Report: Iran says it can control the drone
By the CNN Wire Staff
updated 5:29 AM EST, Tue December 13, 2011

(CNN) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday his country can "control" the U.S. drone aircraft that Iran claims it recently brought down, Venezuelan state TV reported.

"There are people here who can control this spy plane, surely we can analyze this plane too," Ahmadinejad told VTV. "The systems of Iran are as advanced as this system."

President Barack Obama said Monday that the United States has asked Iran to return the drone aircraft that Iran claims it recently brought down in Iranian territory.

"We've asked for it back. We'll see how the Iranians respond," Obama said.

Will Iran share stealth tech with China? Ahmadinejad comments to VTV seemed to suggest that Iran did not have plans to return the aircraft.

I hear that Samir Nagheenanajar is the head of Iranian tech support so I don't think the drone is going to be flying in anytime soon.

This is just too absurd and the final icing on the cake for me. The “O” man HAD to have placed the drone on their doorstep in the middle of the night like Santa Claus. One thing after another, Mr. Obama has crippled our National and Foreign agenda. It has all been just too surreal, too incredibly back wards and damaging at every step. I think now, more than ever, that “our” POTUS is the most successful one man sleeper cell the enemy has ever planted in our country, from his very conception...which was where again?

“We’ve asked for it back. We’ll see how the Iranians respond,” Obama said.”

A clever ploy to get Iranians to die laughing.

Norton Anti virus has detected a Trojan/Hijack virus and will now execute detonation.exe which will automatically triger file vaporization/drone/exe.

If it were fake, why would Obama be asking, "pretty please", to get it back?

Obama's options:

1. Call it a fake and lose any opportunity to act on this charade in the future.

2. Tell Iran to keep it.

3. Ask for it back.

The drone should have self-destructed or been obliterated by a cluster-bomb — preferably when the Iranian recovery team was gathered around the wreck site. Instead Obama meekly asks for the drone’s return?! Lovely!

If the drone had "self destructed" the Iranians would have taken the cadaver of a two year old killed in a traffic accident and photographed it among the wreckage. I cannot believe that anyone in the U.S. military would ever have conceived of building a drone like this without assuming that some of them would fall into unfriendly hands. I cannot believe that the response to the loss was improvised by the U.S. military. They must have been fully prepared for this eventuality and accepted it as one of the costs or risks of such an operation.

Going all hellfire and sending in troops and warplanes after a pilotless drone negates the value of a pilotless drone.

Rigging the thing to self destruct is a two edged sword. Besides the cost and weight associated with the self destruct mechanisms, you have the problem of handling and maintenance, plus inadvertent and unnecessary losses associated with false alarms. While the current situation is far from ideal, I think it is about the best we can hope for and actually shows our advantages.

How many hours was it before the Iranians stopped laughing?

I agree whole heartedly “Lonesome” and I just cant believe with all of our technology and computer knowledge, you’d think they could have come up with a 1960’s version of “Mission Impossibles “ melting self destruct cassette tape decks, pens, radios? or whatever. Whereby no one is killed except maybe the idiots picking the drone up and getting goo all over their hands. I was in Naval Intelligence 30 years ago and some technologies we we had then did not become public until a good twenty years later...makes me wonder...I’m so perplexed about all of this.

“Report: Iran says it can control the drone”

Well... I don’t know if that’s true, but Shift/F7 starts the engine and Cntl/Alt/”{” makes it bank left.

Wouldn’t this be fun:

U.S. spymasters have set the drone landing up as a Trojan Horse. When the Iranians try to download data from the onboard computer system, a major virus is set free to destroy Iranian military computers, causing the shutdown of nuclear capabilities.

Just a thought....

“Their drone looks fake.”

It’s the wrong color in every picture I’ve seen, it’s tan and should be shades of gray. Something is weird with the whole situation.
