall of the pro-illegal candidate Perry.

It's pretty sad to see that the liberal Republican establishment think we are all heartless and inhumane people. Those are serious charges, and it shows why illegal immigration is completely ignored by these liars. They don't understand they aren't gaining support from Hispanics with their pandering, and don't seem to understand there is a difference between legal, and illegal Hispanics, and that supporting the illegal ones doesn't give you support from the legal Hispanics who wouldn't have voted for you otherwise. My best friend is third generation from Mexico, and has nothing in common with illegal immigrants, and doesn't support them.

I want you to be in my new rock band. It's called "Toxic Spew." You'll fit right in.

The display of vile hatred using filthy language towards those in our own party is dramatic. You'd think this place is DU.

it’s still amnesty.

A pardon? I suppose if you think a $5000 penalty is amnesty.

Inclinación por Gingrich bajaría (El Economista 25 Nov. 2011)

English Machine Translation: "Des Moines. After the head position preference in the presidential campaign Republican, Newt Gingrich is now facing a possible backlash from conservative activists, after proposing an immigration reform that he called "humane", but quickly denounced his opponents as an "amnesty.""

“A pardon? I suppose if you think a $5000 penalty is amnesty.”

$5000 is trivial to an illegal who just spent $5000 to a coyote to smuggle him across the border, or to someone who has been illegally working in the USA for 25 years and collecting tens of thousands of dollars in welfare, education, and medical benefits and cash.

Yup. As of now, there are 4 “serious” candidates, Romney, Perry, Gingrich, and Cain. Perry and Gingrich are current illegal lovers, and Romney was an illegal lover until he flip flopped which I don’t buy for one second. Cain is the only one consistently against the parasite invaders, and for that he has my vote.

It's the liberal establishment Republicans who call us horrible names that start these things. Bush had to be a “compassionate” Conservative, implying most of us are not compassionate. Perry called us “heartless”, for wanting to save our nation from illegal immigration, and not giving them incentives to break our laws.

Now Gingrich called us true Conservatives, who are completely exhausted trying to get this problem resolved and taken serious, “inhumane” for wanting nothing more than our laws enforced. Why are so many supposed Conservatives constantly apologizing for us, insulting us, and acting like there is something wrong with our views?

They act like we are the violent neo-Nazi’s that ignorant liberals slander us with, and they feel they must apologize for our reasonable views for some ridiculous reason. We have nothing to apologize about for being Conservative, and we aren't going to be forced into ignoring such a serious problem as illegal immigration just because they use “filthy language”, that would make you think they were democrats, instead of members of our own party.

We want to stop illegal immigration from literally destroying our nation, and the stances we take are not lacking in compassion, heartless, or inhumane in anyway. We are sick of hearing that kind of slander against us by politicians who want our support. As soon as I hear a word like that it makes me sick, because it's just them attacking us “radical extremist” for wanting to save our nation, and not have politicians who act like puppets of the corrupt Mexican government judging us when they don't seem to have any morals to begin with. Gingrich is done for the same reasons Perry is done. We aren't supporting people who insult us with what are pretty serious allegations.

Romney says what he thinks people want to hear, and he's correct that this is what people want to hear. It will get him some supporters, and I am a little perplexed as to why Herman Cain stopped campaigning on the issue. He doesn't have to say attention grabbing things like the electric fence "joke", which the media turned into the lie he wanted to kill all illegal immigrants, which isn't even close to what he said. But I do think he should talk about this issue in a serious manner, and I don't understand why he didn't start sooner. Hopefully he starts now, but I don't know what his campaign is thinking.

how can you deny 20 million plus residents the right to vote?

made citizens by that democrat president

I don't know ask Puerto Rico..he.he.. You can't vote unless you're a full citizen. That's fairly well understood the world over.

Why hasn't Obama granted them Citizenship already?

The real question is what’s the criteria for deportation and how do you handle those that can stay? Forcefully sending all 20 million men, women, and children back over the border won’t happen. If you think that, then tell me who is going to do it and exactly how.....really....? Don't forget a lot of those little ones are now American Citizens.

Newt also wants to shoot them in extremity of their choice. Not really.... but something tells me that wouldn't even be sufficient for you.

And you realize that Palin didn't get in the race, and that Palin's stance on illegal immigrants is EXACTLY the same as Newt's. I'm sure a smart fellow like you does indeed.

Very few understand the illegal's reason for being here and it ain't citizenship. They want the money earned to send back home which they do to the tune of billions each year. It's the second highest form of income for Mexico.

If citizenship were the goal, learning English would be a priority but it isn't. America is just a big cash-cow to the North. Of course, any benefits they can accrue while here is just more icing on the cake.

Think of it this way: if there were a place you could go and work for a number of years to acquire property back home in half the time or less than it would otherwise take, wouldn't you be interested? And, if you could sell drugs to the idiots and their children who refuse to hold your illegal presence accountable, imagine the wealth you could create for yourself and family back home.

Citizenship? For what, membership in the biggest Flea Market known to mankind? You'll know the Mexican who's interested in citizenship by their ability to speak English. From my experience, that isn't many.

Politicians need to get off this tangent and build a wall to prevent further invasion and it's consequences. The drain on state's economies is significant when the social costs of harboring illegals is combined with what they send back home. Mowing lawns and washing cars is only some of what they do. Bending over backwards to accommodate them is Gringo Stupid.
