Officials in the German government said Iran will try to target US military bases located in Germany, if Washington launches an attack against its nuclear program in Tehran, German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday.
According to the paper, the German security services held an investigation against a German businessman who is suspected of having secret ties with the Iranian Embassy in Berlin, and helping to plan an attack on American Air Force bases located in the country.
The aim of the attack, the report noted, is to thwart American logistic activities needed in order to carry out a military operation against Iranian nuclear facilities.

Here’s a question: Why do we still have military bases in Germany? Is the Warsaw Pact resurgent? I sorta understand why we’re still in Korea (although they should be paying us) but Germany?! Huh?

I wonder what weapon delivery system the IDF is using against the Iranian nuke sites? Stealth drones dropping stealth missiles against critical nodes?
Whatever it is, I wish them continued good hunting!

If we attack their nuclear sites, they will attack our bases with the intent of thwarting our logistical ability to attack their nuclear sites.
Does this make sense to anyone else?

It does if you use Mullahlogic tm.

A reminder to Iran:
About 10 years ago, a ragtag bunch of yahoos destroyed a couple buildings in the USA. The response was to eviscerate two countries.
Don’t go there. It will not end well.

I believe we have a German air base in Texas. It’s hard for them to simulate combat over the very urban landscape of Europe. No other ones that I’m aware of.

Several Embassies of European countries closed in Iran yesterday. Many are expelling Iranian diplomats from their countries, too. Shouldn’t be long now.....

With the current doofus in chief? (DIC - most appropriate) I don't think so. He'll be apologizing to Iran from his golf cart on the 6th green. You know, the cart with the teleprompters?
If he'd only stop facilitating the murder of our own troops, it wouldn't be so bad.

The aim of the attack, the report noted, is to thwart American logistic activities needed in order to carry out a military operation against Iranian nuclear facilities. My question is what kind of attack do they think will thwart our military operations? Spraying a base with machine gun fire isn't going to thwart anything. Nor will driving a truck loaded with explosives into a main gate. They cannot attack us in Germany by landing nine divisions of troops. So what are they going to do? They better not even think of what I think they're thinking because that would mean all out war with us and Germany, even with Hussein in the WH, and they'd lose big.
To: Travis McGee
I’ve been thinking about that, too. Space based lasers? Particle beams? Rods from God?
To: Strategy
Coordinated timing of the attacks undoubtedly approved by the Obama 2012 campaign. I wonder if their is a chart that compares/contrasts military activity in election years.

Allow me to answer. US bases in Germany are used for staging and logistical support of missions in the middle east and east Asia.
The Germans, of course, enjoy the economic, political, and military benefits of US bases.

Methinks a hard enough hit will have the military acting as it sees fit regardless of what the DIC says. There would be a quiet backroom discussion making very clear what’s going to happen and what he’s going to say about it ... and what the consequences of non-cooperation are. “The Chicago way” will go only so far.

Why do we still have military bases in Germany?
Answer: Because of its sublime infrastructure, convenient location with regard to both Russia and the Middle East, the friendly locals who don't mind the foreign military and, most important of all: the food, the Oktoberfest and the Autobahn (kidding).
