I think he means the usage of labels to describe the “perp”, not simply ethnicity.

You wouldn’t be able to tell the political affiliation, race, ethnicity or religion of those arrested at the Mall of America.

You wouldn’t be able to tell the race, ethnicity or religion of the guy dressed as Santa Claus who shot his family.

The point he makes is that there are certain groups that if they are involved in anything, their party affiliation, religion, race, ethnicity or work history is going to be mentioned in the first sentence of the article, if not the headline: Republican, Conservative, White, Christian, Military (ex or current)

The other groups specifically not listed above? Well, you might never know about who or what they are beyond their name.

An example of this bizarre behavior by the Media is the Beltway Sniper. His name was given in all the articles for some time as John Allen or John Allen Williams, and he was portrayed as disgruntled ex-military. It was only much later that it was revealed he was a Nation of Islam member and was known as John Allen Muhammed.

BTW, he was running into the national park to hide... he shot four people at a party earlier that day. And before we jump headlong into the “poor Iraqi vet” defense, he wasn’t a combat soldier. My son-in-law spent a year in Afghanistan and he hasn’t gone on a killing spree, and he saw some serious stuff.

I’ll bet this guy had issues long before he set foot in Iraq.

It depends on the doctor..and they vary.

If there were more alternate services less drugs would be needed. but then, we need to give that tax payor money to “the hood”.

the statistics do not bear that out.

So what if they had some problems before..several tours in Iraq in combat would mess up a lot of them still. Moreover, many of these vets are 21 or 24 when they get out of the service.

Yep - that is almost a perfect way to die for a killer. I’m glad to hear that he didn’t commit suicide. Soaking wet, standing in a creek at night, trying to figure out a way to climb out, perhaps trying several times but falling back in. With each time getting harder and harder, and more desperate. Yep - sounds like a reasonable punishment for this killer.

OTOH - too bad that he didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t get help for his pysch. problems.

Nothing in that article says the firebug is an illegal. His mother is being deported, not him. Where are you getting that he’s illegal?

That is what they do best, IMHO. Drugs of all sorts and lots of them. They may do some things well but there is something wrong with the way they so easily throw drugs at every problem as a first resort instead of a last resort.

Okay! Kind of moot at this point... he’ll for darn sure be deported now. With his mother.

Odd target for him to pick, though. Cars have nothing to do with immigration.

It’s been a weird few days.

All that said about the media using this as a tool for their own agendas is true enough, but in the end it boils down to a guy who shot someone and left her kids orphaned.

Sounds better he is dead regardless. Doesn’t seem to be any doubt he did it, so he is on trial up there now.

The man in custody, a foreign national whose name has not yet been made public http://www.kfiam640.com/pages/NEWS.html?feed=421898&article=9556952 this may be how i associated him with being a illegal...thanks for catching that.

Tears for all involved. The man was obviously in need of serious help, and although I am in favor of the death penalty, I am also studying psychology. We can ALWAYS mourn the death of a man, because we can mourn for our own fall from grace. We know in our hearts and minds that this should not have happened. The fall of mankind is not natural. Evil is not natural, and neither is death.

If I were to guess, I’d say he was an LPR (Lawful Permanent Resident). His mother probably came for a “visit” and overstayed.

Sorry about your poochie. :-(

"He was wearing T-shirt, a pair of jeans and one tennis shoe. That was it,"

I have no idea what happened in this case, but often severely hypothermic people will become so disoriented / confused they'll strip off their clothing. That may have been the situation here.

The media made him sound like he was a survivalist pure military survival. Also this morning I saw 2 headlines ... Ranger killed... and of course the Military vet killing ranger..
