Obama: Is it too soon to judge his presidency?

And yet, here we are at the end of 2011, with Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and discussion boards still teeming with intemperate quick takes. President Obama has taken considerable heat this year, but isn't it too soon to accuse him of being an ineffectual leader? Isn't that one lesson from the Tucson incident?

On a Christmas Day episode of "GPS" on CNN, Fareed Zakaria interviewed Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough, who reminded us that it's too early to cast Obama's legacy in stone. Here's an excerpt from their interview:

I admire him very much, and I think that his -- his time in office presented him with problems such as very few presidents have ever had to address. And given the complexity and the gravity of those problems, I think he's handled himself very well. My -- my hat goes off to him, my heart goes out to him. […]

All of our -- all of our best presidents, without exception, have had a sense of history, and I don't think that's coincidental. And one of the things that a sense of history gives to a person is not just an appreciation, an understanding of what happened before we came along, but the realization that we, too, are a part of history and we, too, are going to be judged by history. […]

And that's extremely important. Today's polls, today's -- tomorrow's headlines, are not going to matter.

Zakaria agreed: "[W]e cannot really tell the quality of a leader judged from the noise of the present. We need time and perspective."

Obama doesn’t have the traditional sense of history, he has an unshakable sense of his own greatness. Given that he’s utterly without accomplishment in his life with the exception of his attaining the presidency this makes him an ass...(and we his fools)...

At 25, Alexandra Le Tellier is a veteran of LA’s nightclub scene. As Editor and Producer of the Nightclub beat on LA.com, she knows the ins and outs as well as the insiders and outsiders of LA’s booze and boogie havens. From dive bars to invitation-only; from Goth to Geisha, La La Land’s reigning nightclub goddess gives us the straight dope.

From the NYC flyby to the Harvard intervention to Chevy Volt to the SEIU, Obama presented more than enough evidence of ineptitude to be judged ..in his first freaking six months..

They judged him worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize about an hour and a half after took office so three years in makes it easy to judge his presidency an abject failure easily positioning him way to the rear of Jimmy Carter as, not only the worst president but very possibly the worst person ever to hold national office.

Now, now, we at FR must be accurate...it was a full 12 days after he took office that he was nominated! (That is actually a fact AFAIK...may have been 11 days)

Mrs. Lincoln, is it too soon to judge the play?

Captain Smith, is it too soon to judge the Titanic’s maiden voyage?

General Pickett, is it too soon to judge your charge against General Meade’s forces?

Spelling correction. Zacharia -> Zakaria.

And while we're at it, Obama is President Downgrade. The first downgrade from AAA bond status for the United States occurred on his watch. He has also engaged in war in Libya without consultation of Congress, a breach of the Constitution and the War Powers Act. His record is so poor that Hugo Chavez of Venezuela found it necessary to advise him to get to work on fixing America's problems. Chavez must realize that if the USA economy is wrecked, it will cause harm to his own country and many others.

A 25 year old bar fly?

Why does the LAT think anyone would give a damn what she her opinion is?

Or perhaps “lounge lizard” would be the correct appellation.

It's that all-important youth vote. BO's campaign mgrs. fear that the "youth" who helped him into office in '08 will be staying home this time around.

No, it’s not too late - the first thing he did was to eliminate all Christian symbols from his world, eliminate the National Day of Prayer and replace it with post Ramadon breakfast for the muslim world, bow to all islamic leaders, insult British leaders/people, insult - to the extreme - the Jewish leader and world.

I think it’s high time we recognize that HE is an insult.

Well, he DID argue for the continuance of the “Bush Tax Cuts” last winter. That’s 1% approval of his administration for me. Credit where credit is due.

I’m the 99%.

No, not too soon! All I can remember is his standing, calling for all Democrats to vote for that awlful health insurance bill that the majority did not want. It has been 2 years since that bill passed, but, because of how it was programmed, most will not feel the effects until after the election to come.

The Democrats made it that way so as to get re-elected. They figure most will forget how they ram-rodded it down our throats by 2012. Then, when the tax increases come after the election, they figure most will forget by 2016. What they are not counting on is the memory of people like me, who will remember the unanimous vote for that horrible bill. Who will remember Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid working with Obama to cram that down our gullets. We remember and will not forget for a simple election. The news is pushing Obama, just like they were in 2010. They have a bigger surprise coming this time.

We need time and perspective

He is right in some regards. For instance: there was a time that I thought Jimmy Carter was the worst President that could ever be. I am finding, that belief, tempered with time and perspective may have been wrong.

There’s no end to the lies and their deliberate stupidity. He’s cut America’s throat, we’re lying there bleeding to death, and they’re saying he did us a favor. And it’s Bush’s fault, anyway. They’re insane.

If this is a double post, I apologize. (It’s hard to see when you’re foaming at the mouth.) My point was that Fox this morning couldn’t find enough excuses for an idiot president who does nothing but golf and vacation while the country suffers. And if you complain, like Romney, you’re mean. They did mention Christie’s comments, but characterized that as ‘street talk’. Hello? When does plain speaking and telling the truth add up to vulgar behavior? I think they’re all afraid of being called racists for calling a fool a fool. They ought to call him a muslim as well.
