Not good. Who is in charge of ‘disqualifying’ signatures. A 10% buffer seems enough to take into account some bad ones.

Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum did not submit signatures, according to state GOP officials

What is up with that? Is it just that their campaigns don't have the cash for paid signature gatherers?

Ouch. That smarts.

Hick-ups generally hit every campaign. It’s surprising, but it’s not a game changer.

Larry Sabato expects the state GOP will turn a “blind eye” to any signature problems on Perry’s or Gingrich’s petitions. - HotAir
That's what I was expecting too... Guess Larry and I were wrong.

Somebody who wants to become President ought to have no problem completing this requirement.

I guess you missed in the article that Bachmann and Santorum didn't submit signatures at all so they aren't on the ballot there either. This whole primary is a cluster.

Perry’s campaign told state election officials it had submitted 11,911 signatures, but a Virginia Republican familiar with the situation said that the Texas governor did not submit the required 10,000.

David Axelrod stole them. Photobucket>
