Believe me, if Obama is booted out, I’ll happily take responsibility for the results—even if Romney is in the White House.

60% of the country, when asked, considers themselves conservative.

Agree, and I believe that a well funded conservative party could win, with the kind of groundswell that the Tea Party had in 2009 and 2010. Our group needs to rise up again against the elites telling us that we either vote for a marxist or a liberal progressive who gets us to marxism, only slower. The time for accepting what has been done by the marxists, and seeking only to slow it down, is over. It is time to undo the damage that has been done, to restore the republic. If we lose that battle, America is lost.

We are the abolitionists of our time. We have decided that slavery is wrong, and want that system destroyed, no compromise possible. Socialism IS slavery. Kill it.

Scaredy cat?
No, realist.
I have no control over Iowa and New Hampshire.I live in WA state- a Democrat state. Hopefully, we may get a Republican governor next election.
If the conservatives cannot find a candidate that is electable, and receives support- then we will always get RINOs.
No one in Iowa or New Hampshire is getting their arm twisted in the primaries- they are voting for who they want to win.
The only way to exert power is to stay in the party and control the candidates to the conservative view.
Spinning off on to your own party, when you could not get the average Iowa caucus voter to vote conservative , will only get you around 10-15% of the vote- then ensuring Democrat control for years to come.
If conservatives want more control, they have to take a more active part in the primary system.

I've got it, and I think there aremillions like you. For that reason, the elites have it wrong. Mitt is unelectable. Period. He would lose, gracefully, but soundly. No one likes him. Even with all the propaganda machine in his corner, he can't get above 25 percent.

Gingrich, Santorum, Perry, would all win. When offered a choice between marxism and freedom, Americans will choose freedom. When offered a mushy choice of revamped social programs, they will go with the socialist.

If failing to vote for Romney means Obama gets four more years, then, “frankly My Dear, I don’t . . .” The fact is that Obama hates America as we know it and will do his best to destroy this country with a continued rapid transition to communism. Romney doesn’t hate America but will do his best to move us toward socialism at a moderate pace because he thinks that will be a good thing. I’m not seeing the up side to a Romney vote. If Romney is the nominee, I will vote, and I’ll work very hard to get living voters to the pools so that we have as conservative as possible a congress to stop either Obama or Romney, whichever leftist wins, but I won’t vote for Mitt. If the GOP wants my vote, they can select any of the dozens of acceptable conservatives, not one of the few unacceptable RINOs.

I think you just plain don’t want a mormon in the whitehouse and you really don’t care about the politics so much. You and the rest of your kind make me want to vomit. Your hatred for mormonism is going to kill this country...IF romney gets the nomination, which I don’t believe he will.

Where in the world did you get the idea I don't like Mormons? My not supporting Romney has nothing to do with his religion and everything to do with his politics. He's a NE Liberal. If I'm prejudiced against anyone, it would be New England Republicans. I just don't trust them.

I did say “some”. Some is better than none, which is what you’ll get if you have a RINO progressive in the WH. The Republican party is finished unless they jettison the progressive faction and send them packing to the Dems where they belong.

I’d rather the D’s own the coming debacle rather than the R’s, but if the R’s insist on becoming the whig party because they refused to stand up against the neo-slavery of the 21st century, well tough sh**, I won’t be on that wagon with them.

The fact is that mittens will have a substantial attrition rate among conservatives, evangelicals, and libertarians no matter what. This makes him very weak. And if mitt is the nominee, he may be tempted to run to what he and his handlers consider to be the ‘center’ in an effort to capture the moderates, independents, and the uninformed. His Washington insider campaign advisors will be reluctant to criticize zero. This will further erode his conservative financial support and grass roots enthusiasm.
The GOP is playing this like a football team sitting on a 3 pt lead using a ‘prevent’ defense. Not smart.

Mitt’s policies are the same as Obama.

He won’t stop gays in the Military, he won’t stop Obamacare (it is based on Romney care), he won’t rescind anything anti-gun or pro abortion. And that is just for starters.

Maybe you need too take a look at the Romney Truth file.

It’s Mrs. And lets see...

abortion

guns

Obamacare (you can’t think Reagan would have supported that)

gay marriage (not an issue back then but again not something Reagan would have supported)

gays in the military

I can keep going. Mitt is the antithesis of Reagan.

Would he veto a repeal of the repeal of DADT?

He stated that he felt Obamacare and Romneycare were different, because one was made by a state and one made for all the states. He said he would repeal parts of Obamacare.

What Federal anti gun law can he rescind?

What abortion laws will he not rescind? Would he veto a bill that pulled funding from PP?

I would be torn if Romney were the Republican nominee. He may be nominally better than Obama: I don’t know. But at some point in time we’ve got to take a stand with the party. They stack the deck to get their “moderates” nominated by manipulating the primary schedules and by cozying with the MSM to pump up their guy.

They feel comfortable that conservatives will vote the party line. After all, where would they go? It’s like the battered wife syndrome.

Personally, I’ve given up on the nomination process. My state is irrelevant: the nominee is chosen by the time they allow us to participate. And the party removes a state’s delegates if they DARE try to move themselves into a position of relevancy.

I worked for years in the GOP (in another state) and I found more backstabbing and slander from within the party than I ever saw when I was dealing with the opposition. I invariably came away from party meetings feeling the need for a bath.

Romney supports PP, so he will support funding it.

Sorry, Mrs. Reaganaut...:)

Abortion: Seems to have had the same type of position as Reagan

Guns: You forget that President Reagan supported the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban - just like Mitt. Not to mention signing the 1986 bill that banned automatic weapons. Looking at Mitt's positions - they don't seem that different. I think you forget the real positions of Reagan...

Obamacare: Mitt is on the record as wanting to repeal Obamacare.

Gay marriage: So pushing for a Federal law recognizing marriage as one man and one woman means gay marriage supporter?

Gays in the military: He supports don't ask, don't tell. The same policy as President Reagan.

Antithesis? So how would he be different than a President who gave us amnesty, who increased taxes, who exploded the Federal budget, who compromised with Tip O'Neill and Scoop Jackson, who gave us Sandra Day O'Connor?

I think you need to just go look at the candidate himself rather than listen to the mob here, and go and re-evaluate who President Reagan was.

Is Mitt my guy? Nope - I was for Cain, and now am leaning to Perry. But Mitt is MILES away from Obama, and really not all that different in most positions than Reagan if you look at it critically.

Yeah, whatever, just remember what you said when President Obama II begins issuing his Executive orders and edicts. He has already shown his complete contempt for the Constitution and Congress has proven its inability and unwillingness to stand firm against his dictatorial actions.

You think it's going to be as good in a second Obama term? You doubt that, should Obama win reelection, there will be a concerted attempt to have him for a third, fourth and fifth term? Perhaps dispense with elections completely?

Uhh . . . yeah, Obama, Romney, six of one, half-dozen of the other. /ROLLEYES

Right, because Barack Obama has already proven how much respect he has for the Constitution and the limits on his powers. He didn't really just violate the Constitution both in spirit and letter. He wouldn't dare appoint a justice to the SCOTUS without congressional approval, just look at how strong and immediate reaction was from his appointments in January. /rolleyes
