Vote 2012: Ron Paul Takes Lead in KCRG/Gazette/ISU Poll (Paul-28, Newt-25, Mitt-18, Perry - 11)

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Just two weeks before Iowa’s first-in-the-nation precinct caucuses there’s a new leader, but the race remains “remarkably fluid,” according to a new Iowa State University/Gazette/KCRG poll likely Republican caucus-goers.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul has moved into first place – the fifth candidate to hold that spot since the mid-August Iowa GOP Straw Poll. The data collected between Dec. 8 and 18 suggest that unlike the previous frontrunners, Paul’s support is more solid.

Paul is the first choice of 27.5 percent of 333 likely caucus-goers among the 740 registered Republicans and 200 registered independents contacted by ISU. That’s up from 20.4 percent in an ISU/Gazette/KCRG poll in November. He’s followed closely by former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich whose support increased from 4.8 percent to 25.3 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in at 17.5 percent, up from 16.3.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is the only other candidate to poll in double digits at 11.2 percent – an increase from 7.9 percent a month earlier.

Ron Paul insists that America and the American people are to be blamed for the attack on the twin towers. He thinks those folks that were killed on those plans on 911, those that were burned alive, and those that jumped from more than 100 floors above the ground were all guilty and deserved to die those horrible deaths becasue they and their country had offended the Taliban and the Muslems in some way.

He says they, the Muslems, were justified in their actions and that we had NO RIGHT to respond because no war was declared. Does he NOT understand that innocent, unarmed Americans were attacked and murdered on American soil. If that isn’t an act of war that deserves a response what is?

This man is a coward

Never again! Rather take the medicine quickly than insidiously. If its Mitt or Newt... well I’d just better stay home on election day. Otherwise I might be tempted to get it all over with quickly by voting O.

The main criticism of Ron Paul is that Ron Paul’s foreign policy is the same foreign policy as that of our Founding Fathers Washington, Jefferson, Addams, Madison, etc. So be it.

Really?

In my earlier (and in fact all my Posts re: Paul) I ask who are the MORONS who are supporting this nut case.

I won't go so far as to suggest a fellow Freeper is demented, BUT, you certainly don't know JACK about our History!!!

I could take up 20 or more par outlining how the FF you referred to were in NO way even remotely as Isolationists and RETARTED as Paul (in fact they were ALL "Patriots") is, NEVER mind that little "THINGY" about blaming US for 9/11?

I'll simply direct you to the founding of our United States Marines and just in case (which I doubt you do) you don't know where the origins of the Marine Corps Hymm comes from, here's a hint: "From the Halls of Montezuma...TO THE SHORES OF TRIPPOLI...."

Look that one up and you will see how PRESIDENT JEFFERSON dealt with the BARBARIC, ISLAMIC, RAG HEADS (SEE TRIPOLIAN/BARBARY WAR) who were attacking and pilaging our ships and capturing our sailors and either holding them for ransom or making them slaves.

Small wonder people like you support Paul; y'all don't know sheet from shinola!!!

Well, I guess we can be sure that IA people will again make the wrong choice. They have a lot of experience doing that.

You must be registered to vote but any registered voter can come into the Republican caucus and change their registration to Republican to vote.

Remember the Democrats will be holding their caucus at the same time but we know theirs' won't be of much consequence.

If someday you ever read the farewell addresses of George Washington and of Dwight Eisenhower, then you say the exact same thing of Washington and Ike.

They thought 9/11 was an inside job?

I believe I’m simply looking a the obvious truth that our way of life is in grave danger and the biggest threat is our own government. We need a constitutional candidate.

I’ll say it again... we need a candidate who supports the constitution. Without that everything is lost.

God can and will take care of Israel. We need to turn our focus inward. A sick man cannot take care of others.

Continuing with our current trajectory is the craziest option of all. That’s what I’m “Peddling” on this website.

If Paul gets the nomination, I'll be writing in Sarah Palin next November (and before your ask, NO I don't care that it might result in an Obama victory).

First of all, I don't think that Paul will get the nomination - but I thought about your post - what would I do if Ron Paul and Barack Obama are my choices?

Yes, Paul's foreign policy is scary, but I think Congress might be able to have some influence - and even if not - he would STILL be far and away better than Obama, especially with the money stuff. I think I would vote for Ron Paul in that circumstance. I would vote for my dog in that same scenario as well.

This brings to mind a little exercise I do when I am extremely worried or anxious about something; if I'm afraid of something happening, I imagine that event taking place. Then I think about what would be the consequences of it - what if I have no money? lose my job? my spouse dies?

Once I've walked through that scenario in my mind, and reason through the problem - it doesn't scare me so much anymore. I know that life will go on & I'll just have to deal with it the best way possible. Survival mode kicks in.

I'd vote for Ron Paul over Barack Obama (or staying home, which is like a vote for Obama).

To all anti Paul people: Your’e arguments will be recieved better if you can drop the name calling. It’s long past the hour will that will work. Too much at stake. Try harder to add something concrete to the conversation. Just saying “nut job” or “crazy” is more fitting for a DU type conversation.

Exactly, which means that they have nothing to lose by switching registrations to wreak havoc with the GOP nomination process.

Good. A real battle is very healthy. Although I don’t want the conservative vote split too much so Romney can squeeze through with a victory, which has been the plan all along.

How many polled for Paul are actually Democrats who want Paul to face Obama and give the Democrats a sweep next November?? It is an open primary - which I hate.

I am not a big fan of Pauls, but no constitutionalist minded candidate has a chance of winning the GOP nomination. The GOP elite still has people convinced we can grow our way out of debt, and that a few conservative style reforms will get the country up and going. The GOP and the majority of the voters are not yet ready to make the hard decisions necessary to save the nation. Paul's ideas on limiting government, doing away with agencies and programs, and withdrawing the U.S. military from its occupation of much of the world will become a reality because debt and circumstances will demand it.

Who are trying to fool here?
Ronny is a 32 year DC insider and the Pork King of congress !
The guy was one if four GOP reps to voted against the earmark ban and the Pork king demanded 134,000,000 in earmarks .
So the small gov’t line is a lie.
I want to know if you are a 9-11 truther and a blame America for 9-11 like socko Ronny ?
None of you Paul bots will answer those questions ?
