I’m a social and fiscal conservative. Santorum’s big-goverment record should make even social conservatives think twice.

“With Bachmann and Cain gone, Santorum is the last decent conservative standing.”

That is completely true. Rick Santorum, though not flawless, is our only shot at stopping Romney. Romney will win New Hampshire, but if we’re lucky, he’ll fall short of expectations. The big danger is that in South Carolina, the conservative vote will be divided, enabling Romney to slip by with a low plurality.

Gingrich.

For once, before the light of liberty is extinguished, the world needs to hear the ideas of liberty of Jefferson and Madison debated and defended against the counterfeit ideas advocated by the current President.

Only a scholar who has the founding ideas on instant recall will be able to expose, rebuke and repudiate the siren song of "redistribution" and "helping" that Obama's foundations in "other" ideas have provided him.

Jefferson's intellect enabled him to be the one the geniuses of America's founding generation called upon to argue on their behalf against King George III.

Much has been made about the so-called "intellect" of Obama. A debate with a historian who has studied civilization's history of liberty versus tyranny, especially America's noble history, may be just the spark needed to relight the flame of passion for liberty in America's youth

Well and truly stated.

I would add just one thing - on the last line - "in America's youth...and the past few generations schooled in gov't indoctrination camps where real American history is no longer taught.

I look forward to watching O'Bumbles get Newtered.

For a host of reasons, the obvious answer is Newt Gingrich.

I will not claim accuracy.

As of post 400, here are my counts:
Gingrich - 183
Perry - 69
Santorum - 61
All - 7
None - 3
Clutter Posts - 77

There were a couple that voted for 2 people, I counted both. There were more than a few people who voted multiple times, if they were next to each other I noticed and was able to filter, that’s part of the 77 “clutter” posts.

Newt - by a mile. He's clearly the most qualified guy in the race from either party to execute in the office , whether or not he is the best campaigner remains to be seen.

MrEdd was a talking horse... but this Edd is the South end of a horse headed North.

You know the rules (which especially apply, if you're going to go ad hominem on someone).

Ping to MrEdd.

More than ever a tough, pragmatic conservative is needed that will viciously fight the conservative corner.

I’m undecided between Newt and Santorum.......Newt is fantastically articulate, I love the way he fights the media, the left....baggage is a but off putting, but his overall political record is not to be doubted.

Santorum is a fresh younger conservative that I think would probably fair better in the long run against Obama, maybe a VP position would be best for him now.

Perry is just too Bush 43, exceptionally likeable, but in my opinion not as articulate as he needs to be......it would be Bush 43 all over again.

In summary...........undecided

Newt/Santorum....either would be a strong candidate.

Romney is Obama Lite, Newt is a lizard, don’t know enough about Perry, so I’d go with Santorum.
