Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
“NH is the same: OPEN primary”
I read where a lot of people from Massachusetts are coming to New Hampshire to help out Romney. Liberals sticking together.
YES! Bachmann dropping out would be excellent news for Perry, Santorum, and Gingrich. I’d take any of them over Romney.
If it’s Obama v. Gingrich, Gingrich will be my man.
Nice she’s remaining positive ...but Michelle, the People HAVE spoken now ...
I will be happy as long as the liberal Romney loses.
No offense taken.
If people like me answer conservative on Gallup’s poll then it seems logical that the term conservative has meanings that do not reflect the ideologies of most here. When you point to conservatives being a large plurality, you’re adding people like me into that mix. From your tone I suppose you’d rather me stay home on Election Day than accept a vote from someone not considered pure by FR standards.
Well, I guess we’ll see in the days ahead.
Ron Pul was born in Pittsburgh and lived in greentree...(I used to live there)
“The Mitt camp (and MSM/Fox/Rep. Establishment/dems) cannot be happy right now. Even if he managed to pull out a squeaker, hes got to know that conservative Republicans just dont like him and as candidates like Bachmann, Huntsman and Perry drop out, hell do worse. Its going to be even harder to win in SC and FL. If there are upcoming debates, I hope Newt kicks butt. Newt will win SC and FL. Go Newt!”
Oh, there’s plenty debates coming. Go Newt/Santorum! Beat Willard!
Now now, you poor dear, one must not be too hasty.
The MSM and NWO sure is.
He’s rated A- A+ by the NRA.
Someone said Newt has been sick this weekend, so that explains the tiring.
OK. I agree moral issues are important, they just aren’t the overriding concern of people without jobs and living in a car or with the parents. Maybe they should be, but they aren’t. Happy New Year.
Hilarious!!!! That was the take I had. But, you said it best. Willard needs to be exposed for the RINO he is.
i keep seeing these figures, and i'm assuming these are the numbers of cross-over Dem voters who registered as GOP so they could vote? Can someone tell me where these stats come from?
Same here, ANYONE BUT OBAMA, but if Mittens gets the GOP nod, I'll need a gurney, a barf bag, and sedatives to vote GOP.
heheheheh,:)
Did you hear what Bachmann said during her speech “There may be a Michelle in the White House” she is going to endorse Romney..she was a shill for him all along.
Is anyone keeping track of the zots tonight?
Agreed; any one of the three leaders implodes and he’s back in the game.
Well, I think you’re wrong. We Perry supporters are strong for Perry because Perry is strong.
He’s faced challenges before. Everyone thought Kaye Bailey Hutchison would be able to unseat him and the liberal press was praying for it.
She didn’t make a dent.
Perry may not win the nomination, which will be a sad thing for the party and the country, but he won’t give up.
Ha, 54 years. He might have had a case of senioritis.
Bachmann is staying in. Mitt must need her to keep taking votes away from Santorum and Newt.
We shall see. Seems his prolife message is resonating, and he’s a solid social conservative. That’s not going to be a hindrance in the south.
Perry should drop out as well.
For the umpteenth time, Romney will not be the GOP nominee.
I had great hopes that Michele working as a Tea Party supporting Congresswoman would make a difference since the 2010 midterms. Alas, that was not to be realized since she has been otherwise absorbed by this run for POTUS. I truly think this was a missed opportunity for Bachmann to make a real difference in the lives of Americans.
I like Rubio - he is a good man ... BUT BOTH his parents were NOT American Citizens when he was born ... thus he is NOT a Natural Born Citizen...
You are just plainly wrong - those who deny the truth of the matter scream racist as you do - because you cannot defend your position with rational thought ... you are just a moron
Gingrich is in big trouble then.
Also, Callistas eyes are very sad.
They have seen the writing on the wall and it says:
SANTORUM
Yes, you're absolutely right. < 30,000 people in a nation of over 300 Million have spoken.
All Hail the Boy-Prince of the Cornfields
Newt is going to New Hampshire. Rick Perry is going to SC in the morning.
Newt is gonna go wherever Mitt goes with blood in his eyes and the nomination be damned. Thats my prediction.
LOL! Same here. But I’ll do it for the cause!
That is not a big factor for a lot of women I know. They are more interested in his accomplishments in Congress, his intellect, and ability to explain his plans.
The infidelity is an issue between him and his family.
Hiya taildragger!
UGH! Banish our UN Membership like Governor Perry suggested! Move the UN to Iran! Ron Paul would approve...LOL.
BINGO!.. It's about the FAGS, that is why ROMNEY has been pushed in our faces... There are a lot of lefty GOP operators... manipulating the system hidden in the shadows, lobbying for the homes, and Flip flopper is it, this time around... The PRO-Queer Candidate. On the last one, it was Guiliani and MaCaca...
She said she’s not dropping out......what a ditz...she’s in it for herself more than anything.
But, no. She IS the next Margaret Thatcher. Can’t you see it in her eyes?
If both his parents were naturalized citizens at the time of his birth, yes he would be. Unfortunately I don't believe this is so, and hence he is not. He is not eligible to serve as president, nor vice-president. He is my senator, but unfortunately he can not run for president. I really like him.
I’m not in the tank for Perry, but those here who keep insisting his financial support will disappear over 120,000 votes in Iowa don’t understand the nature of Texans, especially wealthy Texans, very well.
That thought did cross my mind. But, Newt is from that part of the country, so maybe .......
Reads like shilling for Romney from here.
Romney will win the republican nomination. And he has a very good chance of beating Obama. So if you dont like Romney, fine. But dont support him, and take 4 more years of Obama. Its not who we want. Its only who we can choose from.

The reality is Mitt is the only republican (running) that can beat Obama in 2012. I wish there were alternatives, but the reality is, there isnt.

“Perry may not win the nomination, which will be a sad thing for the party and the country, but he wont give up.”
Doing the right thing for the party and dropping out is NOT giving up.
It’s helping us beat Willard! Period.
I agree Newt’s in it to take Romney out at this point, which is interesting because that is Perry’s sole goal too.
Concentrate on SC.
