Spot on summary without giving too much away. :D The theater I went to was packed and some of the scenes were powerful enough to evoke tears and applause from the audience. I am glad I sated my curiosity despite the negative reviews. IMO the film does the real Iron Lady justice.
It’s insulting to her to watch.
It’s that bad.
I'm not much of a movie goer or film critic. but I do remember this Hollywood ditz who couldn't tell you the f'n boiling point of water testifying in Congress about the dangers of Alar which turned out to be totally safe and is still used.
But that was ok with her because her publicist set up the appearance in Congress to coincide with some f'n movie she made about her fighting fictitious big bad polluting companies. They sold a lot of movie tickets. In the end, hundreds of real life farmers were destroyed over her Hollywood myth.
Screw her and Hollywood. Everything I want or need to know about Maggie Thatcher I can read in reputable books. I don't need a pack of Hollywood lefties feeding it to me at $12 a ticket.
God Bless Maggie Thatcher! She, the Gipper, and JP II freed a billion people from slavery. Our job is to keep them free, and we're not doing a very good job at it.
Dementia is just a disease. Maybe that’s why I didn’t mind watching it depicted in Thatcher. I never idolized her, just admired her greatly, so I didn’t feel that my idol was tarnished.
Of course the movie does get into her political downfall too. I thought that was honestly done, and even the negative aspects of her relationship with her family. You might call it a “warts and all” biopic.
I think it was all done respectfully and very, very well. I can’t understand where all the negativity about the film is coming from. Maybe from those who don’t want too many people to see it, since it might change a few minds about her and about conservatism in general.
