The closer the first votes of the 2012 presidential campaign get, the more competitive longtime congressman Ron Paul appears to become.

It's a moment his famously fervent supporters have longed for. Plenty of others are asking: What's Ron Paul about, again?

Yes, SmithL, as a rock group once sang, “There’s A Moonbat Out Tonight”. Wasn’t a big hit, and I hope that Ron Paul isn’t either.

The danger with Paul is that he is not only anti-Israel, our one reliable friend in the Middle East (Obama got rid of Egypt and is trying to get rid of Israel, so they have something in common), it is that he is so much of an isolationist the he would allow our enemies to encircle us with hostile nations and bases to the point that we would not be able to carry on waterborne trade, nor even to keep enough of the sealanes opens to survive as a country.

If you look at the re-rise of marxist regimes in Latin America, after their having suffered serious defeats in the 1980’s and early 1990’s (Nicaragua, El Salvador, Peru, Chile, Argentina), now aided by Ecuardor, an emasculated Costa Rica, Mexico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, etc. then you will understand what I mean, and that applies just to our hemisphere.

The rest of the world is in even worse shape thanks to Obama’s cowardice and stupidity. All Ron Paul wants to do is to leave the field to our enemies who are growing bolder every day (Iran, Syria - no Spring there, boychek, Russia, Red China, North Korea, the Moslem Brotherhood and Al Qaeda all over Africa, and Red Chinese infiltration from Venezuela to Madagascar/Seychelles, and the US).

We need a leader who firstly, recognizes that there are these challenges, secondly knows who the enemy is, and thirdly, does something decisive about them.

Ron Paul is one of the “No-Nothing” offspring of American history, and would lead America down the road to destruction, with Obama cheering him on.

I’m savvy enough to know that conservative politicians cannot vote conservative all the time. There are times when am earmark will do more good, in the long run, than for it not to be done.

I’m sure that some of Ron Paul’s earmarks actually went to good causes. But you cannot be, consistently, one of the Kings of Earmarks for a long time and still claim to be against them.

Some information on Ron Paul and Israel

Any time I have been able to track down the entire newletter or quote referenced in a Ron Paul smear, I have discovered a dissembling partial truth.

Like him or not Paul, brings to the campaign serious questions that warrant discussion, questions about big government, how US taxpayer money is spent, foreign policy, the role of the Fed...

While my research thus far leads me to believe that Ron Paul is naive regarding the most basic motivation of Jihadis, consider the following:

GW kept reminding us that 'Islam is a religion of 'peace'. Never mentioned that Islam is a total political system and peace is achieved when there is a world wide caliphate under Sharia.

Ultimately Paul's foreign policy would be better for both Israel and Christianity.

While Israel would get no foreign aid, neither would its enemies:

I posed a question on a different board yesterday, wondering what so many youth saw in Ron Paul, considering he’s quite strongly pro-life and not for any form of racial or social preferences. The answer I received from a liberal friend was they stopped at the “legalization of all drugs” part.

You might consider that the youth can get drugs now w/o legalization, like booze in prohibition. But youth also has concern over no jobs with big student debt, fighting and paying for wars of older generations, the future of social security and the prospect of being left a country where they won’t do as well as their parents. It just could be they are pissed.

Perhaps if those same youth would apply themselves, only major in subjects that actually do have job potential (instead of ‘ethnic studies’, ‘gender studies,’ or ‘pop culture influence on society’) and started with community colleges or trade schools they’d have a better chance? Our daughter just graduated with a degree in structural engineering and had the job of her dreams in 2 weeks. We paid more for her parochial school education than for her college tuition (though far less than what the State and Barack’s grandma paid at Punahou).

Our son opted for a more difficult option, piano performance, but still is making more than the average college grad teaching lessons, doing accompaniment gigs, and the occasional church assignment while he waits for his applications for grad school to process.
