Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
“Bible thumpers?” Buddy, you’re on the wrong site to be going after Christians.
I don’t think you understood my post based on your response.
The weird thing is, Romney, Paul, Santorum and Gingrich are simply cults of personality. None of them actually run anything and excepting Paul have been out of office too long.
All armchair quarterbacks except for Perry.
I know people on here complain that Santorum couldn’t beat Obama, but I disagree. What Americans want is a Conservative and an American. Santorum fits both.
I think, despite all of the gnashing of teeth about Romney, that we saw a victory for Conservatism. Think about it...the Conservative vote FAR outflanked the moderate/Democrat vote. If you take out 30% of Romney’s vote and 48% of Ron Pauls, that means that they performed POORLY among the Republican base. If we had one or 2 solid Conservatives running, not 4, we would be winning big.
OMG! THAT CORPORAL IS BACK SPEAKING AT A POLITICAL RALLY IN UNIFORM.
I guess that means the Army endorses Ron Paul now? I hope that kid gets walled-to-walled tomorrow.

Nice try. But Perry will endorse Newt. Stay tuned......
“I dont think Santorum is bad enough to lose to Obama but it would be close.”
Trust me, Santorum’s time is coming, this week.
The Mainstream Media ABSOLUTELY HATES THIS GUY, because of his anti-gay stances.
MARK MY WORDS, the venomous explosion of hatred you are going to see directed at him now, will make the orgy of media Palin hate PALE in comparison.
**I do NOT understand how anyone can support Ron Paul.**
But does he have Soros money behind him?
Ron Paul: I doubt if Ill come in third or fourth.
Here’s a better idea...maybe you should take the plank out of your own eye, then wake up.
That’s just WRONG
Romney is the Republican Dukakis.
Bible Thumpers?? Are you on the right site to be a Christian hater?
Pray for America
That he did. I won’t make excuses for that. Who do you make excuses for?
Thanks for pointing it out!
Good point. I was a bit put off by some of Santorums debate performances, but take what I didn’t like and turn it on Romney and Obama, and he would be formidable.
I think my reaction may have been because I liked Cain a lot, and Santorum may just have been a little aggressive because he wasn’t being given much attention.
A clear violation of the UCMJ.
Paul should also be investigated by the House for this.
Are you crazy?
Rick Perry is not out. He’s just getting started.
Bachmann may be out. Huntsman was never really in.
Iowa is not God. It’s a small state that went temporarily insane.
I’m not saying Santorum isn’t a decent guy but I never had much use for him because he just seems like someone Obama could kick sand on at the beach.
And Obama is the world’s biggest sissy.
Who is ahead?
It depends on what u call money!
****************
9 million dollars going into NH and SC— That’s what I call money.
So, is his money drying up as you indicated? That was your point. Or, are you now conceding your were wrong on the facts, and were merely being vitriolic?
OBAMA would love to blow Santorums nose for himNo your just reliably. “ <<
No your just reliably? bly, bley, re, relia. LOL. Don’t get so flustered.
So well put. Lol.
Santorum is NOT pathetic. He is a Christian who is willing to stand dup and speak his mind.
God bless him and his family of eight.
Santorum down 13 - 92 percent in.
Still anybody’s show.
Welcome to FR, douchebag.
Moderates who think bible bashing, baby-killing and sodomony are winning issues need to get real.
A total of 28 delegates were at stake tonight.
With 25% of the vote, Mitt got seven of them.
It takes 1,150 to make a majority at the convention.
This thing is far from settled.

Give it up! He spent by far the most money in IA and only got about 10%. He’ll do no better in SC and at this point is only dividing up the non-Romney vote.
thanks for posting that to AFveteran. now i don’t have to
Good point.. Newt isn't looking too happy. I don't know why in the world Fox News is carrying on about 13 votes like this caucus is the end all...be all. Sheesh.
Newt’s points went up after each debate, thats where he did his best...they need to have more debates...
Soo true that all are arm-chair quarterbacks except for Perry. He is the only candidate with impressive executive experience, job creation ability and down home values. Watch him take South Carolina. That’s his territory.
Iowa is not representative of the whole nation.
I’m running out of nails to bite.
They also hate him for his unwavering pro-life beliefs. This is an example of why they fear and loathe him:

A young pregnant woman was listening to these remarks on CSPAN late one night in 1998 and decided against an abortion. Google “Santorum CSPAN miracle”.
“Well ... Im gonna go drown my sorrows in a glass or ten of Hersheys chocolate milk.” <<<
LOL! Love it. And chocolate!
Missed it.Watching Fox news just to piss everyone off:)
You die hard Perry supports are guaranteeing a Romney victory. You lost! You lost! You spent the most money and you lost! Drop out!
“Santorum/Newt. Delegate wise, Ricks in the driver seat.”
No doubt, TONIGHT my friend.
But what a team Newt & Rick will be in NH, SC, and FL ganging up on Wilard the Lib : )
The real decision for conservatives, like it has been for me is between the candidates other than RINO Romney and nutcase Paul so as the lower vote total conservatives drop out, most supporters should consolidate to Santorum and Gingrich. The totals for the RINO and the nutcase will not change much.
Candidates just don’t wake up one day and decide they’ll stop running for President, they drop out when the money runs out. As long as Perry’s got the money, he’ll be in the race.

Abortion isn’t an important thing? There are 3,500 babies killed EVERY DAY in this country. What could be more important?
Romney by 13 votes.
Very hard to see how this turns out. Still precints in East Iowa to report. Some favorable counties left for Santorum, but most of the small counties are in except for Monona and Madison.
Hes no longer with us. ZOT
Woot! Another IBTZ for me!
I want my cookie for defending Christ, Our Country, Our Constitution, and our Conservatism! (or a pat on the head from Jim Rob would suffice) ;)
