Gingrich camp heads off ex-wife interview

The Gingrich campaign launched a preemptive strike as news spread that ABC plans to broadcast a potentially damaging interview with Newt Gingrich’s second ex-wife on Thursday – just two days before Saturday’s crucial South Carolina primary.

Gingrich’s daughters (from his first marriage) Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman came to their father’s defense in a letter released by his presidential campaign.

“The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events,” the daughters said in the letter addressed to ABC News Leadership.

“We will not say anything negative about our father’s ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves,” the letter said.

The daughters also said the former House Speaker intends to stay on message, suggesting one thing he will not be talking about in South Carolina is the ABC interview.

No matter how bad this interview is, all Newt has to say is “At least I didn’t smoke crack and get oral sex in back of a limousine with male prostitute”

That is GREAT!!! But, the GOP probably will not have the ‘nads to remind America of Larry Sinclair.

The point is, none of Newt’s supporters will be swayed. They don’t have Newt on a pedestal. They have him stuffed in their cannon, loaded and aimed at Obama.

This is serious business, and frivolities will not be entertained this late into the war.

Maybe Newt supporters could all give Ben a friendly call or fax - many times over - starting tomorrow and let him know what we think about the “ethics” of his news network - and ask him - ever so politely - if he could provide a list of all of ABC News advertisers - for future reference.

Mr. Ben Sherwood has been President of ABC News at Disney-ABC Television Group since December 2010. Mr. Sherwood is responsible for all aspects of ABC News’ broadcasts, including “World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer,” “Nightline,” “Good Morning America,” “20/20,” “Primetime” and “This Week with Christiane Amanpour.” In addition, Mr. Sherwood oversees ABC News R...aio, ABCNEWS.com, ABC News’ satellite service, NewsOne and ABC News NOW.

You're jumping the gun to the general.

Newt's current adversary has plenty of problems in his political history and may or may not have problems in his business history (depends on how Bain conducted itself). But his personal life is squeaky clean (except for a hose-down involving an Irish Setter).

Ahh.. he was just so devoted to the country he got a little sideways with the homelife.

Problem is, that he also had troubles as a politician.

If Newt isn’t conservative, neither is Santorum who, besides being dull, is also big government.

I hope Newt takes the gloves off in tonight’s debate and blasts these scum. The personal attacks against Newt have become obscene. Romney hides behind his PAC, but some day he will have to answer for his lies and gossip.

Whoo Hoo! Excellent! Worth repeating. You need to put that in your tag line for the next little while! Fabulous and succinct.

BS. When KMart went bankrupt, the trustees were ‘persuaded’ that their net liabilities exceeded their net assets and hence declared that the common shareholders would be wiped out.

A panel of common shareholders discovered that KMart’s real estate holdings had been severely almost by intention (wink) undervalued and they filed a motion with the court to order new appraisals. The court so ordered and the new appraisals showed net value over liabilities thereby enabling the common shareholders to have a seat at the table.

The vultures in this case were similar to Bain in that they maneuvered to create a false image to the court in order to enrich themselves. But they lost.

That’s vulturism.

If Newt dropped out, then about 3 people would watch tomorrow's debate. Why, because between them Rick and Romney have the combined excitement of a slug with the flu.
Newt's bringing the goods to these debates. His ability to boldly and eloquently state what every sane person is thinking is truly extraordinary. His past has it's flaws, but his present kicks ass, American style.

I think you’re right about Newt’s supporters. They’ve pretty well swallowed all his negatives because they like his rhetoric in debates and think he can beat Obama.

He isn’t running as Mr. Perfect Christian Guy so this won’t hurt him like it did Cain.

But ya never know.

Another awe inspiring Must Watch video of Newt. Pass this one around especially to those who are still on the fence. Newt must be our candidate in 2012. Lets Ignore all the negative media hype from this day forward. Do not let Axelrod and the Commie media channels pick our candidate this time! Yes there are no perfect candidates but there are mediocre vs exceptional.

Yeah, that telling Perry and Santorum to bow out and let him have it without a fight ticked me off severly also.

Of course, Santorum did the same thing to Perry.

Perry may be the only one left standing without a buttload of baggage. Maybe he should stay in.
