Televangelist and senior pastor of Houston’s Lakewood Church Joel Osteen explained on Fox News Channel’s “Huckabee” over the weekend that President Barack Obama reached out to Osteen and Lakewood.
“He has reached out to us,” Osteen said. “And we have done some of the leadership things there at the White House with him and been able to pray with him — just simple things like that. And he’s been very kind and friendly to our ministry.”

He inherited his congregation from Daddy - kind of like a football coach hiring his “less than talented” son to work the sidelines. I haven’t been a fan of the pray for wealth kind of preaching.
Which proves to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Osteen has NOTHING to do with the One True God. If he did, Barry the Boob would avoid him like the plague.
IIRC, Nancy Pelosi showed up at the opening of the 'new' Lakewood.

Joel Osteen will have a special place in hell. He seems not to even have a clue. There are a lot of great true Christian ministers today.
But, in my opinion this group does not include Joel Osteen or Rick Warren. I think they both are leading many, many people right thru the gates of hell.

1. Huckabee has been puttin the pounds back on now that he isn’t running. Time to take your own advice on putting the sweets down, Mike.
2. Osteen blubbered the same banalities in this interview that he does in his sermons. Feel good nonsense.

Agreed! When he couldn’t decide if Jesus was the only path to heaven or not, that’s when I stopped listening... not that I did much in the first place.

One of the hardest things for a rich man to do is to live a Christian life. He forgets where his blessings come from and begins to think that it is all of his own doing.
Are there rich Christians? Of course there are. But very few are Christ called preachers. Does God bless some men with riches? Of course he does. Look at Solomon, the richest man who ever lived. But he also began to think all of his riches came from his own doing and he forgot God. And he paid a heavy price for forgetting God.
One of the best preachers of modern time is Billy Graham.
As far as I know, Dr. Graham is not a wealthy man. And if the truth be known, I am sure there were many opportunities for him to become rich. But he lives a simple life. He is comfortable, but everything monetarily that he ever worked for has gone into the Billy Graham ministries. And he only takes a salary and expenses from the ministry. Dr. Graham knows full well where his treasures are stored. And, in my opinion, neither Joel Olsteen or Rick Warren are worthy of carrying Dr. Graham’s Bible.
I don’t ever remember Dr. Graham ever preaching about being a Christian in order to become rich. His entire ministry was based on Christ, redemption and loving your fellow man. There is only one thing you can take to Heaven when you die. That is the words from the Bible that are engraved engraved on your heart.

Well you are partially right... there is a segment of Christendom who believe that they are to work to usher in the kingdom of God. One way to do that is through earthly government. If enough of them can occupy enough of government, they believe, they can more rightly divide the worlds goods to care for the needy... a kind of sociospiritual-socialism.
I’m originally from Houston and accidently watched his daddy while flipping channels when I was a kid. His daddy was old school compared to Blinky. Daddy was not a near-beer “preacher” like Blinky is. Because of daddy Blinky and his blonde from the waist up wife temper-tantrum Vicky dodged a life in a double wide.
Joel Osteen is the Seinfield of religion. A show about nothing. What he dishes out is like Chinese food. In an hour you feel empty and the most insightful thing you are left with is whatever message you read after eating the fortune cookie.
The only thing I have positive to say about Osteen is that he is less vacuous than Al Gore but he is working on that...

Lakewood is a largely black and hispanic mega-church in Houston located in the former Summit where the Houston Rockets used to play.
I once observed daddy John pull up for Sunday brunch at a trendy Houston restaurant in a Rolls Royce. Years ago there was speculation that the old man sent a letter bomb to his own office to generate publicity.
Osteen is a pseudo-Christian repackaging of Werner Erhard. Christ told us that men would heap up false teachers to themselves as we approach the End of the Age. Osteen qualifies.
This struck a nerve - as it should have. Seems like he has fooled very few on FR. I get his ping every day, just to see what he is up to, but I think I’ll have to get off that ping list.

Not all 'segments' that believe we are supposed to 'occupy until He comes' believe that means to 'rightly divide the worlds goods to care for the needy'.

Yes, to “Occupy until He comes” is vastly different from “to dominate”, ie, dominion theology or Kingdom Now Theology. My point here is not to argue different theologies but to state that some of those theologies wind up in the same place as socialism, with the veneer of spirituality.
