I’m saying you should worry about actual votes.
I completely agree with you on that.....except to say that it IS a valid point to bring up.
Once. After that it’s overkill and unbecoming.
If you actually looked at this thread, I haven’t criticized Santorum for endorsing Specter. I criticized Santorum for his voting record on pork barrel projects in Congress. Open your eyes.
Mesta, I’m sure you remember that Santorum was also under seige from so called conservatives, just as he is here on this site.
Acorn had a ton of influence in the election, over 100% turnout in some eastern PA voting districts is evidence of that. The thing about him not living in PA was started by a local democratic committee person who just happened to be a member of a public union. Once the media got hold of him, just like you see here, they convinced the republicans to stand in the firing squad and conveniently forget that Santorum IS a conservative. That charge was led by a certain libertarian leaning newspaper in these parts, one who still bashes Santorum at every opportunity. The same newspaper that for decades endorsed John Murtha.
It pains me to see so many follow those who truly DO have an agenda, and the agenda has nothing to do with electing conservatives.
You still can’t come up with a good explanation for Toomey’s support ( even voiced support ) for those 2 repeals in the military ? can’t you ? so you go on and harp on about Santorum’s mistakes while excusing Toomey’s support for those repeals... it’s those “ Do as I say, and not as I do kind of things ? isn’t it ? “ because Santorum is not your guy whom your want, right ?
You have no idea what you are talking about. What was done to Rick Santorum was an concerted effort coordinated by acorn, the hard left, the establishment gop, and the state gop. BECAUSE he was conservative. Period. fast eddie rendell ran this state and both machines. Santorum was a neon target and they went after him with everything they could manufacture.
Ping to #66
Yes, this is one of Santorum’s big negatives, although I generally like him.
His other big negatives to me are big election losses and a rather uncharismatic presence - could he win? I wonder.
However he has my support if he’s nominated.
Difference is Toomey doesn’t have a voting record to prove your accusations against him.
“I remember that Scuzzynova was endorsed by Newt.”
And that’s one of Newt’s big problems, IMO, along with his sad tendency to shoot himself in the foot.
Again, he has my support if he’s the nominee.
Sorry Mesta,
I don’t excuse the republicans who bought it all and ‘stayed home’ not voting for him.
Part of the attack on him was also coordinated by that newspaper I mentioned, and they are not part of the establishment GOP, they are the libertarian leaning ones supporting John Murtha.
Having said all of that, conservatives are just smarter than that, but it was as if all of the bumper stickers and attacks on him kept people home.
We end up defeating ourselves in many elections.
“The rest have long lists of misdeeds, not a single mistake”
I don’t think Perry has a long list.
Honestly, neither of those. I would be prepared to support Santorum if he’s the nominee. I’m just pointing out flaws in Santorum’s record but they are smaller compared to that of Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich. I’m not out to destroy Santorum. I apologize for being argumentative.
Agree. And to say I was heartbroken that he lost is an understatement. He is one of the dwindling few politician I still believe is absolutely honest almost to a fault.
I am not a Santorum supporter and won’t be voting for him, but this is not a reason why. This criticism is unfair. Specter campaigned for Santorum and really helped him in his first run for the Senate. Santorum was just repaying the favor. It is very rare for a senator to campaign against a fellow senator of the same party.
I am sick of so-called conservatives who whine and cry when they lose.
I live in Pennsylvania. I fought for Pat Toomey. But I do not blame Santorum for his endorsement.
Specter did not win based on Santorum’s endorsement.......Specter won because more people voted for him than Toomey.
Conservatives did not get off their asses and come out for Toomey.
We already see this in the 2012 primary.......so-called conservatives whining about how the GOP will not give us a conservative nominee. BS!
If conservatives unite around a candidate, we will have a conservative nominee.
The GOP does not SELECT our candidate for us!
Well said! And same here. I live in PA as well. People were swindled in 2004 by what the establishment was saying.
Depends on how you look at it. We have massive GOP majorities in the PA congress and a GOP Gov and we are not doing a thing. As an example, we should have the State Stores shuttered by now, but everyone is afraid of the unions. If this was a real Red State, this issue would be over, but the elected officials are all pandering to an electorate that seems to love big gov’t just not the cost of running it.
