The elite have spoken. And that includes Jim Demint in the shadows it seems.
Even if you combine the three “Not Romney” candidates they are behind. This is a very troubling development. For those that say we can wait to winnow out the field I hold Florida up as an example. Romney is winning in southern states due to momentum alone. Either you break the momentum or accept a Romney nomination. After SC two of the “Not Romney” candidates will need to get out if there is to be any chance of stopping Romney from locking this up.
This sucks. This just makes me sick.
“Rasmussen is under the control of Karl Rove’s Secret Mind Control Rays” response in 3....2....1....
We better concentrate on the house and senate races because I don’t think the GOP wants the white house. Things are such a mess that fixing them is going to cause some major hurt for all and the GOP doesn’t want the blame so they’d rather sit back and let the slide into socialism continue.
You have to wonder why Perry is still in this.
This is nauseating. Hopefully the right outcome in SC will bring some semblence of sanity to Florida.
It looks like The nominee is going to be Romney. The only question is, how much is his nomination going to hurt down ticket R candidates?
It’s going to hurt it a lot. We’re playing with fire if we think it’s a given we can hold the House. It’s not a myth that a different electorate comes out in a Presidential year than in a midterm.
Whatever Romney’s true numbers are in Florida, they will fall even more after South Carolina.
This is sickening. All these people lining up behind Romney because the establishment repeats over and over and over “he’s the only one who can beat Obama.”
Right now Perry has no chance. But I don’t mind him staying in at this point as he’s become the most aggressive in attacking Romney. He brutalized Romney on Hannity the evening of the NH Primary.
Citing his executive experience, successful economic record, thoroughly vetted background and solidly conservative credentials, Perry is the best man for the job. That so many voters can't see this is depressing. Perry remains the most conservative candidate in the race but, yes, his days are numbered. This, to me, says a lot more about my fellow "conservative" voters than it does about Rick Perry, a good man who deserved far more than his single digit polling has awarded him.
Another scam. They release a “poll” showing Romney getting 35% of the vote and he gets very close. They know that if the “poll” said he’d get 35.4467% and he got 35.4467% “we the people” might question it. They’ll also put out “polls” showing how much obama will win by. Just like the “poll” showing the economy on the mend and unemployment going down.
I’ve got to come up with a new tag line. I’m not sure a “second” or “third” or “fourth” party would do any good when they’re all controlled by the ONE party. Plus the ONE party controls the vote “counting” and the press.
If Romney does squeak out a win in SC and wins by anywhere near the number shown in this poll, the race is pretty much over.
The recent endorsements [Bolton, Todd Palin, et al] have been great helps to Romney.
If this holds up, the Elite GOP can again raise a middle finger to the Tea Party and conservatives and say, ‘just like in 2008, you’ll take who we give you and like him.’
However, Romney is still only getting about 25-35% of the voting. A sincere, coalesced effort of the remaining 65-75%, excluding 20% for Paul, would still be enough to push a conservative to the forefront.
That means two of the three [Santorum, Gingrich, Perry] must drop out soon and throw their support to the remaining one. Will that happen or will we see a repeat of 2008 with hucka-hangers-on fighting to the bitter end and splitting the conservative vote just enough to give the Elites’ Preferred the edge?
what really makes me ill... I think early voting may have already begun in Florida (not sure)
Obama has already shown movement to downgrading the need for Congress. If he gets a second term, how much further might he go toward just having a Potemkin Village "peoples assembly?"
I like Perry, I really do.
However, the guy would lose a debate to a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. I know debates aren’t the end-all, but when you’re trying to change the national conversation, you have to be able to hold your own against the guy you’re trying to beat.
On the stump when campaigning, Perry is great. His ideas, rock solid. He even “looks” Presidential.
However, the debating issues, plus the fact that he sounds so much like Dubya when he talks would make him a weak general election candidate, unfortuntately.
Todd Palin endorsed Gingrich.
Free Public Polls are marketing tools ONLY, using the power of conformity on the Gullible. Teach others and take away their ability to manipulate elections:
The Power Of Conformity...
Perry should be the VP Choice.
So the fact that scientific polls, for the most part, are fairly accurate predictors of real election results is evidence they are a "scam"?
The problem with the other candidates uniting against Romney is they all want a job in his cabinet. I predict you will see them all on stage at the convention with their hands together high in the air. Right after they’ve all made the nomination speeches.
These polls are meant to demoralize you, conservatives.
Keep the faith.
Remember, firstly, the GOP E is likely influencing these polls some.
More importantly, when Gingrich or Santorum loses in SC, one will drop out. This race in Florida is far from over.
IMO Gingrich wins SC and wins by 10% in Florida.
B) Please email me with breaking news, especially if the Hitler from Venezuela or Iran dies because I am done with the news period! I'll stick with Whale War threads, Sports and Video Games. (I seriously found out about the Hitler from North Korea dying 2 weeks later because I tuned out...)
C) For the final time Rick Perry, please just go away so I can change my tagline back to "Go Bulls and Go Blackhawks!!!"
He might be if he keeps Newt out.
"what really makes me ill... I think early voting may have already begun in Florida (not sure)"
"Romney and Paul get jump on Fla. absentee voters"
"..Of all the candidates, Romney had the biggest jump on early voters, who started receiving ballots before he notched his first win at the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses.
The former Massachusetts governor's campaign is better organized in Florida than any other. And it immediately sent out literature to court voters as soon as ballots were sent in December. That meant some people opened their mailboxes to find both a ballot and an appeal from Romney."
Now what? About 130,000 have supposedly given Romney this “unstopable” surge and opposition people seem to be capitulating right and left. This is what happens when people try to pick a candidate based on “looks Presidential” or “can beat Obama”. Because, after all, Bachmann is too shrill, Cain is an accused sexual deviant, and Perry is as dumb as a box of rocks (super-mega sarc intended).
Romney is John Kerry Jr. I posted this article from Slate magazine that was written in 2004. The Democrats thought the same fallacious reasoning about Kerry being “more electable” and “could beat Bush” would win him the Election. It obviously didn’t. And now the Republicans are prepared to make the same mistake.
Don’t get me wrong. Romney could probably squeak by an Electoral victory, but what is it worth? The establishment would have regained control and any gains made in Congress would be lost. And most likely, in 2016, we would have Romney going up against another one of these liberal messiahs in the making that is Andrew Cuomo. If you care about social issues, the future looks bleak.
The Tea Party is going to have to become more formally organized so that candidates can be clearly vetted so what happens this year with defections doesn’t happen again.
Maybe things will chage in the upcoming weeks and Newt or Santorum or even a new entrant will emerge, but this just flat out sucks.
(Just change the name of Kerry to Romney, Bush to Obama, Dean to Gingrich, and Edwards to Santorum, and you’ve got almost exactly the same situation)
This primary season sux and Ru Paul and Romney are the reasons.
OPEN primaries are the pits.
Time to DUMP NEWT and get behind the real conservative. He can’t win the South!
I don’t like a single one of them. I heard Newt on Hannity yesterday and all I could hear was a petty, petulant, childish boor. There is not a single candidate worth a damn in the race. We, at the risk of waxing dramatic, are doomed..
I don’t care what anyone says, we have lame candidates. And why is that? Because the GOP sucks. Rather than stand a year of scrutiny and I admit it will be a very harsh leftist media scrutiny, they put up someone that they think the NYT will not be mean to. Pathetic, simply pathetic, yet mere speculation of a 3rd party invites derision and scorn.
How did it ever get this bad?
Thats not good. Need either Newt or Rick to win SC and the other drop out.
It’s your belief that the polls are “scientific”. I believe they put out a poll and fix the vote to match the poll. In fact, I’m not sure why there is an election. The polls are always right on the money. Is that because they’re so “scientific”?
Just my belief so no need for the insult.
WHITE HOUSE INSIDER: Heads Up The Cook The Books Campaign Is Underway
The above article is about Obama’s use of propaganda through polls, but the same tactic applies to the Republican establishment. No way do the elitists running this political party want their cash cow, the Federal government, changed.
35% is nowhere near enough to equal a majority. The conservatives need to get their act together.
I know quite a few that agree...
If Santorum endorses Gingrich now, it probably would give Gingrich a small bump in SC, but not enough of a win to counter the inevitable argument that: "He should have won SC by the same margin Romney won NH. It was home turf."
OTOH, if Gingrich endorses Santorum now, it could change everything.
Driving the herd with the inevitability whip.
Florida is still a ways away. If a Not Romney can stop Romney in S.C. and get some coalescing then things can change.
Perception/momentum is the key - powerful stuff for the great unwashed.
Pick your poison, America.
And the President is going to be Obama.
rbm, didn’t you know these polls are scientific? sarc
dengar, I have to shut down the computer for a few weeks at a time to maintain any sanity.
Rasmussen is a Faux News Poll, nothing more. Anyone that believe the liberal Morman has doubled up on Gingrich in Florida also believes in the tooth fairy.
Most people who call themselves Republican are simply not conservative really.
They just won’t yet accept full blown socialism or a total lack of moral compass.
And they are very whimsical.
yet FOX had another poll early this morning showing RINO just winning by a couple with Newt and Rick right behind him and Perry with 5%
what do people change their minds on mass in an hour, well according to FOX they must do.
Perry has got to step aside and maybe Newt can step out and give Rick a go and bring the votes together to take Romney out
If Newt and Perry wants to hurt RINO then drop out, and give the money and votes to rick and maybe Rick would let Newt be VP
If they stay in due to ago then WE ALL LOSE
