SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- At least 85 people were arrested as police cleared San Francisco's Occupy encampment early Wednesday, police said.

Officials had not compiled exact numbers by Wednesday afternoon, but most of the approximately 85 people were cited and released after the daybreak raid, said Officer Albie Esparza.

About 15 people who were arrested on a variety of charges, ranging from resisting arrest to assault with a deadly weapon, were still in custody, Esparza said.

More than 100 officers carried out the raid, Esparza said. Afterward, officers blocked access to the former camp site as trash crews raked up paper and plastic bottles, removed chairs and other belongings that had accumulated there over the past two months, and pressure-washed the sidewalks.

A handful of protesters stood by, occasionally jeering at officers but otherwise heeding their instructions to stay back.

"Negotiations had broken down," he (Police Chief) told the San Francisco Chronicle. "We weren't getting our emails returned."

UFB...negotiating via emails???? What the h3ll is wrong with us?

Perhaps the cops should have pressure-wased the Flea-baggers too.

Cited and released, That’s one of the problems.

There is no real reason for them not to come back.

Give them some pink T-shirts and 30 days in a tent under Sherriff Joe and they won’t come back.

For obvious reasons that might not work in San Francisco.

These losers might have a pink-undies fetish and actually find this an upgrade to their existence at the park.

How about putting the pressure washers and rakes in their hands, with a number of the usual sociopathic LEOs manning whips and bullhorns to keep the laborers corralled as these malcontents decontaminate the park they once infested.

It kind of fits under the half-serious joke when discovering one doesn't have enough money to cover the restaurant tab, that the rest of the evening will be spent washing dishes. These squatters didn't pony up any of the required fees, bonds and permits to "occupy" that any lawful group would have been required to do, in effect not able to "cover the tab" so let them wash some dishes - just to be fair..

“Obama’s Army of One World Stooges.”

It would be a mistake to underestimate these stooges as they have shown a great deal of dedication to their (mistaken) cause. Sleeping out in the cold for months at a time is not something done on a whim. These people have shown themselves to be hard core leftists and as history has proven, hard core leftists dont mind spilling blood for their cause.

Let’s see how brave these Leftists are when they’re actually confronted with the threat of bodily harm. They know the cops won’t hurt them, and they’d only get a slap on the patties in court.

But let them face rubber bullets, tasers, and truncheons wielded by righteous police, and see where their bravery goes.

“But let them face rubber bullets, tasers, and truncheons wielded by righteous police, and see where their bravery goes.”

Thus far the police have shown little inclination to forcibly deal with these folks, either because they are sympathetic as union members, or because the local mayors are sympathetic. IMO the tea party is more likely to be the target of violence than these idiots.

Or, if the gods had an ironic sense of humor, they were gone because they were foreclosed.
