A 14-year-old admitted during a hearing Thursday that he caused a stranger's death by hitting him without provocation. But the teen, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, denied that he laughed about the assault as detectives questioned him after his arrest. Witnesses said the teen yelled something to the effect of "What did you say to me?" and got out of the car. One witness said he shouted at the teen that Gregory hadn't said anything to him and that the teen should leave Gregory alone. But the witnesses said the teen -- who is over 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds -- hit Gregory once in the mouth. Gregory, who was 5-foot-1 and weighed 106 pounds, fell and struck his head on the pavement in the 1700 block of Vaughn Boulevard. He died two days later at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Most school districts these days are requiring children to be 5 by Sept. 1. 14-year-old 8th-graders are the norm. My gifted daughter has an October birthday, and they wouldn’t let her enter kindergarten until she was almost 6, even though she’d been reading for over a year.
Let me see if I can guess. A responsible father and mother maybe?

Assuming that the victim is of the same race as the murderer, it’s really amazing how little they care for their own. How can these people advance their status if they treat each other like crap?

I guess you have to choose someone you know you can beat. Nothing like a foot in height and 70 lbs for an advantage.
I have not weighed 106 lbs since I was about 12 years old.
Sure yeah the boy’s fist made him ask for the car to come back, to get out of it, and to sock Gregory. It really doesn’t matter if Gregory taunted the boy or not — I wish we could throw away the key.
Not a danger to others? Not until the next time he slugs a stranger for no reason.

I was trying to figure out his size - because 6 ft 175 is extraordinarily big + more - for a just turned 14.
My son is extra big at 5-9 160 at 13-1/2. This kid would be a full size bigger. There might be a few guys bigger in his school - but not that much bigger.
The murderer was a man. 6 ft 175? His size was no secret to him.
