CNSNews.com) – Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, says he has no plans to reverse the Obama administration’s repeal of the ban on homosexuals serving in the U.S. military

In an editorial meeting in early November with the Des Moines Register, which endorsed him for the Iowa caucuses pending on Jan. 3, Romney was asked, “How do you feel about gays serving openly in the military?”

Romney said, “That’s already occurred. I’m not planning on reversing that at this stage.”

The reporter followed up, “But you’re comfortable with it?”

So please tell me again, what ARE the differences between Obama and Romney? I can’t seem to find any.

Bush II wouldn’t have changed it either had Congress pushed it.

A President Romney would be a Bush III and any Bush is a watered-down Obama.

Lol. I’m baffled that so many Republicans have fallen for this dude. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this. The stuff he says and the fact that he’s somehow a leading Republican nominee right now…? It’s getting twilight-zonish.

Romney’s going to have homosexuals? Well, that time in France wasn’t wasted after all.

I said at hotair: “By the way, this election has to be about something bigger than the economy. If we make it about the economy, we likely lose. It has to be about, regardless of the current economy: ‘govt is too big, faith / freedom is under attack.’”

Gays in the Military... that also is a step too far by the ultra-libs, imho.

Despite strong opposition from congressional Republicans, the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act of 2010” passed in the then-Democrat controlled House (and Senate) and was signed into law by President Obama on Dec. 22, 2010.

That disgraceful vote was taken one year ago today. If there really would have been "strong opposition from congressional Republicans", those in the Senate could have filibustered it. Even if that had failed (which I doubt it would have because congress was anxious to get home for vacation), then the solid GOP majority in the house taking office just a couple of weeks later could have immediately voted to cut off funds for its implementation.

You are 100% correct. Romney's statement here reflects nothing more and nothing less than the view of the GOP establishment. He is the legitimate successor to Bush I, Bush II and McCain. If we want an alternative, we have to support an alternative, not a different flavor of the same.

If he thinks he is wearing Republican clothing, he paid too much for it.

And they wonder why we call them RINOs...

This explains why I think Mitt would beat Obama. He would be perceived by dems and the squishy independants as better on the economy that Obama, and "just as nice" as Obama. The losers would be us conservatives, stuck with Obama lite.

Might as well face it, the policy will never be changed by ANY future president, no matter what. The political fallout would be just too much to weather. A Republican Congress COULD change it, but would face strong opposition that would be politically unpalatable, so that’s not likely, either. ....

I agree with you.

It’s also worth pointing that Romney wouldn’t even be that good for the economy—he’s already championed OWS platitudes about “no tax cuts for the rich cuz they make too $$$ anyway” and his proposed spending reductions are a drop in the bucket.

I’m just trying to figure what the hell people are seeing in this guy that makes them think he’d be such a wonderful president. It’s quite baffling.

EEO was a great democrat scam. Every woman who left home and went to work became the source of bigger government.

The increase in the tax base expanded government at the expense of gullible women who thought they were making a difference
