” I wasn’t agreeing with you.” <<

Oh. Well then, accept my remark to your odd little post as a free gift from me, a shoe that fits you also. No charge, and with my compliments. I called no one a Romney bot, but clearly referred to name callers with no answers to anything whatsoever. Ever.

I really think when you find yourself down in the weeds convincing yourself that Teddy Roosevelt was a villain, you are no longer discussing the reality of Obama or his possible republican challengers. Yes, Teddy Roosevelt founded the Bull Moose Progressive party. No, that didn’t make him a villain.

If you want to contrast a TR presidency with a Woodrow Wilson presidency, I will take the TR republican every single time.

As we know, Ronald Reagan created the Education Dept and granted amnesty. However Ronald Raeagan was a great American and a great president.

I’m an equal opportunity defender, I have defended every single republican that comes in for this treatment.

Newts my alternative until our perfect candidate comes along, the one with absolutly no personal flaws, the perfect parent and spouse with the perfect family, the one that belongs to our church and is a church leader, the one who has had the perfect business experience with no disgruntled former employees or customersand who always made a profit but not too big of a profit. One who has held elected office and who has only cast votes tha all of us here on FR agree with but didn’t stay in office long enough to be an insider, one who has a record so that we see for the last 30 years they have been in agreement with each of us on what the ideal conservative solution to all of the government problems, possibly even someone who the media will fawn over and maybe give joe scarborough a tingle down his leg.
Until then Newt will be my alternative, warts and all. I’ve been around a long time and I appreciate what he’s done for our country, I haven’t always agreed with him but have most of the time. I don’t even agree with my wife all the time and she’s the nearest to a perfect person I know.

Teddy was a “Progressive” which means socialist. So if Newt is a Teddyite it means he is a socialist.

Oy Teddy Roosevelt was not a socialist, period. Going on about TR and using him as the measure of villifying modern candidates is an exercise in historical fantasy.

Reminds me of all the articles by people who know nothing of Roman history, claiming the Roman Empire collapsed because their cups had lead, and it weakened their bone mass. Maybe we should ask republican candidates which Roman emperor they identify with.

Back to modern day reality, please. And TR was a hero, patriot and great American.

Newt can’t “be brought along”. If there is one thing I would think we could all agree on about Newt, he is supremely egotistical. He thinks he is always right, and that the rest of the world just isn’t smart enough for him. Everything he does is based on his profoundly held belief that he knows what he’s doing, and that what he’s doing, no matter what it is, is the absolutely right thing to do.

If I wanted someone who could be “brought along”, I’d have pushed for Chris Christie.

Posting a bond is useful for those who have so much money that they don’t need insurance. Of course, if you have so much money you don’t need insurance, you also could easily afford to buy some cut-rate insurance that met the “requirements”, and still pay for your health care out of pocket if you didn’t like your insurance company.

Why should you have to prove to the government that you can pay for your own health care? Can’t you just go without if you don’t have the money? Well, no, because we simply refuse to let people die on the sidewalk in front of a hospital because they didn’t save money or buy health insurance.

And that is the problem. So long as government refuses to let people suffer the consequences of their actions, government will be tempted to coerce people to make government’s refusal less “expensive” for government.

Frankly, the current system is working just fine. Everybody who absolutely needs critical care can get it, but it’s not so obvious that people are willing to drop health insurance and count on it. The burdens of the uninsured are largely overblown, and frankly Obamacare itself costs taxpayers far more money than we spend indirectly covering people who show up without money at the hospital.

I’ll vote for the first candidate who is willing to stand up and say that people have the RIGHT to die of curable illness if they choose to do so by not preparing themselves financially.

Ronald Reagan created the Education Dept and granted amnesty

Not so much progressive man. Jimmuh Carter signed the DOE into existence and Reagan wanted to get rid of it before it took hold. He was opposed by people like Newt Gingrich and his PROGRESSIVE ilk.

And yep, he was absolutely duped into granting amnesty by a Congress that guaranteed securing the border too. This is why half of the republicans outright refuse to deal with progressive lies now before the border gets taken care of.

What made TR a villain was enbracing BS like Eugenics (PURE evil) and the philosphy that the State has the right to dictate what a man does with his income.

Sorta like WW, when you think about it. But then, you progressives whine like bitches when a democrat does it and ignore it when Republicans do it.

Hitler was man of the year before becoming one the most evil SOBs in world history. Do we still give him the nod for "being a hero"?

You can love TR, that's cool. You can defend every single republican if you want. Great, you're a progressive. Just dont expect conservatives like me to love and defend them.

I’m not a progressive. Supporting Theodore Roosevelt does not require a person to be a progressive.

When you used Hitler as your example, I guess to prove that a great patriot like TR could be evil evil, I have no idea what you are.

My guess is you are a bitter person who can’t stand any republican or conservative who doesn’t agree with every detail of your brand of pure blooded conservatism.

I say that because I have run across many, and had to listen to them spit out through gritted teeth how they don’t care if they elect the ultra liberal democrat they will never vote for that *%^^##*** republican. So have fun.

Maybe, but calling him a hero...

You dont think Eugenics is evil evil? How about infecting our once small govt with the notion that it has the right to dicate what a man does with his income? How about the litany of BS that man infected the govt with?

My guess is you are a bitter person who can’t stand any republican or conservative who doesn’t agree with every detail of your brand of pure blooded conservatism.
Not a very good guess. pure blooded? LOL, hell I just want one characteristic. You prolly think George Bush was a conservative.

Lemme pull an au contraire on ya. I'm sorry but not voting for a big govt progressive 'R' doesn't equal voting for a big govt progressive 'D'. However, you can actually, and logically say that voting for a big govt progressive 'R' is the same as voting for the big govt progressive 'D' - minus the tax cut. You have fun with that.

No I’m sorry you are wrong in many respects. First, Teddy Roosevelt was a real life hero in battle and in other aspects of his life and as president.

“Conservatives” elect liberal democrats by staying home or wasting third party votes. Whether or not you vote for Obama, if your rejection even of Newt Gingrich or whoever puts Obama in office, you have nonetheless helped elect a horrible out and out leftist.

Teddy Roosevelt lived in a different age and his version of flirting with the then new idea of eugenics was not the same evil as what the nazis later did with it. Or maybe you want to join the George Washington was evil crowd (and George Washington was a great hero) because he damn well owned slaves and I’d say that is a greater evil than mistakenly thinking eugenics was a good idea.

As to the income tax, Woodrow Wilson signed that into law. WW did a lot of other bad things.

In that particular election, it was Teddy Roosevelt’s one great sin, the sin you don’t bother to mention. He ran against Taft as a third party and doomed the republican’s reelection out of his own inflated sense of ego and ideological purity. That is exactly what people threaten to do on here every single day, and it brings the real evils of a Woodrow Wilson (who by the way was an ugly racist) into our lives, and oddly you focus on TR or Gingrich, but not on the greater threat of WW or Obama.

Give it a thought but you probably won’t, because I have seen this many times and it’s like trying to convince TR not to run as a third party. But then by your logic, you must support TR on that decision and you don’t care that WW was elected.
