Corzine's Loss May Be Soros's Gain
The Wall Street Journal ^ | DECEMBER 8, 2011 | GREGORY ZUCKERMAN AND DANA CIMILLUCA

Investor George Soros's family fund bought about $2 billion of European bonds formerly owned by MF Global Holdings Ltd., the debt that helped force the securities firm to file for bankruptcy protection Oct. 31, according to people close to the matter.

Under the direction of MF Global's former chief executive, Jon S. Corzine, the firm accumulated $6.3 billion of short-term debt issued by various European nations, mostly from Italy, in a bid to boost trading profits. Over the summer, this debt led to nervousness by investors, regulators and ratings companies, resulting in the firm's collapse just over a month ago.

Can someone please prosecute Soros, now?

It would be great to send the rotten pos to the general population of the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary.

If I were a MF creditor, I’d sure as hell want to see the prices those bonds traded at. It would be childsplay for someone as experienced as Soros to pluck a wounded goose like Corzine, cutting the cash left over to pay off the account holders.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he had his grubby mitts on the Fed as well. We need to audit/abolish this monster, not to mention dodd-frank. I really don’t particularly like Ron Paul (not much in the personality area) he has some ideas that really bother me, but I don’t think some of his larger proposals like doing away with the Fed, the EPA, DOE are bad ones. I think I might take another look at him.

So many Ron Paul supporters are total nuts, that they turn me off.

I do like his proposal to immediately cancel “debt” “owed” to the Federal Reserve. What did those SOBs do to generate the money to loan? Pluck a couple of keys on a keyboard?

I also like the idea of immediately cutting a trillion dollars from our federal budget.

If Gingrich will adopt these two ideas, I will be liking him much more than I currently do.

Also, come out and say he is going to direct the justice department to investigate Soros and if reasonable proof is found of a crime, prosecute him.

I’m all for auditing the fed but abolishing it is a different story. Something about the likes of Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and John Conyers setting monitary policy makes me queasy.

Looks like Soros paid $2 billion for $4.8 billion of bonds that mature Dec 2012.

Only crooks that are friends of Obama get deals like this.

Did anyone watch the Corzine hearing today? I thought the questions were very softball.

Anyone hear Dan, a broker, on Savage program today? He was the real thing sounding every bit like someone who lost over $1M for himself and clients. Was doing business w/ (century old) MF Global for 15-20 years.

I was in the car and reception was in and out (Canadian station override) nor am I at all adept but he seemed to say Soros gave Corzine the advise, yet he said it was longer term securities that Euro Central Banks have been buying to bail out system there.

Don’t think Savage has podcasts or transcripts. Too bad- caller was on for 20-30 minutes I’d guess. I think I came in near beginning and it ran 20 minutes anyways.

I think Soros is somehow tied in to the Fed. He seems to be able to navigate too easily in those waters to not be complicit in a lot of what has been going on.

Thanks FreeAtlanta.

Gosh, it’s almost as if Corzine is another victim of Zero and Co’s party purges.
