Maybe sheep and cattle will support James but everyone else knows a shyster cheat when they see one. James was instrumental for getting SMU the NCAA Death Penalty and his puerile antics for getting Leach fired. Republicans don’t need someone like this representing them, especially in Texas.
It’s a big accomplishment to kill TWO football programs.
Craig James? *SPIT*
I never would have known he was a Republican without him saying it. I guess that torpedoes any future for him in the media.
Won’t be getting my vote.
One of the least likeable talking heads on ESPN so it will make college Saturdays more enjoyable, now if Lou Holtz would just leave for office also...........
Given the importance of football in Texas, from high school on up through college and the two pro teams, James must have an ego as big as the Texas Cowboy Stadium to think that voters will ignore that record when the ads start to appear. In fact, given the information in the linked article, I suspect many voters have already made up their minds who NOT to support.
James is an ESPN media elite jerk who hired his own personal public relations firm to help destroy Mike Leach at Texas Tech because James felt that Leach was too mean to James’ son on the TT football team. Has the perfect temperament and world view to be a self serving politician. Will not get my vote.
James has had a close relationship with Dallas real estate developer Sherwood Blount, one of the key boosters involved in the past pay-for-play scandal at SMU. Blount, who reportedly insisted SMU had a "payroll to meet" even after the school promised the payments would stop, was James' agent when he played in the NFL.
In his book "Gameday," James wrote: "I'm not going to sit here and tell you I never received a nickel during my playing days. But I can say with certainty that no benefits were ever extended to me from anyone associated with the SMU administration."
And I have a pony express bridge to sell. I hope Ted Cruz kicks his ass.
Holtz can take Desmond “He dropped it” Howard with him.
