Report: Iowa Recount Puts Santorum Ahead By 34 Votes, Result 'Unresolved'

Rick Santorum has ended up 34 votes ahead of Mitt Romney after a recount of the results from the Jan. 3 Iowa Republican presidential caucuses, The Des Moines Register is reporting.

But, the newspaper adds, Iowa GOP officials say that results from eight of Iowa's 1,774 precincts "will never be certified" because they're missing — meaning the outcome remains basically unresolved, as the Register's headline says. Or, as one Republican official tells the Register, it's going to be viewed as a "split decision."

“He sure will. As a matter of fact he will have won one state and Mitt will have won another and Newt will have had a 4th and 5th place finish. Newt is also fixin to get hammered by the press tonight. Something about trading influence as Speaker to get Iraqi arms embargo lifted for 10 million. WaPo has the story and his wife is on with ABC tonight because she was the contact to get it done.
We should thank God once again we didn’t back such a weak horse and get hammered in Oct. with it. “

This is why the Santorum people are so pathetic.

The so-called arms deal investigation stuff never went anywhere, and his ex has been hounding him for years. No one likes her and she is just going to rehash more garbage she did in the 90s.

But like I said before, you guys are so desperate, you will gladly team up with Willard and the MSM to push your fantasy of purity Rick magically winning, which he isnt.

Maybe Rick’s PACs can team up with Ron Paul’s and run some negative ads?

Wikipedia was quick, though. This is their running map of states won in the GOP primaries, caucus. One each for Santorum and Mittens:

Friend of mine working in London who likes a bet had GBP 50 on Santorum to win Iowa about 10 days before the vote, at odds of 16/1. He’s more a Newt than a Santorum fan (though right now think he’d settle for either as the nominee) but he just thought the price was good value.

The bookmakers apparently paid out on Mitt as the winner the day after. Seeing as he has GBP 850 (USD 1300) at stake here, he’s going back there tomorrow to argue his case for being paid, on the basis of this result....

outrages for romney to call it a tie! If it`s a tie being behind 34 votes, why is it not a tie when he was supposedly up by 8 votes?

AND Iowa can no longer claim to be a ‘bell weather state’.

Romney has only won the state where he was expected to.

He's one in a row going into SC, where he is trailing Gingrich even with the conservative vote split 3 ways.

“It only matters as a technicality now for those who like to keep score.”

The same way Hussein’s ineligibility for the presidency is a “technicality”?

What a shame this is, now it really counts for very little, had it been a ‘victory’ it would almost have certainly propelled him forward. He fizzled out quite quickly in NH, and has been relegated back down the pecking order, whereas Newt has risen again (I actually think that’s a good thing).

One wonders what dirty laundry there is around the Romney camp on this one......

I think to some extent this hurts Newt since he is suggesting that Rick Santorum should bow out - get out of Newt's way.

Rick not only bettered Newt in each of the 1st 2 states, but it turns out that he actually beat everyone in Iowa.

Pathetic? I think it's more pathetic to jump from one horse to another every time their poll numbers move. That is truly pathetic and yes this is a story and big one.

Am I living in the movie Groundhog Day? It seems we have been having these conversations everytime all you jump to the next big thing.

Watch and see if Newts numbers don't tank because of this and good luck convincing the voters of "the real story" 3 days before the election.

Now, a Romney’s win won’t be a historic screwing. It will be just a regular screwing.

“That is truly pathetic and yes this is a story and big one.”

Big one?

“Watch and see if Newts numbers don’t tank because of this and good luck convincing the voters of “the real story” 3 days before the election.”

That’s what you hope, because, like I said, Rick’s people can only pray that the MSM and Willard can pin something on Newt so that their boring candidate can somehow win by default by assuming that the people of SC will dumb enough to fall for it.

It shows that they are desperate and willing to sacrifice their vaulted purity to get something more than a mucked-up win in Iowa.
