Dems call on Rep. West to apologize for Joseph Goebbels comparison

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) landed in hot water on Friday for his remarks the previous day comparing the Democrats’ proficiency in getting out their message to the notorious head of the Nazi Party’s propaganda department under Hitler.

“If Joseph Goebbels was around, he’d be very proud of the Democrat Party, because they have an incredible propaganda machine,” West said Thursday.

Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) sent West a note expressing his disappointment in the remark. “I beg of you to help raise the level of congressional discourse in vigorous debate without resort to personal attacks,” Conyers wrote in a handwritten note first obtained by Politico.

West’s remarks came even as Democrats and Republicans scrambled to reach a bipartisan agreement on a spending bill necessary to continue funding the government into the new year.

He should tell Conyers to just shut up and get his shine box.

I see no reason for him to apologize. The liberal Democrats hate the truth. And they just hate.

And where in that is a personal attack? No one singled out, just the party in general and their propaganda machine.

“I beg of you to help raise the level of congressional discourse in vigorous debate without resort to personal attacks.”

—Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), to Rep. Allen West

“Furthermore I don’t want you to mention that my wife, Monica, has gone to prison for 37 months for corruption.” Goebbels and Goehring could have learned a bunch from this corrupt bastard!

You know you’re scoring points when the Democrats start complaining that you’re being too harsh on them.

While Hitler, Goebbels made use of the phrase (paraphrase), it is unfairly overlooked that the original quote on the subject has been attributed to Vladimir Lenin, making the comparison to the Democratic Party more apropos.

A lie told often enough becomes the truth.

Well, I like West a lot, but I think this was not his finest hour.

I am sick and tired of all and sundry being compared to the Nazis - it serves to reduce the horror of that regime. I didn't like when Bush was called a Nazi and I don't think it helps the political discourse to raise such a comparison. The Dems are hypocritical, lying, deceiving, disingenuous, Machiavellian megalomaniacs - but they still don't reach the level of Goebbels. Not only was Goebbels the propaganda minister, he was one of the main overseers of the "Final Solution". The day after Hitler's suicide he and his wife killed their six children before themselves committing suicide.

I do agree, however, with the observation that there is a double-standard: Bush being called a Nazi was uncritically embraced by the MSM; West is publicly denounced.

But, as we are on the verge of losing the last living witnesses of the Holocaust, I am sick and tired of it being invoked for every political disagreement. The Dems are worms and behaving despicably, but even they have a long way to go the reach the depravity of the Third Reich.

After both parties collaborated on the passage of the NDAA, it would seem that they are all Sturmabteilung now.

Communists and Nazis only difference is in the uniforms they wear...trying to explain the difference between the two is like trying to explain the difference between the Bloods and the Crips.

Dear Congressman West:

I beg of you to help raise the level of congressional discourse in vigorous debate without comparing the Nazi Party to the Democrat Party. We reject that outright as slanderous... to Nazis.

The Fascists and the Nazis were both left-wing, big-government, totalitarian ideologies.

Mussolini learned his politic methodology as a member of the Communist Party. And Hitler was a conservative? I think not. Hitler and Stalin shook hands and divided Poland between them, but then fell out because they were competing for the same job—ruler of the world.

I think we need to keep pressing that obvious point.

Just as we need to press the point that the Democrats were—and still are—the party of slavery and Jim Crow, while it was the Republicans who freed the slaves and led the civil rights movement, until the Dems moved in and subverted it.

We cannot afford to let Communist liars constantly re-write history.

Remember that one of the men that Joseph Goebbels most admired was Edward Bernays, who served as the head of the new propaganda department under Woodrow Wilson. The Nazis were amazed at how Bernays and Wilson were able to manipulate people in the United States. Despite what people have been taught by the Progressive educators (propaganda???), the United States was first and foremost in the propaganda arena and Goebbels and the Nazis were a distant second.

In a side note, Bernays was the father of the “modern” art of advertising which translates to “propaganda for money”..

I should also point out that when Goebbels office was searched, books written by Edward Bernays. It wasn’t that Goebbels would have approved, but more that Goebbels regarded Bernays as his hero.

You're absolutely right. Political thinkers, historians have a very hard time defining Communism, Nazism, as to where exactly on the right/left ideological map they belong. I've read interpretations of Nazism as being far left, other difficult-to-understand political analyses, etc.

But simply as a matter of historical perspective, conventional point-of-view, attributing the quote to Lenin makes Communists as progenitor for Democratic left wing ideology all the more metaphorically symmetrical.

Hopefully he refuses to engage in their silly games of semantics. Some of these hacks have a blood lust that would put Geobells to shame.
