Santorum has given an excellent explanation for the pork of old AND the reason why he signed the NO PORK pledge when Jim DeMint called a halt to it. I guess you have selective attention disorder AKA SAD?
Furthermore, for whatever minor lapse in judgement he might ever have had, I have two words that completely exonerate him in my eyes and I will never forget.
TERRI SCHIAVO.
Me too and AMEN!
The real culprit: W.
Freddie Newt got sliced and diced in Iowa.
If u call finishing in 4th or 5th place in Iowa still standing. Freddie Newt has a ton of baggage. Santorum has a
little, but not like Freddie Newt.
“If that is his baggage then so be it. I will vote for Santorum in the primary if I get a chance.”
I would say there may be more baggage than just that. If you don’t get a chance to vote for him in a primary, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You would be voting for just another career lawyer-politician, whose ambition for such a career path started so far back it’s as if there was nothing else ever there.
Come on. First of all you know I don’t think you are a liberal. Second of all, I guess I am overwhelmed by the negative stuff coming out on Santorum. I just hope he wins tonight. I am getting a little nervous the closer it gets. I apologize for calling you a liberal.
Very well said.
He also voted for the prescription drug expansion of Medicare and he voted for No Child Left Behind
Santorum is not the small government conservative answer...Bachmann is but, for whatever reason, she may finish last tonight. Makes no sense to me.
I don’t think we differ or disagree in our assessment of what you say was “done to Santorum”.
However, I am lost on how that even remotely addresses what Santorum “did to Toomey”. You may live there, and you may have an inside track on something I don’t know about, evidence that Santorum really wanted Toomey over Specter, and you may have evidence where Santorum publically agonized over dumping Toomey, while he promoted and endorsed Snarlin’ Arlen, but I wasn’t privy to that evidence. It didn’t play anywhere in the conservative world that I know of. Where did I miss it?
I am not from Pennsylvania. What I saw was a nasty concerted effort to defeat Santorum. What I *thought* I saw, also, was conservatives who resented his wondering off the reservation to support Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey and weren’t gonna take it any more and they let him dangle. Hey, maybe I am wrong. Maybe they came out in droves for him, ignored his Arlen endorsement, and Acorn just beat ‘em. I just didn’t hear about it that way.
You’re not from Pennsylvania. yet, you celebrate the election of a liberal democrat to the Senate.
Sorry for my sarcasm, by this constant attacking of a GOOD man, Rick Santorum by those calling themselves conservatives is just sickening.
Just keep that firing squad going.
As for me, I’m supporting the republican candidate. Period.
“Youre not from Pennsylvania. yet, you celebrate the election of a liberal democrat to the Senate. “
Huh? What are you talking about?
And, who the heck do you know who ISN’T going to be found voting for the Republican candidate anyway?
I was just repeating the way Santorum’s actions played outside of Pennsylvania. It wasn’t good. If it wasn’t that way, you don’t have to get defensive, just say where I was wrong.
Maybe Santorum endorsed Toomey, but that isn’t what I heard. Maybe the PA conservatives didn’t mind him endorsing Specter, but that isn’t what I heard. Maybe it didn’t cost him conservative support, but that isn’t what I heard.
Maybe the guy who replaced Santorum was just moderate enough to pull it off as not that much difference. That is what I heard. I dunno. YOU live there.
Tempers are flaring.
Bob Casey is hardly a moderate. He’s a liberal democrat. To you “outsiders”, Santorum was slung through the mud by the mainstream media. Many bought the attacks and sadly so, many in PA did as well. That’s why he lost. The media, including the local newspaper that leans liberatarian attacked Santorum continuously, and that influence some inside PA as well.
Please don’t call Casey a moderate, what a joke that is. He’s a liberal.
And, by the way, I believe there are many who will not vote for the republican candidate IF that candidate is a certain former governor of a northeast state. Just look around the site on which we’re posting.
I’m getting defensive of any republican running for president because instead of being attacked by ONLY liberals, now they’re being attacked from conservatives. Meanwhile, Obama gets a pass.
Yes, you’re quite right, we’re all getting pretty thin skinned about now, with so much at stake. I have resorted to starting out tonight watching the Hawkeye Cauci with CSpan! I have learned a lot and it isn’t so volatile there, but is going all visual right now with no commentary so I will be surfing.
I do appreciate your view of Santorum’s loss in PA, and I liked him a lot too. That is why the Specter thing stung so much, caused him some trouble and was a problem for me. There are candidates in this race who on the job have done so much more for conservatives everywhere, and for me specifically than Santorum that it is natural that I have gravitated to them.
I certainly expect him to do well in Iowa tonight from what I hear.
