First Time in 16 Years: A Standing "O" given at a Debate. (Vanity)
January 17, 2011 | no dems

Posted on 01/17/2012 4:12:55 AM PST by no dems

Frank Lunz was on the FOX Post Debate Analysis last night after South Carolina Debate. He made the statement that in 16 years of following Debates, that was the first time he'd ever seen a candidate get a Standing Ovation. Newt did not just get a Standing "O" from his supporters but, by-and-large from the entire crowd when he defended his comment about Barack Obama being the "Food Stamp President" and his stance on young Blacks needing a work ethic rather than government assistance.

Newt didn't just "knock it out of the park" once last night. He "knocked it out of the park" several times. I'm telling you; when the dust settles, if the two major Party nominees are Newt and Obama, Newt will mop the floor with the Marxist in Chief. And, refute this if you want, but most Americans, especially those who are not political junkies and are not tremendously informed, make up their mind as to whom they will vote for by watching the Debates. I've observed this since 1960. The Debates are the tipping points in the elections. Therefore, I submit that Mitt Romney is NOT the most electable Pubbie running. Newt Gingrich is the one who can defeat Barack Obama.

SC is the turning point/confirmation of every Republican candidate for pres. Bush 43 and McLaim both locked it up there. A Romney lost here will mean severe damage to his campaign. Iowa and NH aside, this will be proof that Romney cannot lock up the base of the party. It will become a two man race and this will be his downfall.

The only reason that Rommey got this far is because the field was fractured by 7-8 candidates and Romney had the best financed most effective campaign organization. When it gets down to two candidates there’s no more hiding.

I thought the day has passed that a politician would actually speak his mind and convictions without regard to Political Correctness.

Newt AMAZED me as he spoke his mind and the truth (the truth having been quelled under PC for so long).

I have always been in a quandary as to who to vote for as our candidate and last night, my choice was made. It will be Newt because he will be the one to take Obama to the wood-shed. No one else can.

I'm still voting Perry in the primary. I would vote for Gingrich in the general. No way Mutt Romney.

The anti-gun, pro- union thug, Mr. Sweater Vest can slither his way back to PA.

He worked WITH the NRA to fend off Leftist gun control—he did more to protect the 2nd Amendment than all the rest combined.

But then you haven't perused his record—you only listen to his opponents’ smears.

rove said that last night’s debate ‘solidified’ Newt’s SECOND place win in SC. I’m like....what?

I’d been strong for Santorum until I saw Newt last night. If he could repeat that strong performance in a debate against Hussein, i.e., not become psyched out or intimidated, I think he’d have a chance to win the general. I like that his answers are short, strong, and can be understood by anyone — even mentally challenged democrats.

I am a member of the NRA.

That said, I agree with you about Santorum’s lie.

Under Heston, the NRA was absolute in the support of all freedoms granted under the 2nd Amendment and the freedom to keep and hold guns and store them as we wish.

Later leadership in the NRA has me worried since Political Correctness (PC) has been creeping into the NRA for some time now.

The NRA is now responsible to call his bluff or to prove it. However, they won’t make a sound since their leadership has been affected by PC.

In order to save our country we must first beat Romney, then we have to beat his clone in the White House.

Rove has been in the inner circle of RINOs all of his political career. He’s “one of the boys” in the club and the money he has made through his life depended upon his loyalty to the RINO club.

Every time Mitt opens his mouth and speaks it reminds me of those late-night used car salesman ads we used to see in CA.

He reminds me of the mousy looking guy in the cheap plaid suit trying to sell a crappy car as showroom new.

Heck, even the USSC came out and said that requiring trigger locks on guns violated the 2nd amendment.

And the stupid idea of the ‘so called’ gun show loophole, if passed as it was written would end private gun sales.

Santorum is a lying snake.

Laura Ingram on Fox and Friends now—effusive in praise of Newt; thought Romney did not do well at all.

Gretchen Carlson reveals she is totally in the tank for the FauxNews candidate—over and over again.

I watched the debate last night and noticed the deliberate fielding of questions to Mitt and not to Newt. Of the few opportunities Newt had to speak, the audience went wild. Funny, because this morning all the news agencies stated that Mitt is leading by double over Newt, according to polls. I guess no one at the debate was polled. The libs are desperate for Mitt.

This debate was like the kenndy-Nixon debate, if you listened on the radio the crowd make the who thing unbearable and should have been thrown out. And that fool ron paul was as bad as the idiots in the crowd. A debate is a debate, no a dang shouting match from a few fools in the audience.
