96% of Negative Super PAC Spending Since Iowa Has Targeted Gingrich
WSJ - blog ^ | Jan 10, 2012 | By Jeremy Singer-Vine

Nearly all negative spending by super PACs in the presidential campaign over the past week has gone toward opposing Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker who trailed badly in polls leading up to today’s New Hampshire primary, according to a WSJ analysis of expenditures reported to the Federal Election Commission.

In total, anti-Gingrich super PAC Restore Our Future disclosed $89,962 in expenditures opposing Mr. Gingrich’s candidacy since the Jan. 3 caucuses in Iowa, where he came in fourth. That’s 96% of all negative spending in the past week by super PACs, the newest and most controversial form of political action committee, which can raise unlimited sums of money but aren’t permitted to coordinate with the campaigns.

Here’s how negative spending by super PACs looked over the past week, according to our analysis of expenditures submitted to FEC:

Negative Super PAC Spending Since Iowa Caucus

Newt Gingrich   $89,961.75
Mitt Romney   $1,548.41
Rick Santorum   $1,276.23
Ron Paul   $1,121.73

In the tank for Romney and against Gingrich today:

Rush Limbaugh

Pat Buchanan

Ron Paul

How ‘likely’ or ‘natural’ is that alliance?

The GOP - offering a distinction without a difference for as long as you will play.

And yet, Rush attacked Newt today for going negative on Romney. Makes you wonder whose side he’s on anyway. Unreal...

Since the beginning of the 2012 election cycle, Restore Our Future has spent nearly $4.5 million on anti-Gingrich mailings and advertisements. Other negative spending by super PACs doesn’t come close. The next most-attacked candidate is Mitt Romney, whom two super PACs have spent roughly $308,000 opposing.

Negative Super PAC Spending Over Entire Campaign

Newt Gingrich   $4,470,936.44
Mitt Romney   $307,967.08
Rick Santorum   $1,464.15
Ron Paul   $1,564.39

I thought I heard today that Newt’s super PAC just got $20 million from a casino owner. That should help Newt to combat this unbalance in SC.

What else would you expect from Mitt McCain, the candidate who likes to fire people?

No matter how conservative some on our side like to call themselves, in the end they are bigger wimps than RINOs.

What ever happened to all of the moaning about “taking the gloves off” and not playing by “Queensbury rules”? I guess those are just cliches you utter when they want to appear as “tough”.

They dont play to win, but they sure as hell complain when the Democrats do it without a blink.

So did Pat Buchanan on Hannity’s Radio Romney program today.

We’ll do what we can. Last time there was not a damn thing we could do to stop McCain in Mississippi. I did get to vote for the black guy though. Alan Keyes by name.

Rush did also say that Romney had it coming to him after his attack in Iowa.

"The powers that be are working overtime to anoint us with Willlard, then he will loose the general election."

You got that right, there are not enough Mormons to elect Romney. He really is not all that exciting of an individual.
