Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain will decide "before Monday" on whether to quit the race for the White House as claims of a 13-year affair threatened to end a campaign dogged by sex scandals.
Cain, once the front-runner to take on President Barack Obama in November 2012 elections, has denied wrongdoing, saying he was only friends with his latest accuser, Ginger White, who says they had a sexual relationship.
"Before Monday we'll make a decision," Cain said in an interview on Fox News late Thursday, admitting that a flurry of allegations of misconduct had sent his presidential bid "off message."
"It's not fair to my family, it's not fair to my supporters, it's not fair to this campaign, it's every week, now three out of four weeks... we've been hit with another one of these accusations," he said.
"The decision could be we're going to continue with this campaign, full speed ahead. The decision could be we're going to suspend the campaign.

You two seem like a matched set. Are you both typing these irrational responses as you are drinking beers and whiskeys packing up your desks at the Cain Train HQ?
How do you think a man with stage IV cancer is having an affair with that manly looking thing?
If this was you candidate that they were doing this to,you would change your attitude.
My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.
You just made me realize that it's been a while, a good while since we've had that charge thrown at us from the msm. Every since Herman Cain started climbing up in the charts.
I guess we're going to have that thrown at us again if Mr. Cain would pull out of the running. I pray that he doesn't quit. I do so want to see the day that we have President Herman Cain and his lovely family in the White House.
“shuck and jive”
Would you please show any evidence of such?
Links to posts to prove your assertion?
You proved my point in a really disgusting way.
You...TOTALLY...missed his point.
What a great graphic!
The only disagreement I have is that lobbyists aren’t the devil.
It’s the dang Congresscritter who sells their votes to lobbyists who I don’t like.
The buck stops there.
I don’t like that they are able to get inside info and trade on it, too.
BS,is what you have.
“Its the dang Congresscritter who sells their votes to lobbyists who I dont like.”
If there weren’t so many campaign dollars involved, do you think lobbyists would get the time of day from Congresscritters?
Stop judging HC by yourself. He is a self made millionaire and a decent person that you are helping to destroy with your shoddy detective work. You really don't seem to have any kindness in you.
Thank You!
I don’t like the selling of influence either and this country would be a whole lot better off with out it.
Do away with lobbyists and our congress critters can find out what we want when they have their town meetings. No money changes hands that way. And I think we’d all be a lot better off for it.
You are hopeless..............................................................
Too close to home for you? Toning down the not so subtle references will help a great deal. Sometimes people are so used to acting that way, they have to be reminded that it is not right.
Leave it alone.
Wrong it was not Marianne it was his first wife that has the daughter that spoke out. Hopeless, that is what you are.
WHat the heck do you mean “paying this woman”... as in a service?
SERIOUSLY?
He gave this woman money to help her out, paying bills. He has done the same for other people, male and female, according to family and friends.
I have done the same, my husband has done the same. Yes, both of us have given money to help others without telling each other too. It’s not hard to do when you live fairly comfortably. My husband is one of the most generous people I know, and it has never bothered me that he gives money to friends in need.
I CANNOT BELIEVE CONSERVATIVES ARE BEATING THIS MAN DOWN FOR PHILANTRHOPY.
What is wrong with all of you?
You're an asshole.
Look at the thread, and stop being inane.
Go fantasize you are boring.
Wrong, you need to put the hot toddy away, and stop calling other people what you are yourself.
Keep digging that hole, jerk.
“Judging others by your filthy sense of values can hurt a lot of decent people. He is a Millionaire that gives to people in need. I guess you never had the grace to do that, so it is foreign to you.”
Amazing, the naivete of some people. The only one who has a filthy sense of values here is Herman Cain, but I guess that concept is foreign to you.
Newtie wanted to be married to Marianne and Callista at the same time. That is sick, and sounds like he wanted to be a Mormon from 120 years ago.
“Speaking of ugly, hateful and unfounded accusations...”
Can’t handle the truth, can you?
Flaglady responded as I would have responded to you Samantha
She saved me the trouble.
Thanks
Is that the truth? A lot of things have been said about Newt Gingrich and a lot of those things have been debunked as lies. What I can’t handle is hypocrites who smear any Republican candidate that isn’t their own and any FReeper who supports them. Or wild accusations of racism against other FReepers.
If Cain quits, Soros and the media win. I’d rather see him continue and ask the media why they won’t examine Obama as closely as they do the conservatives.
Heck, he could be brave and raise the eligibility issue, something no Republican has the will to do. That might shake things up a bit.
He said he gave her money for “month to month expenses” and some people assume that means he gave her money every month. And then stretch it to “he paid her rent.”
Gloria warned Herman on Greta weeks ago: If you screw up, “you will stand at that podium alone”. And she meant it. Without her, his campaign is done. Tragic destruction of a fine career and reputation. And for what? Clinton was ON TAPE telling Gennifer Flowers to deny an affair during the NH Primary - and he STILL came in 2nd, and then won the Presidency. All because Hillary has no soul and stood by him and lied, and kept lying and denying right through and beyond Lewinsky (”vast, right-wing conspiracy”). Gloria Cain is no Hillary. She has a soul and a fear of God. What a marvelous First Lady she might have made - in a parallel universe. In THIS one, Liberals are immune to scandal, while conservatives are undone by the slightest hint of one - even an unproven one. Yet Newt is somehow immune to his scandals, because they are no longer “newsworthy”. And so the beat goes on. Progressive Democrats, Progressive Republicans. And as Mark Levin says, we move further away from a Constitutional Republic with every election.
Exactly. There really isn't much of a difference..."meet the new boss..."
Are you celebrating it, sir or ma’am?
Poor Cain. At the pace the media is tearing him down, it won’t be long until his brand reaches/descends to Newt’s level. Well, we still have Perry!
Ok suckers. Time to move on to another fraud.
OK. It’s Friday. D-Day.
Can you imagine how HC must feel right now? He’s been able to discuss this with his wife from a distance, over the phone. Now he has to walk in the front door and look her in the eyes.
I’ve been married for 15 years and have made my share of mistakes. Nothing near the magnitude of this but mistakes none the less. There is no worse feeling than having to sit down next to the wife, and explain my stupidity.
I imagine his nerves are probably peaked....
Taken on face value, what he did was done with very poor foresight. At this point, we don’t know why he felt the need to pay this woman money for rent and such on a monthly basis for 13 years. Was it charity? Maybe. We don’t know what the 60-odd text messages say or even who wrote the majority of them. We currently don’t know much of anything but the speculation that is going around is pretty nuts. That being said, on a human viewpoint, it doesn’t sound good. If this were a friend of mine and he did all of the above, I would have some real deep questions for him. My thoughts would be that there is something deeper to this.
In the mind of voters, HC’s image is now tarnished. A lot of people are looking at this as too much drama. It’s going to be a very big hole for him to crawl out of. It is all going to be based on how he decides to continue.
No. But it is good to know that Cain is not the man we all projected him to be. Unfortunately his wife has just found that out along with us.
You don't pay another woman's rent for years and not tell your wife unless.... [Fill in the blank].
Use Occam's Razor.
Use Occam's Razor.
I had not heard he had been paying her rent for years without his wife's knowledge. If nothing else, it has the appearance of an impropriety, doesn't it?
I can guarantee you that my wife would not be "thrilled" by it even one little bit.
I need a link on the part about paying rent for years without wife's knowledge. Do you have one?
Really, though, this is not the reason folks have moved away from Cain. It was the foreign policy gaffes, the state immigration gaffe, and the lack of constitutional knowledge that really hurt him. (I wasn't warm and cozy with his pro-choice verbiage - however much denied - even before that.)
The clincher for me was when he did the 3 hour debate with Gingrich and kept asking Newt for the answers. It made clear to me that even Herman Cain thought Newt was the expert in the room. Who was I to disagree with him about himself?
This race is over. Gingrich has risen to the top based on quality communication, debating, handling of the media, and policy substance. The remainder of the conservatives should drop out so Romney will realize that he's been smoked.
You did not, but Cain did,
and he tried to blame the bimbo eruptions on him as well.
I did not say he was paying her for a service.

Newt's daughter by his first wife wrote the letter at the above link in which she said this:
My father, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, has been in politics as long as I can remember. And as long as I can remember, media coverage about him has contained misstatements of facts. The vast majority are simple mistakes that are easily corrected, understood and rewoven into an ongoing storyline.
But one of them seems to have taken on a life of its own, and simple corrections have not sufficed to set the record straight. Why does this happen? I can't be sure, but I suspect that the narrative created by these untruths proves to be so much more compelling and more dramatic than what actually happened that it proves irresistible.
I'm talking about the story of my father's visit to my mother while she was in the hospital in 1980.
For years, I have thought about trying to correct the untrue accounts of this hospital visit. After all, I was at the hospital with them, and saw and heard what happened. But I have always hesitated, as it was a private family matter and my mother is a very private person. In addition, for the four people involved, it was one of a million interactions and was not considered a defining event by any of us.
My mother and I have both recently run into quite a few people who hold an inaccurate understanding of this hospital visit. Many think my mother is dead.
So, to correct the record, here is what happened: My mother, Jackie Battley Gingrich, is very much alive, and often spends time with my family. I am lucky to have such a "Miracle Mom," as I titled her in a column this week.
As for my parents' divorce, I can remember when they told me.
It was the spring of 1980.
I was 13 years old, and we were about to leave Fairfax, Va., and drive to Carrollton, Ga., for the summer. My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home.
Soon afterward, my mom, sister and I got into our light-blue Chevrolet Impala and drove back to Carrollton.
Later that summer, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her.
It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won't repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here's what happened:
My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.
Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother.
She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor.
The tumor was benign.
As with many divorces, it was hard and painful for all involved, but life continued.
As have many families, we have healed; we have moved on.
We are not a perfect family, but we are knit together through common bonds, commitment and love.
My mother and father are alive and well, and my sister and I are blessed to have a close relationship with them both.
My sister and I feel that it is time to move on, close the book on this event and focus on building a great future. We will not answer additional questions or make additional comments regarding this meaningless incident, which occurred more than three decades ago.
As I said, my mother is a private person. She will not give media interviews. She deserves respect and should be allowed to live in peace.

Based on this letter from Newt's own daughter who is also the loving daughter of the wife in the hospital, it is obvious that your last post was based on some glaring errors in fact.
Because of that, and because the points of the article are based on those errors of fact, it is impossible to consider it a relevant article.
The 50s called. They want your post back.

Note how nowhere does the daughter say what the conversation that took place in the hospital between her mother and father was about. She just says they went to the hospital for the visit. Her comments say nothing about what took place or the topic discussed between them. So your point is moot. I suggest you read the September 2011 Esquire magazine about Newt in its entirety. Then you will know a whole lot more about Newt Gingrich and how he operates. It’s an eye opener.
