Don’t know about the whole world, but I do know that all the gold in California is in the bank in the middle of Beverly Hills in somebody else’s name.

If the economy doesn’t turn around soon, a major percent of the gold in the US will end up in pawn shops.

Sold my last coin yesterday! I’ll barter with hamburger meat if it does get bad. But I truly know we are Americans and we can fix it when the adults are in charge!

You haven't seen a jewelry shop until you've been inside an Indian jewelry shop.

I have read that there is more gold dissolved in the world’s oceans than in all the treasuries on earth............

It’s a fiction to say that the gold in California is gone.

Sure, they took out the easiest 20% that had been eroded out of the hills and did some mining for it BUT people who are involved in surveying and mining will tell you that 80% of it is still there. But deep and hard to get, and environmental laws are a beech!

One thing I keep hearing is that no matter what happens with gold, it will soon start to be general knowledge that THERE IS LESS USABLE SILVER IN THE WORLD THAN GOLD!!
Some estimates are as low as around 2 billion ounces...

2000 years old, and you can still buy something with it today. What will a wad of Federal Reserve Notes buy 2000 years from now?

Gold is a very stable element. I think the only substance that can dissolve gold is Aqua Regal (King's water) a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid.

"2000 years old, and you can still buy something with it today."

Actually, that coin is late 4th century, so only about 1,700 years old. Probably worth more today than when minted in Ravenna, Italy, ca. 496 A.D.

"What will a wad of Federal Reserve Notes buy 2000 years from now?"

The real question is what will they buy 2 years from now.
