Count on ABC boomerang on Newt’s ex-wife interview

The year-and-a-half-old ABC “scoop”, in which Newt Gingrich’s ex boasts her one interview could end her one time hubby’s political career, is more about the contemporary media than it is about a presidential candidate. The Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz said a mouthful when he posited that Marianne Gingrich does not say anything in the new interview that she hasn’t said in the past.The Esquire already ran with the same story in September 2010, if anyone cares. Notice how quickly the story of another election-year smear has morphed over to WHEN ABC will air it.

The interview is said to be TWO hours...is it being edited down to 20 minutes, or being shown for several nights?

Newt should demand that the ENTIRE interview be put online..let's see how ABC cuts it..if they refuse, then he can say that they slanted it..

Wow!!! so ABC news has nothing else to do but run around interviewing a disgruntled ex-wife. Big deal, he asked for an open marriage, at least he was up front about it. How quick the media forgets, Thomas Jefferson fathering children from his slave mistress, JFK sleeping all over town and sharing his conquests with his brother and of course last but certainly not least old Bill Clinton and bj’s in the oval office. ABC give us a break do a scoop and find Obama’s college transcripts and his papers, as you would do on a pubbie but never on a democRAT.

No problem, the best I can think of is that the problems facing the nation are so bad that I would be willing to vote for immoral (Newt) over evil(Obama). Until I come up with a better argument I’m gonna go with that. :)

This story is aimed squarely at women voters; which confirms the vision and wisdom of our Founders in not granting that right in the Constitution.

Do you know of any dem the MSM treats like this? Any dems with a bitter ex-wife that the press trots out every few years? NEVER.

I'm stunned Newt could be faithful to a woman like Marianne who felt blackmail and intimidation were her personal right.

Will the press look at her dirty laundry? They were VERY interested in Linda Tripp and Monica. And Paula - and more than willing to trash those women. What's their excuse for this double standard? The press always has an excuse for why dems are treated one way - and we're treated another way. Funny how they're so willing to believe their own excuses.

Newt's starting to look more sympathetic.

She comes across as one bitter narcissistic type. The "press" is so ready to exploit her... to help spread her bitterness. Why?

Can we reciprocate? There are newsmen who have been unfaithful.

Maybe some of US don't want to see - or READ the news - when it's written by people who were unfaithful to their marriage partners. Let's parade them out and make our call. Turn about's fair play, right?

I thought the whole interview was just on “Nightline” tonight. I don’t know what the woman could drivel on about for 2 hours. It only takes a couple of minutes to say that your ex husband cheated on you with a younger woman just like he cheated on his first wife with you but you are pissed off about it. She really doesn’t have a lot to tell. The guy was a cad. He’s admitted it openly and says he regrets it and is sorry for it and has asked God to forgive him. What more can he say?

I would be pretty irate if the story was that Newt was currently cheating on Calista or something but it appears that he has a good marriage now and is a different person.
