“I’m one of those who will bolt if Romney is the nominee.”

Me too, but that is about the only way. I don’t think conservatives will ever get anywhere putting their faith, effort, cash and passion into the manifestly elitist, statist GOP. That said, none of the existing third parties are a solution either. Never has there been a better opportunity for either conservative or libertarian third parties to move into the power and trust vacuum created by the RepublicanDemocrat binary party. They did nothing. I regard them as mere ego pedestals.

Still, I will crawl over broken glass to vote against Romney and against Obama. Just a gesture, but so be it.

Of course, but my point is they should have been using my money to run ads against Gore and Kerry--they didn't, they used it to run ads against Bush.

There is no way in heck that Bush was more dangerous than Gore or Kerry.

I realized then exactly what these cowards/thieves really are. They're less noble than Democrats. At least Democrats are willing to run and run the risk of winning or losing. The Constiution Party has not intention of ever winning anything. They're just there to try to dupe the gullible into sending them money and then blowing it.

The polling is different this year. The dissatisfaction numbers are at an all-time high. That could lead to a different response.

Forget a third party.

We need a second one.

“If these cowards think they have answers, then why aren’t they running as Republicans?”

Because the GOP is not a conservative party.

If obama is reelected due to a conservative third party candidate it is NOT the fault of the voters.

Nonsense. It certainly will be the fault of the gullible who chose to help reelect Obama than to get involved in the Republican party and improve it.

Please see my posts where I tell about my experience with the CP, which I consider to be a bunch of cowards and theives. They are liars--they have NOTHING to offer, except to elect Obama.

Well as I have been saying since 2005, W destroyed the GOP as a conservative party. These days there is no conservative party, so all the conservative leaning people do not have anyone at the presidential level to vote for. All the populists don’t have a candidate either. Mitt/Newt, Obama is not a choice, it is not a change in direction and it is not a return to small constitutional government so a conservative third party is fine with me. It would be nice to finally have a conservative to vote for and support.

Lately, the ERs pick the Rep. nominee and the Cs have to hold their nose and vote for them.

When a lie is repeated often enough, some people accept it as the truth.

This is BS. I have NEVER had anyone choose my candidate for me. There's some reason why all the candidates bombard me with mailings, radio and TV ads, phone calls, etc. and it's not because it's a foregone conclusion that anyone will be automatically be winning an election. I used to think that way, too, but no longer does.

Again, I'm going to challenge all those who believe this to put a face on these bogeymen who are in control of our elections.

With God, Obama can’t hurt us.

Without God, George Washington couldn’t save us.

Nice! I realized in the ashes of ‘08 that I had been mindlessly joining into a mass idolatry. “Country First”. No, country is high on the list, but it is not first. No wonder we lost. Indeed, got off lightly.

If the RP can nominate Mitt Romney, then they are not a God-fearing, conservative party.,/I>

If this is true, then the problem is from the bottom up, not the top down.

A political party is made up of the sum total of those participating in it.

I will NOT vote for Mitt in the primary. I don’t get to vote until the end of Feb. (Michigan) I suspect the field will be thinned out some by then. If Bachmann is still in, she will get my vote.

“It would be a sane move for the conservatives to unite in a 3rd party.”

I foresee that in 2013. I knew people would have to see the GOP’s subversion and suppression of conservative gains and passion generated by the tea party in 2010. Some still pretend we are displacing the GOP’s nomenklatura. Where?

Eventually there will be no more room for self delusion. The recent National Defense Authorization Act should be sufficient proof, but there is a lot of willful denial about the GOP’s complicity in the decline of American liberty and prosperity since 1945. The two parties work in tandem. That is a fact.

All of you RECTUM 3rd Party PUKES “gave us(IE stuck us with)” Woodrow Wilson, Bill Clinton AND These BASTARDS just MAY stick us w/ 4 more years of this Halfrican Bastard!

I wouldn't hesitate to vote 3rd Party...And it's you and your bunch who went down with the Sr. Bush ship...

With the numbers Perot was getting, you voted for Bush anyway, knowing Clinton would win if you continued to support Bush...

If a pro America, conservative candidate shows up in a 3rd Party this time, you would do well to consider the person...Or go down with the Bush regime again...

I disagree with you, on who they should have been running ads against, cggm.

The CP is a conservative party. They would attract CONSERVATIVE voters. The strategy was to gather the conservative voters since in the US: 40% conservative; 20% liberal, and 40% moderate.

If they got all the conservatives, they would have had a chance to win. They would leave the liberals to Kerry and the moderates would have mostly gone to Bush with some going to Kerry.

Since Kerry didn’t have ANY conservatives supporting him, then they had to go after Bush to get conservatives.

It makes perfect sense, if you think about it.

“Better to write-in something like Sarah Palin, although in some states they don’t count write-ins of non-application write-in candidates.”

I understand the temptation to do this, truly I do. But I would never do that -to- her. SHE would be blamed for it, and the dead souls that actually run the GOP (and always will) will take it out of her hide. Trump, ‘John Galt’, or fill-in-the-blank-also-ran-3rd-party-empty-suit would be better as a protest vote. She has paid her dues and more, and doesn’t deserve the grief this would pull down on her from GOP barons and toadies. IMHO

I'm one of those who will bolt if Romney is the nominee.

The question is how many others will do likewise.

I'm not sure a third party even matters in this regard -- if there isn't somebody else to vote for, people who don't like either major candidate will simply decline to vote at all.

I think that’s definitely a possibility.

In my case, though, I’d like my vote with either a 3rd party or an alternative candidate so that the protest would be lodged for record.

Then there were the infamous hanging chads of Florida. Since then any number of political hacks have challenged ballots and have even tried to determine what a voter “meant” by a blank vote.

I’m sure they’ll eventually say that a digital voter who voted for 1, 2, and 3, really meant to vote for 4 but made a mistake and left it blank.

After the pregnant chad debacle, it’s just safer, in my mind, to go ahead and do a write-in or a 3rd party.
