Michele Bachmann accused Newt Gingrich of trying to buy off the state’s Tea Party leaders by bringing them on as staffers, more than a dozen of the movement’s leaders are fighting back.
In a strongly worded letter issued Friday afternoon, 13 leaders of the SC Tea Party movement accused her of “attacking the tea party movement by accusing tea party supporters of Newt Gingrich of being bought off” and said she has escalated the battle by making it national news by discussing it with John King on CNN Wednesday night.
“Now that Michele Bachmann herself has decided to throw fuel on the fire, and this issue has become national news, we as leaders within the South Carolina tea party movement feel we must speak out to defend our integrity,” reads the letter, which was circulated on Twitter and on at least one Tea Party website.
They accuse Bachmann of trying to divide the Tea Party movement, and defended Gingrich, who has said time and again that the only real opponent is President Barack Obama

I tell you one thing, the mittbots are on slavishly thick tonight, so we’re definitely witnessing one of many flashpoints of Romney spending in terms of opinion-shaping on the interwebs AND on the ground.
She is NOT attacking the Tea party. She is a key Tea party person. Gingrich is a “progressive.” He has no relation to Tea Party people.
Something is going on. Our little local group was approached a few weeks back. Gingrich wasn’t mentioned but he made it clear that the party needed to get rid of extremists like Bachmann.
If Newt is the leader of any Tea Party group, that group has either been co-opted by the GOP or is not a real Tea Party group. to be a real Tea Party member, you have to be anti-Establishment. Otherwise, you are merely a stooge of the GOP.

Yes she certainly has turned out to be one. I have overlooked some of it in the past but this time she may have jumped the shark. I think she went to far this time.
This would suggest that she was correct !

So how do you get the job of being a tea party leader? Are you elected, turn in a job application or maybe setup a web site?
The only man she doesn’t blast is Romney. Why? She’s angling for the VP slot.
One things for sure. Can’t tell how all this stuff is playing out. We are essentially flying blind. Latest polls are getting stale and don’t reflect the impact last week’s events.
Yes, that would appear to be the goal, keep Conservatives divided so that he can slither in, like McCain did.
I did hear Michele make the statement about Newt buying off the Tea Party.
I must admit, I was really confused. Why in the world would she cast doubt on the integrity of the very people who support her just to try and Newt look bad?

Why would Haley bolt out of the barn and endorse Mittens when the time for endorsing is months and months away?
If she thinks that, either she is delusional, or Mitt is dumber than he looks. Romney’s best claim is that, despite the lack of enthusiasm for him on the part of conservatives, he could win over many independents. Bachmann would drive them away—and at the rate she is going, will have antagonized all the people who initially supported any of the other conservative candidates.
It could have been Newt...or since she has gone after every other candidate with full force..it could have been any of the others...except Romney. Come to think of it..it could even be Romney. He might feel she has outlived her usefulness to him.
Gosh even the Tea Party wants a RINO......so sad. Poor other candidates are getting beat up by a girl......PATHETIC. Complaining about it is REALLY pathetic.
You appoint yourself and support the Establishment RINOs.
She has blasted Romney quite a few times but that gets overlooked. Oh well. This primary is not going to be decided on this site. It is going to be decided by the conservatives in the trenches and I believe that Bachmann will do pretty well thoughout the entire run.

I Recall how she was a vocal anti Obamacare activist yet she has yet to attack the father of Obamacare named Mittens !

I don’t know about anybody else but I am voting for either Bachmann or Sanotrum and many people I talk to are doing the same so I would not count her specifically out yet.

Newt and Perry are allies - Newt wrote the forward to Perry’s Fed Up - and will work together.
Mittens has no hope of carving up the Sarah/Newt/Perry bloc, but he sure the hell is trying. I’ve had blatant Mitt supporters challenge me in the last two hours; I’ve thought about reporting them but I’m not that upset, YET.

I found her endorsement to be very curious.
Not being from her state, I wonder if she is governing as promised.
Truthfully, I think we will see a lot of Romney endorsements that will surprise and disappoint.

There is a school of thought that Mitt’s $pends are not going
to net him anything, and by tossing him an endorsement that will be invalid once he drops out shows 11th Commandment adherence.
But she should have been FORCED to support mitts at THE VERY LAST DATE rather than offer it up yesterday. So ?????

That being said, Michele has gone on immediate attack to any one who gained any traction. Oh, she’s tapped Myth a couple of times, but not hard..not like she has the others.

If you accept, as most do, that it’s a four person race now, she’s doing what she has to do and running against the four.
This is how primaries work. Candidates run against each other, if you think she’s taken it too far, then don’t vote for her, but don’t blame her for playing the game.

I first mentioned a week or so back that someone had showed up at our little tea party breakfast He claimed to be an Allegan county GOP chair and member of the tea party patriots.
The tea party patriots in Allegan said he didn’t belong to them and that he isn’t the GOP chair for their county.
He started out OK talking taxes and regulation but then complained that the party had redistricted a good conservative out of our district. (Super RINO Joe ‘abort em all’ Schwarz) He said we should consider more structure for our meetings and was trying to get contact numbers from us.
I’ve spoken of this in the forum a few times over that last few days but I’m fixin to go to bed. If anybody wants to dig around in my posting history to find it, it will be there.
Interesting, Newt bought his face book following, now key teaparty people... Money guy.
Looked at the voting record spreadsheet, Bachman is the best for conservatives.
I think the Paulweeds, Bachmannites and Romnisphere have joined forces.
They support nobody but attack everybody relentlessly.

I warned about this over a week ago. If either Newt or Romney hijack the Tea Party, the Tea Party is OVER.
