Seriously. Newt’s bimbettes ended up married to him. Obama’s toys ended up dead.

First thanks for the agreement, and then thanks for... well... disagreeing. LOL
No problem. You make some good points of course. With Clinton it did escalate way beyond what Newt has been said to have done.
When I first found out about Clinton, it wasn’t for doing anything more than being unfaithful. That told me all I needed to know.
Let’s put that in context. I spent most of my adult life thinking Kennedy was a philandering prick. Along comes Clinton, and he’s doing the same thing. I knew before he was elected the first time. I wrote him off, and then had to endure all that followed.
What I am faced with today is this. Should I lower my standards to include folks like Clinton in the list of people I should consider supporting for the office of the presidency? Was I mistaken to count him out based on his marital mistakes alone, knowing what we knew in 1992?
I don’t think so.

First of all, Newt never lied and he married the women be became involved with.
This is not meant as a defense since its not my place to defend anyone and I'm not a Newtonista, but the late, great Old Atlanta was a friend of Newts for many years and he told me, a short time before he died, that Newt and Marianne had been having a lot of problems because she wanted him to quit politics and she made his life miserable. So they agreed to a separation and Newt met & fell in love with Calista. When Marianne begged to give the marriage another try, Newt tried a second time, but it became impossible.
Like I said, he never lied to anyone about it and never blamed her.
I believe what Rush said this morning, the Left is attempting to "clear the decks" for Obama.

Gingrich like Clinton? Anybody seen a ‘Gingrich Body Count’ list?

I’ve said many, many times that Newt has baggage. Some of the things he’s done are indefenseable. He is gonna have to sell himself to the public and let them weigh what he has done against what kind of man people think he is today. Evidently you have made ur and decision and I respect that.
Character does matter, that is one of the things people will have to weigh for themselves.
True there a some similarities between the Bill and Newt but there are also some major differeces. Newt has been contrite, has asked for forgiveness, and given his life to Christ, that means a lot some us. Does that make him perfect? No...! It makes him human.
Clinton was never contrite. He fought, lied, and denied the things he had done to the very end. The man even lied under oath.
None of us is morally pure and neither is Newt. If you are looking for that perfect, moral candidate, you’ll never find him on this side of heaven. That’s life and that’s all we have.

Cmon Townhall. Youre better than that. Yes. I've also been disappointed by their choice of photos that go along with their blog posts.
I expect the NYT, WaPo, Time, Newsweek, etc., to use the ugliest pictures, but not our own media.

I dont recall Slick Willy repenting, converting, and seeking forgiveness.
As a man, I forgive him. As a husband, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, an uncle, a Conservative, and a man in part responsible for the welfare of our nation, I must think of his morality as I would a person who had made a grave mistake in his life, but wanted unfettered access to my wife, children, and grandchildren.
I personally see Newt as an effective writer, able to advance the cause of Conservatism through his carefully thought out efforts. Even then, if he's going to include a chapter on global warming, no thanks.
I do not see him as a person I want to be my president.

Absolutely! I am sick to death of Republicans acting like limp-kneed pansies.
I am tired of watching the media control the agenda. Someone needs to hand their butts to them and am glad Newt giving it back to them

Your comments are reasoned, but I continue to see some problems with them.
First of all, Newt never lied and he married the women be became involved with.
Okay then, if I admit to having done things that are wrong, it's all okay? I think my wife would disagree, but I can't really speak for her. ;^) Who knows, perhaps my marrying the person I fell in love with while married to her, would be okay with her. I tend to doubt it.
My concept of trial separations is that people live in two separate places, but are not absolved of having to live by their marital vows. Meeting and falling in love with another person, isn't part of the plan. If a person wants to begin seeing other people, they should inform the spouse and file papers to obtain a divorce. Once those papers are filed, they should still avoid new entanglements until the divorce is final.
Like I said, he never lied to anyone about it and never blamed her.
Well he didn't publicly, but it does seem Old Atlanta had heard a version (highlighted above) that came very close to that very thing.
I believe what Rush said this morning, the Left is attempting to "clear the decks" for Obama.
We sure didn't see that coming did we. I'm so fed up with the current slate, that I would prefer seeing these folks drop out, and a new group of people step up.
Thanks for the response Deb. Take care.
