Wisconsin led all other states in shedding state government jobs in the second quarter of last year.
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show state government employment in Wisconsin dropped about 10 percent from April through June, compared to the first quarter. That's about 8,000 jobs according to the latest figures available.
The Journal Sentinel ( http://bit.ly/wvYABL) says behind Wisconsin is Louisiana, where state employment decreased by 5.8 percent, then New York down 3.5 percent.

Not good news for the unions and the DNC. “Dues” down 10%.
Did the union bosses just receive a 10% downgrade of their salaries?
It’ll save we Taxpayers money in the long run, but a lot of that decline is due to many older employees retiring (I know of four, myself) and taking their Golden Parachutes with them, as fear sets in that Governor Walker will take more perks away from them in the coming years.
So, pretty much the first wave of rats have fled the sinking ship, LOL! :)
NYS hired 50,000+ during a recent hiring freeze.
“but a lot of that decline is due to many older employees retiring”
This is what we call the ‘low hanging fruit’ in reducing the size of government. Let them retire and just not fill the positions...nobody is laid off, so nobody lost their job...you could even spin it that “after years of dedicated service some employees are now able to enjoy a happy retirement”. Then after letting everything settle for a short period of time you go after the ‘hire up fruit’ and actually lay some people off...and some of those retired former employees living on a fixed income might just support the effort...
I agree 100%. I’m glad they’re gone. I’m tired of supporting them, LOL!
Full Disclosure: I’m retired Army, so y’all may be supporting ME one day - BUT, I’m not counting on it...and I have prepared accordingly. :)
“Full Disclosure: Im retired Army”
Thank you for you service...I do not have a problem supporting those that have served, but I think you may be right. There just won’t be any money available soon to support anybody. Keep preparing and God bless.
