President Obama won't go to Hawaii while payroll tax is in limbo

President Obama is not vacationing in Hawaii with his wife and children while the extension of the payroll tax holiday remains in limbo, and has warned GOP congressional leaders to stay in town as well.

Obama had planned to fly to Hawaii with his family on Dec. 17 and stay there through New Year’s.

After getting ripped by GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney over his vacation plans, Obama told Senate Democratic leaders Wednesday that he will stay in town until Congress finishes work on the payroll tax holiday, unemployment benefits and other issues.

Obama told Democratic leaders: “Michelle and the girls are going to have a great time in Hawaii, they don’t need me there,” according to Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.).

Your family shouldn't be vacationing either. After all, you've called for "shared sacrifice". Where's the sacrifice your family is making?

Good grief, we've got to get this guy OUT!!!

GOP Stand your ground. NO NEW TAXES, and as for the SS/Medicare tax cut - it only hastens to bankrupt the already bankrupt SS/Medicare systems.

Actually, any President of the United States of America would be in Hawaii today, if that President had the tiniest notion of this day’s meaning. Sadly our current POTUS’s TOTUS has no configuration for commemorating American History.

-——they like to double the cost.——

Actually, she fears his plane will blow up and is so afraid she always flies separate.

By extending the payroll tax cut, funding that feeds the Social Security Trust will continue to be reduced. Why is Obama so intent on depleting the SS funding , but he's not interested in giving middle class tax cuts? Didn't he say a year ago when the payroll tax was reduced it was temporary? Seems like he thinks it needs to be permanent.

As far as his 17-day vacation goes, I can't think of a chief executive less deserving than time off than the slacker-in-chief that occupies the White House occasionally when he's not campaigning or fund raising.

Why do people insist on calling it a ‘payroll’ tax cut. It is a SOCIAL SECURITY tax cut which does exactly as you say, it hastens the day SS runs dry. Republicans have a winning issue if they would just explain to people the tax cut today from less SS taxes just means you will be starving later when SS runs out of cash. Barry is hell bent on destroying this country, and the ‘payroll tax cut’ is just another example.

The Posts in this thread pretty well say it all.

1. They always travel on separate planes anyway.
2. The kids sure don’t need him to have fun.
3. This gives him a chance to stay here with Reggie.
4. It’s going to be rough making it without Michelle around, no one to wait on him but the White House staff, and Reggie.

I bet he makes it to Hawaii before Christmas though.

Romney blasted Obama’s vacation plans on Monday. “I just think it’s time to have a president those idea of being ‘hands on’ doesn’t mean getting a better grip on the golf club,” Romney told potential caucus voters in Iowa.

Bravo for Mitt. That was a great line.

Congress ought to counter with a permanent 2% income tax cut on everyone, instead of playing around with this temporary 2% SS tax cut.

Boehner should adjourn the House and book a vacation in Hawaii.

That would be an absolute hoot! Unfortunately we talking first of all, the Stupid Cowardly Party - the GOP, and secondly we are talking Crybaby Cowardly Boehner. For "Boner" to do something like this would require him to get a pair of balls & chutzpah, and then for the GOP (House critters & the sniveling Senators) to collectively get balls & chutzpah for all of them. Which ain't gonna happen & never will.

As much as a I hate Reid & Pelosi, sometimes I wish I could transplant them into McConnell & Boner, just to see how the other side would work if they were in McConnell's & Boner's shoes. If that were the case, they would be 0dumb0's biggest nightmares & antagonists, rather than golfing buddies.

so... another 2 plane required vacation plan. this time, 6000 miles each.

not like he could do like the rest of us and postpone the family vacation because ‘daddy’ f*cked up his job so badly he has to stay home and fix his mistakes

i’d still like to know how often he went to hawaii before working in government. i’d also like to know how long those trips were

he spends a lot of time f*cking off that i’m supposed to pay for

Obama is trying to starve the Social Security Trust Fund to get consumers to spend beyond their means.

The Republicans should have no part of it.

Uh, the Social Security Trust Fund has always been nothing more than an empty shell. What Obama is doing is shifting part of the cost of paying Social Security to current receipients from FICA taxes to borrowing (or Fed money printing).

“Everyone should pay their fair share.”

Everyone wants to be in the 1 %.

Everyone should pay 1 % personal Federal Income Tax, with NO exemptions.

Call it the “Basic Citizen Fair 1 % FIT.”

All the lib hand-wringing about not including a soak-the-rich tax increase in the House bill is pure politics. The proposal to raise taxes on incomes over $1 million has already been blocked on a cloture vote in the Senate.

Let me repeat: the tax increase is already DOA in the Senate.

Obama would only say this if he knew there was already an agreement in place... meaning, the GOP will cave to his demands. Thus, this is probably part of the deal:

“GOP: Charge wealthy more for Medicare to cover payroll tax extension”.

Is the dog flying separate also? I think he flew separatly this summer to Martha’s Vineyard. Isn’t that a muslim thing that they can’t be in close proximity to dogs?

He MUST be defeated this election cycle. Most small business owners I talk to are just hanging on till after the election and if he gets back in they are just going to throw in the towel. Of course, maybe that is what 0 really wants, except there will be less of other peoples money to spend or give to those living off the govt dole.
