InsiderAdvantage's latest poll numbers, completed Sunday night, find the following shape-up of the Iowa Caucus race:
Romney 23% Paul 22% Santorum 18% Gingrich 16% Perry 10% Bachmann 6% Huntsman 2% Other 1% Undecided 2%...
Towery says the surprise of the poll is how well Gingrich is doing despite "seeing blood everywhere" after the massive pummeling he's taken in local and national TV ads, largely funded by pro-Romney supporters, attacking the former Speaker's record.
InsiderAdvantage finds Gingrich at 16% -- up from the De Moines Register poll of 13%. Towery notes that if Gingrich finishes in fourth place, he'd hold the same position John McCain had in the 2008 Iowa Caucus result.
Towery predicts that Ron Paul will quickly fade after Iowa, leaving the anti-Romney race between Santorum and Gingrich.

The Santorum surge is certainly exciting for his camp, and I think Santorum would make a good President. But I still think Gingrich will win Iowa in a squeaker.
If he does, I have no doubt he will be the nominee. If he comes in below 3rd place, he may have to rely on South Carolina to keep him in the running.
I hope Iowa succeeds in narrowing the feeled. It would be great if Bachmann and the heartless Rick Perry dropped out after Iowa.
field not feeled.....ugh that was bad.
Just hope no one flyspecks my grammatical & spelling mistakes. :)
I think you’re right that if the field doesn’t winnow fairly soon to one conservative/anti-Romney candidate, we’re likely stuck with Mittons as our candidate.
I think all the anti-Romneys are staying in because they would at least like to be Romney’s running mate.
Bachmann will be gone, but Perry will stay in at least through Florida.
I could vote for either of the Ricks if they win the nomination. I don’t think either could beat Obama. That is why I am in the boat with Newt. I can not support either Romney or Paul. Those who think Romney is the most electable will get a shock when millions just choose to stay home. Many of us truely believe Mitt Romney will be worse than Obama
NOBODY and I mean NOBODY could be worse than Obama. Obama is to this Nation what the Anti Christ is to Humanity. I would vote for Mickey Mouse against Obama and if you or anyone sits on their hands and lets him get reelected than shame on you for selling America down the river.
“But I still think Gingrich will win Iowa in a squeaker.”
I don’t put much faith in the fickle Iowan folks, but 41% of them still haven’t made up their minds, so you could be right.
GO NEWT......
Santorum caved to Support Pro Abortion RINO Turned Democrat Arlen Specter over Conservative Toomey in the Rep. Primary of 2004. He was also a leading proponent of Earmarks. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
I don't know, I feeled pretty good about it.
Save your shame on you nonsense. Yes, someone could be worse than Obama. Romney is likely to nominate supremem court justices than are more liberal than even Obama. He also will not dismantle Obamacare. He will also cause long term damage to the conservative brand. He will not stop the spending, and he will govern left center like he did in Mass. He could be a lot worse. Save the shame for someone who will buy into it. I have been around too long to care what anyone thinks of my actions. I will be true to my beliefs. thanks
If nothing else.....I would love to see Newt debate Obama....without a teleprompter. That would be the debate of the century.
I don’t think he’ll finish first, but a top three finish would be enough considering the low expectations and the sustained withering attacks he’s been under.
That would scare the living s___ out of Romney and probably bring some much needed cash to Newt’s coffers, and set him up nicely for South Carolina.
As a side note, Michele Bachmann’s campaign is in it’s death throes.
Perry has enough cash to hang in regardless of how he does.
Santorum’s expectations are so high now that not finishing in the top three could be fatal to his campaign.
At first glance, that's how it looks. But after longer, cooler contemplation, I (and perhaps David, too) realize that the REAL "selling America down the river" would be to vote for:
-- Nationalized health care and mandates FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
-- Stout support of Roe v. Wade FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
-- Activist liberal judge appointments FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
-- Cap-and-trade global warming regulations FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
-- Liberalism and statism endorsed and nourished FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
-- The difference between Republican and Democrat destroyed to the point of being nonexistent FROM AND BY REPUBLICANS
Vote against Obama all you want, but remember that when you vote, you're also voting FOR something. UNDERSTAND that if you vote for Romney, you're voting FOR all of the above. That would be selling the Republican Party down the river, and America right along with it.
Obama another four years, we can fight, and the Republican party and limited government conservatism would grow STRONGER.
Romney in the White House would tie our hands behind our backs, liberalism and statism would grown more powerful IN BOTH PARTIES, and demoralized Americans would give up all hope.
THINK IT THROUGH.
I have the same feeling, can't believe they would hold onto someone like PAUL who is going nowhere after Iowa, why waste a vote for him?? Come on NEWT.
The ones that I will not vote for in the general are, Romney, Paul and Huntsman. Never, never, never!
It sure would and compared to the rest, I would love to see him as our president.
I completely agree with your assessment.
GO NEWT.......
Then you wasted your money, allowed yourself to be led by the Republican elite, MSM, Faux, the pollsters, and you joined the ranks of the fickle Iowans.
GO NEWT GO.....
While I hope Newt will win Iowa I do believe that he will do better in Iowa and New Hampshire than what is presently beinf predicted. I do believe that he will be the leader in delegates after South Carolina and will add to his delegate strength in Florida and by then some of the other “not Romney” candidates will drop out increasing his advantage for Super Tuesday.
I hope you are right! I worry for those who do not understand why a moderate to liberal republican is worse than Obama. We can fight Obama, fighting Romney, Paul or Huntsman would be difficult if not impossible. Go Newt.
Those of us conservatives who live in blue states won’t waste our time going to the polls for Romney. I wouldn’t vote for McCain, but like last time I will donate to the campaigns of strong house and senate races. Romney is a pansy and if you think he will fight obama you’re delusional. He and santorum can’t seem to articulate a strong unscripted argument during the debates. How do you think they will fair against Obama? I’ll tell you how they will become stuttering messes trying to retrieve their prepared rebuttals. Newt knows how to respond because he can attack every issue from multiple angles. However, my Midwestern father always said “nice guys finish last”. Newt better start fighting because he is the only one with any chance of turning this country around. I could care less about his baggage. I’m not looking for a pastor, I want a leader who will clean house and knock some sense into those leeches on capital hill.
