Parents Arrested for Allegedly Posting Photos of Bound Kids on Facebook

An Arizona couple has been arrested for allegedly posting photos of their two young children bound by duct tape and, in one photo, hanging one of the children upside down from exercise equipment.

Kayla Almunia, 19, and Frankie Almunia, 20, told police that the images were meant as a joke, but authorities aren’t laughing.

“I don’t know how anyone can rationalize or believe that this behavior is in any way funny or a joke,” Coconino County Sheriff’s Commander Rex Gilliland told ABCNews.com. “Law enforcement believes that this is an act of child abuse.”

In the photos, the 2-year-old and 10-month-old are allegedly bound with duct tape around their wrists and ankles. Their mouths were also closed shut with duct tape. Police said one of the children was hung upside down on an exercise apparatus.

Police say Kayla Almunia allegedly posted the photos on Facebook on Wednesday night. Soon after, an anonymous caller reported the images to the police and provided authorities with the couple’s names and address.

Gilliland said police obtained 10 photos from Kayla Almunia’s cell phone of the bound children. All of the photos appeared to have been taken at the same time.

While police said there were no indications that the children had possibly been abused in other ways, the bondage appeared to be traumatic.

“In one photo, the child did appear to be extremely frightened and fearful and in a later one appeared to be crying,” Gilliland said.

The children were initially taken into custody by Child Protective Services but have since been released to what police deemed to be “suitable family members,” Gilliland said.

Gilliland said that the anonymous tipster is the person to thank in this case and encourages others to be similarly vigilant.

“We encourage people to pay attention..."

2 year old and 10 month old, with two idiots as parents. Those two need to go to the vet and get fixed.

The vet don’t fix that sort of thing ... cyanide does, though.

Hell....Michael Jackson could hang his kid over a balcony and child care investigators said that was fine.

Looking at the perps' faces, I'd say they have a perverted sense of humor, if any.

I understood the animal part, but vets generally try to heal and keep alive ...

I have no desire to see that female Damian reproduce again and the idiot that fell into bed with it is complicit by just being an asshole.

oops ... can I SAY that ?

Maybe this country deserves to go to hell in a handbasket. Maybe they deserve a homosexual America-hating Muslim-loving pissed-off marcissist for President. Maybe it’s almost time for God to come down here and kick someone’s a$$.

I wonder if these are the type that should be home schooling

They're just doing their best to prepare them for the *real* world of public education. That way when their teacher does it to them, they won't think it's so unusual and complain about it.

I am convinced of one thing and that's if they had been homeschooled, the article most certainly would have stated so since the MSM never misses a chance to publish a hit piece on homeschoolers.

Must be, then, that they're your typical public school graduates.

No problem at all with home schooling, I am all in favor of it, as well as Charter schools, and parochial and public and private schools.

I do have a slight issue with certain individuals that think that homeschooling is the be all end all and that every parent should do it.

Obviously this pair should not be homeschooling and probably should not be reproducing

Public educators resent the fact that homeschoolers make them look bad without all the wasted time and money on useless teaching degrees.

Since they can’t argue against homeschoolers’ success, they attack them any way they can, and that’s generally by trying to destroy their credibility through personal attacks.

You know, liberal fighting tactics from those indoctrination centers most people send their kids to.

Well, YOU’RE the one who brought homeschooling into it out of the blue for no other reason than to take a pot shot at homeschoolers.

We can see that there’s more behind that than you’re claiming.

After the irrelevant comment by verga I just assumed he/she/it was a shill for public education. It’s the typical response by public education union shills to slam homeschooling even when it’s not part of the topic. Nothing new under the sun.

Where did the article mention that they were planning on homeschooling?

Since the vast majority of people in this country still send their kids to public indoctrination centers, why does the question even come up?

It was posted to one person because that person has made a habit of saying that everyone should homeschool, and I was wondering if he/ she thinks it would be a good idea for this particular;ar couple. As I honestly said I am all in favor of homeschooling, so much so that I have offered a list to several of the more "rabid" advocates that they can take under their wing to prove how good it works in even less then ideal circumstances.

You need to be honest that home schooling is not the be all end all for every single person or situation.

NEVER POST PICTURES!

Just kidding. These people have some real problems making good decisions.

Speaking of good decisions, I just installed Rosetta Stone to teach my kids and myself Spanish. The smallest one (7) is on it right now and having a good time.

Hopefully, one or all of us will get good at the Spanish module and then add another language pack in a year or two.

So far, it is a really cool tool.
