Herman Cain drops out of presidential race
LA times ^ | 3 Dec 2011

Posted on 12/03/2011 11:02:40 AM PST by mandaladon

Herman Cain, the insurgent populist whose candidacy has been ensnared by allegations of sexual impropriety, said Saturday that he is leaving the race for the Republican presidential nomination, saying that the allegations have cast a "cloud of doubt over me and this campaign."

"As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," he said at an event in Atlanta. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt . . . on me, on my family, not because we are not fighters, not because I am not a fighter."

Cain's campaign had sent mixed signals as to his future since Ginger White, an Atlanta woman who claims to have had an affair with Cain for more than a decade, went public with her story earlier this week. While Cain has said he has been "reassessing" his candidacy, he also, at times, has been fiercely defiant, suggesting that unnamed enemies have been trying to do him in and vowing to press forward.

"The pundits would like for me to shut up, drop out and go away," he said. "I am not going to be silenced, and I am not going away."

"Why suspend if the allegations are baseless?"

He did admit to knowing and giving the girl money for 13 years and not telling his wife, so that one is not totally baseless.

Well they did it too another good conservative before him named Alan Keyes. Now my choice is Bachmann or INDEPENDENT. My vote is not to be taken for granted by the GOP. Either the GOP gets it's act together fast or it should be replaced with a true conservative party. The leadership and direction of the GOP in the past twenty years is a disgrace. Now the double talking sellout Newt for those who let FOX News think for them is at the top of the poles. When Newt resigned most in this forum said don't come back. Newt's history is proven He has done nothing too deserve another chance. He didn't even run for another office.

The media and some Liberal cut throats in the GOP win. Cain is gone and now we have two Liberals too choose from. Everybody happy?

Newt might be able to beat Mittens(maybe) in the primary, but I suspect he would go down in flames in the general. I figure Mittens has a 50/50 chance of beating Obama, but he’s just Obama-lite, and in my opinion his candicy at this time, is particularly insulting to Republican/Conservative Americans, when the number one goal is to get rid of a policy under the current regime that Romney himself foisted on Mass. My opinion.........the country is finished. I figure Obamacare gets repealed not by any lawmakers, but by the crushing weight of the debt that is foisted on taxpayers, small business owners, etc. .....in otherwords.......total economic collapse. Only God can save us now.

I have to assume the allegations are true.

But they were true with Slick Willie as well and he got elected TWICE!

Would it bother me, yes.

Should it disqualify him - well if it does then what the Press/DNC/pundits are all saying is that NOBODY shall be allowed to unseat the ONE! Because nobody has the purity to do so.

Because now they have made it a campaign about people's life choices and NOT about the ideas and problems of America.

Nobody CAN win an election on that, nobody is perfect.

Cain's ideas were the most conservative of anyone who was in the race.

If this is what America's elections come down to, Beauty Contests, then we are all truly screwed.

I WISH WE AT LEAST HAD THE CHANCE TO SEE HOW HE WOULD FARE AT THE BALLOT BOX!

I would have liked to have been given the chance to vote for him. He very well may not have fared well, but that is the system I believed in.

Well Obama likes to ensure the field is clear... I wonder which candidate is next.

The miracle will be if all of you get off your fat rumps and start doing something about it.

its not America....its’ as much a pu$$y GOP party that does not fight the dirty fight the way the rats do and the way it needs to be fought....the way McLame refused to take on obama in ‘08...the way the GOP refuses to vet the media....

why isn’t the GOP pouring support into people/groups like Briebart??? O’Keefe?? MRC???? compared to the way the rats support soros driven groups???

until the GOP stands up and fights back and gets operatives in the main stream media to broadcast David Axelrod’s sexual deviant behavior, parades Larry Sinclair in front of the American people, and so on and so on, this sh!t will continue....

want to defeat terrorism?? terrorize the terrorists...

want to end this sh!t?? find out how many times reporters, editors, etc from the WaComPost/NYSlimes/etc have been charged with domestic abuse, dwi, public intoxication, etc, etc...until they get a taste of their own medicine this will not end...

His amnesty comments, his global warming idiocy, and other ideas this guy has signed on to, would prevent that.

NO! I didn’t vote for McCain because he picked Palin. I won’t be voting for Newt for picking Cain.

Folks, what do we stand for, if we’re willing to vote for a man who does things we spend our time her condemning daily?

Whats scary also is that perry doesn't look/act like a candidate that doesn't have a few skeletons (bimbo's) in his closet. Newt we are somewhat educated on. Most of Perry's opponents in his recent elections have tried to bring this very fact to light, even that he is Gay, in the past. There has been smoke, is there Fire?

An analogy for all the people jumping from the cain train right now:

If voting/supporting Cain because he was black and could capture some of the black Vote and neutralize the race card, could you not make the same statement if Perry was/is Gay, think of the gay vote we could capture, unreal, just a thought (I think)

Another victory for Axlerod.

Of course, it was Axelrod, with the blessings of Obama and the democratic party. The intention, other than to get rid of Cain, was to cause infighting within the republican candidates, and people are falling for it. The same was done to Ryan in Chicago, when Obungler was running for the senate. With the blaming of Perry or Romney, the democrats are getting their wishes. Not one candidate has the guts to do this because the risks of getting caught are too high, and they would get caught, unlike the democrats, who has a hold over the media.

Lesson 1. No proof or evidence is any longer required. All that matters is that the accusations have have been made

Now that the political establishment media scumbags on both sides have decide “Accusation equals proof” these same tactics of political lynching will be used against EVERY GOP candidate for Senate and House in 2012.

So enjoy your Pyrrhic victory today morons. These same sleazy tactics you were so quick to embrace and pimp will now be used against your candidates.

Gov. Palin decided on her own to not run, the media didn’t run her off. She would be a strong candidate still, considering the rest of the declared candidates have character problems or are too weak to fight back. If Bachmann can stop saying dumb things, I would support her. She’s the only conservative left in the race. But I would gladly support Gov. Palin if she gets in the race.

Consider the source first before you take such statements at face value. Why on Earth would you ever think that a liberal would give you an honest, objective evaluation about something like this? Would you give a liberal the benefit of your detached, objective views on who should be the liberal candidate?

To add to my rant...

This now represents a much bigger win for Democrats - they now have a weapon that they will use on any and all political enemies.

With this new “Media Purity” weapon, forget Newt because he's NEXT!

They will demand that quits like Cain because his prior personal transgressions make him unworthy.

The orchestration of the destruction of Herman Cain's character is IMO all part of the DNC plan, one that bring the politics of personal destruction to all-time levels and now that Cain resignation has given their new weapon life they plan to use it for all its worth.

It really is the ONLY card they have left to play to retain the Power to RULE America.
