Yep. I remember one incident in particular. Our Inf Bn just came off a week long ARTEP. One of our companies came up short a bayonet. The entire Bn was locked down for 12 hours looking for it but it never surfaced. The Bn Cdr rolled the entire unit back to the field to scour the terrain for the missing bayonet. It "magically" appeared within an hour after we were back in the field.
Oddball was the best part of KH. I was watching An Officer And A Movie running KH and the commentator (I forget who) said essentially an Oddball type simply couldn’t exist as Donald did in the movie. Most people figured that ages ago surely but being over the top is what sold Oddball.
