President Obama's attack dogs have a new target Newt Gingrich.
The Democratic National Committee on Sunday released a campaign ad that tags Gingrich as the original Tea Partier.
The ad hit the Internet less than four hours after Gingrich showed he could take the heat as the latest Republican front-runner during Saturdays GOP primary debate in Iowa.
Gingrichs foes warned his temper would erupt under a combined grilling from his opponents and the media.
But he didnt self-destruct, and so became the latest target of the Obama re-election campaign, which until now had reserved its ammo for Mitt Romney.
I want to invite you to a party a Tea Party, a smiling Gingrich says in the DNC video.
The ad tags Gingrichs positions from calling in 1984 to privatize Social Security, to seeking to end Medicare in 1995 to protecting tax loopholes in 2011.
Newt Gingrich was a Tea Party politician , even before there was a Tea Party, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a post-debate statement.
Gingrich polling so far shows hes been able to fend off attacks on his record, including sniping from fellow Republicans, who argue Gingrich has shown himself to be temperamentally unsuited to be in the White House.

Thanks for the great press, DNC.
I guess these idiots still don’t understand that the “original tea partiers” are THE PEOPLE THAT FOUNDED THIS FREAKING COUNTRY!
Good, and I hope he wears that label like badge of honor and a sure sign that he’s going in the right direction. (His enemies are honoring him, hopefully, all the way to the WH.)
Keep that mouth of yours flapping, Schultzy and Speaker Gingrich’s poll numbers will keep going up. Go Newt!
Speaker Gingrich doesn’t run away from the Tea Party like the current Speaker Boehner. This is more than just getting Obama out of the WH - we have to get an effective Speaker of the House. Perhaps Gingrich’s election will help us in that effort as well
Oh I can’t tell you how delicious this posting is - in so many ways. And yes, Newt is in many ways an original tea partier!
Not entirely convinced Newty's entitled to wear the moniker, but nor should the DNC say that like it's a bad thing!
>> I’d like to see Obama bring this up in a debate with Newt, let Gingrich educate the audience on the truth about the Tea Party, not the media/DNC crap. >>
Wouldn’t hurt to hear Gingrich educate a few Freepers about that same thing actually......
It's pretty cool that the DNC is running campaign ads for our side.
GO, NEWT!!
The Democrats have a POS running for President. If they were smart they would dump him and find a candidate.
It is beyond my small brain to figure out why the Democrats back this man. Are they blind to what he is doing?
He'd probably teach me a few things too ;)
Well - at one time, Newt actually pretended to be a fiscal conservative. Many of us remember “his” “Contract With America”... even though chunks were vetoes by Little Willie. Other parts were half-heartedly pursued, and many of the good changes made were undone by back-room deals and Clintonista wrangling.
But still - Newt at least acted like a conservative back then. Too bad he has decided to be a RINO douchebag... Of all the reasons I cannot vote for Newt, and it isn’t the infidelity - though that is an awfully clear picture of “character” - its his proclivity to make decisions with zero evidence or research. His casting call on the couch with Pelosi sealed it for me. He jumped off the high-dive with a fully-committed and adamant power-jump - blaming mankind for global warming, and calling for the Cap and Tax fraud. I will not forget his bad judgment on that - and no apology will bring me around. That kind of very bad judgment needs to be kept FAR from the White House.
The coming election may very well be a bellwether year for voter disenfranchisement. There will probably be no candidates on the November ballot that I can, in good conscience vote for. When McLame got the nomination last time and I held my nose to vote for him in the General election, I was absolutely sick to my stomach for days (of course, the news of Obama’s “landslide victory” didn’t help). But I vowed that I would not do that again. A candidate doesn’t have to be perfect (I’m not, and no-one else is...), but he (or she) must be right on the core issues, and have demonstrated character and good judgment.
Herman Cain was the train I was on, until the questions and accusations piled up. Is he guilty? I don’t know - his actions have not been those of a man with nothing to hide. I just don’t understand why someone would run for the highest office in the nation with the kind of baggage he is accused of having. Further - While the press is “free”, it (and his accusers) have no right, constitutionally or otherwise, to make false accusations, and Cain has a very real case or two if he is truly innocent of the charges. WE remember the accusations against GW Bush - and he pushed through them with the truth.
Wow, the DNC really tapped into the motherlode of political dirt on Newt here. NOT.
I don’t care who you, that’s funny!
I have to say, though, that I’m glad to see the other candidates riding herd on Newt on a some things. It will make him a better candidate/nominee and it won’t hurt him in the general. And Newt is the last guy who should ever get the idea that he’s being annointed, rather than having to earn it.
The DNC just took Newt to the next level and that’s hilarious!
>> It’s pretty cool that the DNC is running campaign ads for our side. >>
YEP! And the really cool thing is that this ad campaign is helping to shore up one of the few remaining weak spots for Newt in the conservative electorate.
(The Washington elites started that process last week, and now the DNC is helping. If McCain would just endorse Mitt, the deal would be done. )
Newt Gingrich, Tea Party favorite - anyone for tea?
The DNC actually did Newt a huge favor here, because, actually, his Tea Party bona fides is not all that well-established (regardless of recent support by Tea Partiers).
Saying it doesn’t make it so, but it does help by pushing Newt to accept that moniker as a badge of honor and, more importantly, to push him farther along in his understanding of what it means to *us,* the Tea Party.
A most important point. None of us should lose sight of the imperative of electing as many Tea Party Republicans as possible up and down the ticket.
I think it's the other way around.
As Speaker, Newt and his new Republican Revolution after 40 years of Democrat domination cut the deficit, cut the taxes, reformed welfare, balanced the budget four years running, blocked HillaryCare, stymied President Clinton, and extended the soaring Reagan Economy through the nineties. Not bad for a “RINO.” And he’s admitted the couch deal was a dumb idea.
That video shows exactly how Newt would eviscerate Obama. The interviewer could not wait to away from Newt as Newt was handing him his head. I am now at the point where I have to say “Go Newt”. That video was great.
Merry Christmas, Newt.
Man, the DNC is out of touch or maybe they are too busy Occupying Wall Street and shaking them down for donations.
OMG that is a FABULOUS VIDEO! I know a lot of the Newt haters are probably Palin fans and think that those two are mutually exclusive. NOT
And this shows why Newt is surging. He’s not only the best at knocking back Obama - he is the best at defending other Republicans. That was one of the most passionate defenses of Sarah Palin that I’ve ever heard. He took that dumb reporter to school.
Shame on those who don’t recognize that either. (they should look at your video link).
Democrats forgot....Bubba opted for ss privatization.
>> None of us should lose sight of the imperative of electing as many Tea Party Republicans as possible up and down the ticket. >>
Right on the money! And I think Newt debating Obama and a lot of good tea party candidates running for congress would work very well together as Newt eviscerated the Obama Occupy vision of America in favor of the Tea Party vision in the head line debates.
Never in Michelle’s First Lady Hood have I been so excited about our country.....
This little ad is peanuts and balloons compared to what is coming. Winter is here and all is snow bells, but if money talks, and we have learned that it does, the Marxists have it to spend and will buy some noise and trouble when spring comes. The democrats who dumped Hillary are going to have to step up to the plate, maybe risk their life and fortune to help stop this machine.
Fortunately for Newt, they may not be able to damage his family, since there are some liberal elements to those close to him.
Who can defend Newt better than Newt? He will be living on the ropes before long and awfully busy defending himself, his family and his friends around the clock, so it’s best that he speak up now on the points of his platform and his agenda for the future. Somehow, Newt seems to be the only one of all the candidates who has the experience to perhaps hold up, under the coming onslaught.
I certainly hope he makes it. Prayers up.

How long before that totally dishonest “Wither on the Vine” stuff gets recycled by the Democrats?
This big mouth bimbo thinks that her diatribe will cause the TEA party to turn toward mittens?
This will only increase the Newt's numbers. What a dope.
For those interested ping!
That is high praise indeed. Does he merit it?
“...- blaming mankind for global warming, and calling for the Cap and Tax fraud. I will not forget his bad judgment on that - and no apology will bring me around. That kind of very bad judgment needs to be kept FAR from the White House.”
Amen, and add to the bad judgement list Newt’s endorsement of Alvin & Heidi Toffler’s book: “The Third Way” which advocated blending communism with capitolism.
Anyone in favor of that is unfit to hold any office in this country. I distinctly remember the press conf. Newt held where he did exactly that when he was elected Speaker.
I have a very hard time thinking of Gingrich as a member of the TEA party. Perhaps as a CongressCritter, he sort of fits the bill—but his personal life is certainly a mess.
Whatever, if he gets the nomination, I’ll vote for him.
but his personal life is certainly a mess.
This campaign commercial is supposed to make elderly people afraid of Newt and the Tea Party. Newt will take away your social security! It will work if Republicans are not careful.
I hope they keep saying this kind of stuff, this will make Reagan's victory against Carter seem like it was close.
I always considered the TEA party was a family values organization—but maybe that was just the ones I met.
Whatever—I still don’t much like Noot—but will vote for him if he gets the nomination. I don’t see that our side has a real winner for us to choose from.
I was really enthused by both Palin and Cain-—but we all know what happened to them.................
Its beginning to look a lot like Newt.
Let us pray that Debbie Wasserman-Schulz stays the face and the voice of the DNC.
I know exactly how you feel. Having grown up as my father’s daughter, I have never trusted politicans, though. If they turn out to do wise and good things while in power, I am pleasantly surprised. That does not happen often. :)
“This campaign commercial is supposed to make elderly people afraid of Newt and the Tea Party.”
Dems like having it both ways. At the “Kill the Bill” rally on Capitol Hill, March 20, 2010, a young lib rode by Tea Partiers, raising his clenched fist at the ‘old fogies’ in his estimation, screaming “Kill Social Security!” On the one hand, they claim the TP is old folks, yet they are trying to scare old folks about the Tea Party and SS?
It'd be a great pleasure for me to campaign, support and vote for someone I can really agree with on most issues, respect, appreciate and get excited about rather than holding my nose and just voting against the lesser of two weevils.
In Part 1, Newt challenges the Wake County GOP to do all it can in 2012 to make Barack Obama a 1 term president. He discusses energy policy, our debt crisis, the president's failure to lead on Libya, one nation under God, the Declaration of Independence and unalienable rights.

In Part 2 Newt addresses the way left wing government erodes American Exceptionalism, why religious freedom is opposed by dictatorships, the work ethic, unemployment compensation, economic growth, 2+2=4, and government barriers to job creation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y42oQgOb7OE
In Part 3, Newt discusses the importance of litigation reform, a more favorable tax code for job creation including abolishing the capital gains and death tax, and executive orders that should be signed on the first day the new president takes office. [Abolish all W/H czars, reinstate Reagan bans on taxpayer money for abortion, etc].
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMFV5h-wi7k
In Part 4, Newt confronts the sobering fact that ten years after 9/11 we are not yet winning in our conflict with radical Islamists. He draws analogies with the Cold War about how we need to rethink our strategies. He also discusses the Libyan engagement.
Newt presents a real conundrum for the Commiecrats.
They threw everything they had at him while he was Speaker, a redux of what they did to Reagan in the ‘80’s.
Since being the Speaker, Newt has been relatively trouble free and now, all the Commiecrats can come up with are replays of old songs.
Looks to me like The Messiah better crawl back into that manger and cover himself with Donkey Sh*t.
er, make that voting against the WORST of two weevils.
Hate it when I do that.

It’s commie agitprop and psychological warfare intended to fracture the right through infighting and should be dismissed as such.
