Check out this amazing image from Rick Perry's ad, instructing voters to believe in... Mitt Romney???
I was arguing on FR that Perry always seems to attack Romney's rivals, but never Romney. Apparently, Romney learned from McCain that to win the primary, you have to get a tool to attack your enemies FOR you. But I figured before making the assertion that Perry doesn't attack Romney, I'd better confirm what 1,000 bloggers have previously complained about.
I did quickly find an ad from Perry attacking Romney, but was amazed at what I found. The video ends with the question, "Change you can believe in?" But before the question emerges, we simply read "Romney" on the top-left, and "Believe" in the middle.
A message has to be perceived to be work, so you can't suggest subliminal messages with backwards messages, or inaudible messages or masked-over messages. But you can hint to someone's brain an idea, when the person is distracted, in a way which alters the way they perceive something else.
Watch this clip: Perry's ad tells you to believe Romney! On top of that, there's an audible voice-over saying, "He's right!" (It's actually Obama's voice.) Keep in mind that when everyone ASSUMED Romney had dug up the dirt on Cain, Cain himself asserted it had been Rick Perry, to the bafflement of many. And who's hammering Gingrich with all those vicious attack ads? Rick Perry. So, of course, now Perry is going after Rick Santorum. Who benefits? Rick Perry? Don't be a fool; Perry's going nowhere, and negative attack ads on the also-rans aren't going to raise him out of the single digits. Rick Perry is doing the dirty work from Mitt Romney. And now he's telling people to believe Mitt Romney.
(Also interesting: Rick Perry's ad fades in on the word, RomneyCare in such a way that ObamaCare fades out and RomneyCare fades in... but this unique way of fading out and back in also leaves Care lingering.)
OK, I slightly flubbed the HTML, so the entire paragraph got hot-linked. But the link works. Of course, if the admin moderator felt so benevolent as to fix it for me, that’d be really awesome.
Where’s the rest of the ad?
You wouldn’t be spreading lies would you?
Interesting.
Anyway, the fast talking Rick who will rip Willard a new one in the next few debates IS going to win Iowa.
Btw, Fox News live now showing Santorum at his 350th Pizza Ranch event in Iowa — tying Huck’s record last cycle.
Congrats, Ricky! Have a slice ;)
Don’t take the bait.
And who puts out the very first attack ad against Santorum today?
That’s right, Perry with the mudslingin’.

Here is the entire ad, and that’s Obama agreeing at the end.
Sounds a little Oliver Stone-esque to me, dangus.
The fever is getting worse. It may be necessary to quarantine the whole site.
It makes sense if you watch the whole ad. And, I can’t see how it would support Romney. ???
Maybe the SyFy Twilight Zone marathon is still running.
Everyone is a Romney stalking horse. doo doo doo doo ....
This seems a little heavy on the tin foil to me.
The ad clearly links Romney to Obama and asks the question:
“Change you can believe in?”
Are you joking? Perry is the only one other than Gingrich who has been after Mitt.
In your several posts, you did not add to anything I didn’t already acknowledge. Yes, it was an ad attacking Romney. Yes, that’s Obama’s voice. And yes, you can watch the ENTIRE ad at the link. I did presume people knew how YouTube’s basic controls work.
Are you joking? Perry is the only one other than Gingrich who has been after Mitt.
Plainly, during his first few debates, Perry was going after Romney. But now that he realizes he’s not going to win, I believe he’s burning through all the cash he raised by helping attack Romney’s enemies, so he can get a VP nod.
More likely he is going after the 75% not Romney vote.
It’s sad that so many conservatives and so many Freepers don’t understand the race well enough to see why no one is attacking Romney. Let me spell it out for you all. Mitt Romney has 25% (that puts him marginally in the lead.) His 25% likes him for whatever reason, they have favored him fairly consistently for the last year. There is no “news” about Mitt Romney you can give them that is going to change their mind. But 25% doesn’t win an election...unless you have a movement (conservatism) that is stupid enough to field 6 candidates against him. So if you are one of those unfortunate 6 candidates how do you get from your 10-15% to 26% and beat Mitt Romney? I suppose if you want to listen to whining freepers you could spend the little money you don’t have to attack the awesomely funded and staffed Mitt Romney and maybe chip away 3-4% of his support and hope that that the roulette wheel stops on you and and not one of the other five guys(& gal)and you get their votes. If you you somehow succeed at this you have the prize of losing to Mitt Romney by only 5 or 6 points instead of 10. OR... you could attack one of the other 6 dwarves and hope you can knock 1 or 2 out and pick up their 10% because they are not going to vote for Mitt Romney when their guys gone. It’s not rocket science. The only way Mitt wins is if too many dwarves hang around for the next 5 weeks.
Yeah, its clearly saying Romney is the same as Obama. Some people MIGHT see that as a plus, I’ll grant you. In fact, it’s those moderate voters Romney is claiming he can appeal to. But to conservatives who are the major turn-outs in the Iowa caucus and who Perry is courting, Romney=Obama is a pretty major insult. And probably the best weapon in the anti-Romney armory (in fact, the same statement is splashed all over FreeRepublic in bolded red letters).
” Are you joking? Perry is the only one other than Gingrich who has been after Mitt. “ <<<<
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
Rick started out coming straight up the middle at Romney, time and again, when everybody else was pretending Romney didn’t even exist. Now that the three third tiers who are on life support are messing with Rick’s base, and Romney is not, Perry must answer. Santorum’s life support has revived him temporarily so Rick responds in kind. What is the big deal about that?
Hey, the truth hurts! Santorum’s record is a matter of public record. He’s not a fiscal conservative at all. He likes his pork.
Your getting desperate and sad edited and spliced bs,
I can’t stomach Santorum after he lined up for Spector (a real anti-life person). I wish Michelle would get a bump.
This is ridiculous. Perry gunning to be Willard’s VP? He has a better job in Texas.
Besides, even IF Perry wanted a VP spot, Romney’s would be the last he would choose. Perry hasn’t liked Governor Greaseball for a long time because of the Boy Scouts issue.
I didn’t think we could find conservatives wild enough to attack Santorum as somehow pro choice but I know now to set my expectations much much lower.
Exactly - the best clarification I’ve seen.
If the real conservative candidates cared about the country more than their own personal glory, at least a couple of them would be out Wednesday and throwing their support to one of the guys who has a chance - I think Gingrich and Perry. And whichever one of them gets the short stick after SC needs to get out and support the other. The only chance we have is for our good guys to lay down personal ambition, and I hope they come to realize it in time.
No, just delusional. The ad attacks Romney for Romneycare, but you know, the word “Care” is there and subliminally that means we care about Romney. And Obama says something, and everybody listens to what Obama says, and Perry never attacks Romney except all the time and then his attacks are actually butterfly kisses or something.
That’s not the first ad attacking Santorum.
Hawhoo!
