Gingrich camp heads off ex-wife interview

The Gingrich campaign launched a preemptive strike as news spread that ABC plans to broadcast a potentially damaging interview with Newt Gingrich’s second ex-wife on Thursday – just two days before Saturday’s crucial South Carolina primary.

Gingrich’s daughters (from his first marriage) Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman came to their father’s defense in a letter released by his presidential campaign.

“The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events,” the daughters said in the letter addressed to ABC News Leadership.

“We will not say anything negative about our father’s ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves,” the letter said.

The daughters also said the former House Speaker intends to stay on message, suggesting one thing he will not be talking about in South Carolina is the ABC interview.

Look at their accomplishments. Newt allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Romney, on the other hand, vehemently denied Ronald Reagan and aligned himself with Ted Kennedy and the left. Romney accomplished installing liberal big government programs, defended and promoted Roe v Wade and legalized abortion as “settled law,” advocated and implemented RomneyCare with its liberty killing government mandates against formerly free citizens and its taxpayer funded or subsidized and mandated abortion procedures. He ran and governed to the left of Ted Kennedy on the “gay agenda” resulting in gay marriage in Massachusetts. He appointed liberal judges and liberal appointees throughout his government. Under his “leadership” conservatism and the Republican party was all but destroyed in Massachusetts.

Romney is one evil liberal progressive. No way in hell will MittBots be allowed to support this abortionist, big government, socialist scumbag on FR!

Guess my message isn’t clear enough. I have to keep repeating it and zotting would be MittBots.

Newt needs to bow out and endorse Santorum.

Lotsa luck with that loony notion.

His attacks on Free Enterprise are not in line with Conservative thought.

Newt no more attacked free enterprise by pointing out some unsavory facts about Mitt Romney than would he be attacking the practice of medicine by pointing out what is wrong with abortion.

the daughters said in the letter addressed to ABC News Leadership.

...and the ABC New leadership filed away the letter in the round folder, while they giggled quietly, savoring their hatchet job.

Newt's daughters have the politest way of saying "she's a liar" I've seen in recent memory.

Regarding Clinton's impeachment, perhaps my memory is faulty, but didn't it have something to do with lying under oath?

Isn’t that what Cain tried to do?

Cain actually went further, he tried to blame it on another candidate.

It didnt play

He attacked Romnuts true character and record at Bain Capital which is a misnomer for Bain Vulturism.

The real tactics of Bain give Capitalism a bad name.

Romney is like the pedophile priest that hides behind the cross of capitalism.

It’s old news now anyways.

Good analogy. Newt has always supported business and entrepreneurs.

I don’t see that Newt’s second wife has a beef since she was committing adultery with him while he was still married to the first wife. Can we still call the first and second women wives since he had those marriages annuled?

Newt Gingrich is the Winston Churchill of our time.

If that is true, "our times" are greatly diminished.

He led the charge on impeaching BJC while he himself was getting BJs from his mistress. It’s going to be an issue.

He will forcefully remind everyone that the issue was not sex, but lying under oath. A lot of people (mostly liberals) will not buy it. Most conservatives will. By the time the general election rolls around, it will be old news.

I find it truly despicable that Matt Drudge, who has his own lifestyle issues. would lead this b.s. attack on Newt. I guarantee there is more to this - like ties between Drudge and Romney’s staff. Drudge has gone beyond the pale on this one.

"It's starting"

The Rat Party (formerly the traditional Democratic Party) and their servile, complaisant, undistinguished media (SCUM) swing into action. Doing what they do. They did it in the Senate campaign five or six years ago.

Excluding the ex-wife of Gingrich I wonder which has the most whores.. the judiciary or the women in places to have met members of the ruling class.

.. and all we got on Obama is -- nothing from SCUM. But there's that one guy who claims a homosexual relationship with Obama. Wot? Oh yeah, Ayers wrote Obama's best selling book. And I remember something about a man who got that million-dollar house deal -- the one that's in prison now. More? Lot's more. Here one. He never attended classes in college, never passed any tests yet has college degrees.. Wait.. how do we now that? Oh, he can't prove otherwise.

It is “preemptive” to the nationally televised prime time interview. The word I saw, though, was “head off”.

One at a time, as necessary, Newt will have defenders close coming forth with increasing push back and drip, drip, drip questioning Marianne the Vicious and her version of accusations, and her nasty quotes she attributes to Newt.

This gal better have it on tape, as “he said-she said” doesn’t any longer fly all that well, unless your predisposed to theater soap opera accounts of some ex-wives various venomous syndromes. So many voters are dealing with that derangement, it may bring Newt more votes.

In civil law, you may refer to them as ex-wives. In the Church, IF they were actually annulled, the marriages were annulled, which means just that...that a marriage never existed.
