North Korea: Portrait of New Leader Takes Shape (More merciless and unpredictable than his father?)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/19/2011 | By ADAM ENTOUS and SIOBHAN GORMAN in Washington and JAEYEON WOO in Seoul

North Korea's new leader is depicted in U.S. intelligence assessments as a volatile youth with a sadistic streak who may be even more unpredictable than his late father, according to U.S. officials.

U.S. intelligence officials say they have limited information about Kim Jong Eun, the youngest son of Kim Jong Il and his anointed successor. The U.S. has had few direct contacts on which to make a "conclusive assessment" of Kim Jong Eun's nature and character, a senior U.S. official said.

Some analysts say Kim Jong Eun's youth, inexperience and lack of public exposure raise questions about whether he can, or even will, run the country.

Kim Jong Il's sister, Kim Kyong Hui, and her husband, Jang Song Thaek, a close aide to Kim Jong Il, could act as regents for Kim Jong Eun to help him gain enough power within the Workers' Party as well as the military to run the regime, some analysts say.

The portrait of Kim Jong Eun that emerges in his U.S. profile is that of a young man who, despite years of education in the West, is steeped in his father's cult of personality and may be even more mercurial and merciless, officials said.

A senior U.S. official said intelligence analysts believe, for instance, that Kim Jung Eun "tortured small animals" when he was a youth. "He has a violent streak and that's worrisome," a senior U.S. official said, summing up the U.S. assessments.

What did they expect him to be?

A normal, freedom-loving guy?

RE: We have nothing to envy...

Remember Saddam Hussein? He was already a sadistic madman, but many Iraqis say that his two sons Uday and Qusay ( thankfully both dead ) were WORST.

These young kids of tyrants want to make sure they gain people’s fear and respect when they take over their father’s position and boy — do they make sure the “fear” factor comes first.

That figures. He's only been around for twenty-something years. What the hell are we paying these people for. Mastercard and Google would know everything about this pig, including what kind of porn he's partial to.

It says something, but I'm not sure what. This is an unsubstantiated report by -quote- A senior U.S. official (who) said intelligence analysts believe -unquote-. That's two layers of smoke and mirrors to an unnamed source. WTF?

Look, I loathe Kim Jong Il, un, and the rest of those freaky cowboys to the depth of my soul, but it just gripes my sense of professionalism that charges can be leveled -- and taken at face value -- on something this revolting.

OK, maybe it's even believable because its so often true -- but I get nervous anyhow.

I know we have some good intelligence, but i’m wondering how they found out he tortured small animals as a kid. I’m not doubting anything that comes out of that clan of psychos, but it sounds pretty specific to me.

That aside, this overfed goofball should be fun to watch in the next couple of months. He’s only 28, and someone just handed him an army. Its going to be interesting to see what he does with it.

He attended a private school in Switzerland during the 90s under an assumed name and the information is probably from someone at the school. Kim Jong Il was suspected of drowning his brother when he was 5...guess it runs in the family.

Just looking at him is scary. This flabby little vertically challenged testosterone deprived castrato is bound to do something to try to prove that he is capable of urinating while erect.
