As a long time FReeper, my input is that it is quite recent phenomena. As I recall some leftist wrote a derogatory piece and in addition to other errors, thought Jim Robinson was Jim Thompson.

The years tend to blur but I would guess no earlier than 2010

I had actually been guilty of not closing a color and font size. It was HUGELY red for more refreshes than I embarrassingly want to remember until someone cleaned it up

I didn't realize that JimRob and I had the same FR 'born-on' date. That makes it my anniversary here too and I would have completely missed it without this thread.

Thank you Jim. I came late to the game. I was not much of a Internet person until after 9/11. I started with the AOL request for funds to the victims of 9/11. Glad to do that. Then I got on the threads from AOL and the hate I saw from posters about FR. I checked it out, lurked for quite awhile, then decided that FR was really the place I belonged.

An amazing number of people are still here after 14 years (more like 15, actually - registration was not needed originally). Some have retained the same name; some are posting under different names now. Many personal friends (although we never actually met) are listed on the Memorial Wall. A lot of history has been documented here. There’s no other place like it.
