At least my Hogs won the Cotton Bowl since we couldn’t get a BSC bowl because of these two.

I took LSU in my bowl poll but gave it my least points because this one was a coin toss.

Seriously thought LSU would at least have SOME offense.

Neither team has a good offense. Passing in the SEC sucks; same for pass defense.

Oregon and USC are going to be very tough to beat next year. Oregon’s offensive and defensive lines were very young this year, and all the skill people are coming back.

LSU has good speed on defense, but not so much on offense. That was a big difference tonight.

Can you or another poster answer this question please?

What is this nickname “Honey Badger?” THANKS!

Congrats to AL for winning the BCS Bowl Championship!

Against a mediocre QB like Jefferson that interpretation leaves alot to be desired. Had they done this against somebody like Robert Griffin I’d be more impressed. I have seen better defensive performances in both the college and professional level against better teams.

Well after last night he is now the syrup badger. . . LOL
Honey badger (Mellivora capensis), also known as the ratel, is a species of mustelid native to Africa, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. Despite its name, the honey badger does not closely resemble other badger species, instead bearing more anatomical similarities to weasels. It is classed as Least Concern by the IUCN due to its extensive range and general environmental adaptations. It is a primarily carnivorous species, and has few natural predators due to its thick skin and ferocious defensive abilities.
They called him that on the bus returning to Baton Rouge after a game. He had no idea what it was. He looked it up and liked it and it stuck.

Possibly against LSU last night the way they played.
No way in hell could Boise or any other college team and some pro teams have beaten ALABAMA last night.
NO WAY. . . . . . . .
It was classic "NICK-AT-NIGHT" last night. He had them ready.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble but the Indianapolis Colts as sorry as they are would beat the Tide 35-7. There is a huge difference between the pro and college game in both terms of speed and strength. Powerful NFL teams like Green Bay, New Orleans, New England and Baltimore would beat them 63-0 or even worse. Even though there will be at least 10-20 off this team that will make the pro-ranks, not all of them will be starters and not many rookies have substantial impact. It is still the men versus the boys.

Yes I was thinking more along that line or semi-pro.

You didn't bust any bubble.
There is no way to prove it as they will never play each other.

It is very easy to deduce. 80-90% of the players on the Tide and LSU will never make the Pros and make a living in the NFL. That is just a proven fact. The players on the NFL team are simply better as they have proven themselves to be there. The Colts though the NFL’s worst team still have several players who are all pro plus have playoff and Super Bowl experience (Freeney, Mathis, Addai, Wayne, Clark etc). To even insuiate that a college team can beat a pro team is utterly assinine.

There used to be an “All-Star” game where the dreaftes of the previous year met pro footbal’s champion. They won several games, including beating Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers team once.

And this was a team that hadn’t played together all season.

Yes and the pros used to put a half-hearted effort into it as the coaches did not want their players to get injured in a meaningless charity exhibition game. The Pros usually played at 1/2 speed and let the subs play alot. If those NFL teams really played it serious the All-stars never would have won or even gotten close. Nor would the collegians want to play in a game where they got their heads kicked in. I’ve read a few books from NFL players from that Era who talked about this game and said it was more for fun if anything.

The SEC is a good conference, but they ain’t all that, Chief.

BCS National Champions by conference (1998–present)

SEC - won 8 Tennessee (1998), LSU (2003, 2007), Florida (2006, 2008), Alabama (2009, 2011), Auburn (2010)

Big 12 - won 2 Oklahoma (2000), Texas (2005)

ACC - won 1 Florida State (1999)

Big Ten - won 1 Ohio State (2002)

Big East - won 1 Miami (2001)

Pac-12 - won 0* None*

I’m not disagreeing with you. Nevertheless, they did get beat. In the end that’s all that matters.

Not if you coast and go half speed. It is not really a test of a teams true capability. It was more Barnum & Bailey.
