I can’t believe all the “doomsdayers” who are predicting the fall of the nation over this decision.

If our forefathers had given up this easily, we would still be British with red-hair and bad teeth.

If the men who fought WWII had given up this easily, my grandmother would have never been liberated from Auschwitz and I wouldn’t even be a zygote.

NUT UP people! One man dropping out of the race does not necessarily herald the doom of the entire republic or even the election. It’s starting to sound like a bunch of DU idiots in here who threaten to leave the country every time something doesn’t go their way.

I liked Cain, would have likely voted for him. But he isn’t the Messiah- whether you’re waiting for the Messiah’s second visit or his first. :-)

So WHY did Alveda King and the Colonel who spoke before Cain give us the impression he would continue to press on?

Had he not even informed them?

How easy people forget, that the only politician that lost his position because of “Monica Gate”, was Bob Livingston.

We will never win playing the “Republicans have to be ‘holier-than-thou’ game.

Gingrich/Cain was my tagline after their ‘conversation’. There was clearly mutual respect and affection - good chemistry and shared humor.

Newt should do it - he hates the media - payback!!!

No, I grieve for America that this decent can have this happen to him, and that the only people who run for office and win are turds.

Maybe my attitude is affected by the fact that I’m rereading Atlas Shrugged, and seeing how the looters rig the game. I think we just witnessed them doing that.

Devastating day. Huge victory for the Left and Obama.

Bachmann and Santorum are the only ones left for me. Otherwise, I write in. No way in hell will Perry, Newt or Romney get my vote.

Yes, indeed.

I am done and I will now happily vote for Obama, so that he can finish destroying the nation!

Obama might as well own what’s coming. When Obamacare destroys the economy, etc.

My only concern is Supreme Court nominees, etc. He can do a lot of damage, particularly because the Republicans have no ... spine.

This is so depressing. I really like Mr. Cain. I saw him on Jimmy Kimmel and the man has a great sense of humor.

The miracle will be if all of you get off your fat rumps and start doing something about it.

My rump ain't fat pal. I am in fighting shape and ready to join the jihad to bring Obama and the left down to hell.

Enough of my rant? This is a rant?

Folks, what do we stand for, if we’re willing to vote for a man who does things we spend our time her condemning daily?

Seems like a rational fair question to me. I'm not sure why it elicited the, "Pick your nose if you like..." and "...enough of your rant." responses.

Are we or aren't we against signing on to the global warming nonsense?

Are we or aren't we against signing on to amnesty for illegals?

Are we or aren't we in favor of Obamacare, and all aspects of it?

Aren't these the guidelines we should keep in mind when picking our nominee?

There's no attempt on my part to single you out. In general this is what I think our people should be keeping in mind, and I don't think it's irrational to say so.

You obviously are an Obama supporter trolling this website.

Well, if he is, I am too; I concur with his sentiment. Professional politicians tend to be those who have been through a vetting process when it comes to scandals, and if they've survived up to a certain point you can be sure that there are few if any skeletons remaining in the closet. Upstarts like Cain, if they're human at all, have all kinds of circumstances in their past that have the potential to be mined by the opposition.

In Cain's case, the scandal was directed at the conservative base, and they've obviously decided that they don't like what they see.

Suspending campaign means he may perhaps be back later.

Let's hope so.

In the meantime, what's next?

Bachmann is by far the most conservative candidate with a proven track record of integrity, but she is being overlooked at our own peril.

Newt? He has done far worse than Cain ever did in his personal life.

Perry? Meh

I like Bachmann a lot.

I wish others did.
